mystery solved: P1010043.JPG[/attachment:3ur7z10a] it appears that the forum, the CCGB website, and just about every other VW website quoting Corrado paint codes are wrong. For 1994 the code LP7Z is Sherry Pearl Metallic, not LC2U and not Light Grey Metallic either (see lists at top of thread)

no, not a plug and play job, the connectors are different IIRC, it can be done, but I'm not sure if you could get the left/right indicators working as the early loom only feeds to one flashing light for both indicators.

a 1990 car could be pretty rotten underneath, I'd go and have a thorough crawl over it, looking at the sills, rear arches, front panels, subframe etc... if the body is very good then your next problem/focus is the G60 lump, both engine and charger could be expensive to fix if they are very tired as the parts are just much rarer than the NA engines. A cheap car may end up costing you far more than the purchase price. On the plus side, G60's are pretty rare now and it's def worth having a look at it, the 8v head is easy and cheap to recon, and the engine may still be strong if it's been looked after, there's always the tubo alternative to the G60 for this engine :D

bump, need to find this out as I need to order some paint... anyone? could it be this: Burgandy Pearl Effect - LC2U? DSC00130.jpg[/attachment:2gqs98dz] ^ Kris' car

stat blocks the system when cold so you do really need to remove it, it's worth just running the car with fresh water and draining a couple of times after getting up to temp and letting the stat open. You could always take both rad hoses off and flush both ways with a garden hose from the mains pressure. I prefer not to use coolant flush additives as they can dislodge stuff that may have built up over time and then may partially block a waterway or rad tube.

 anyone know what P7Z is, metallic sort of browny red? P1010019_low.JPG[/attachment:30pddfvt] it's definitely LP7Z, the boot sticker and service book sticker say the same, can't find a reference to it on the web, only that it is a light grey metallic (see above), 1991  this car is 1994 and has def never been that sort of colour.

if you mean the water pump idler pulley bearing, then you can weld it up, or remove it and fit a couple of the 9A/late KR pulleys, there's several threads on here explaining the options, have a search.

how about a roll of fibre glass loft insulation, you won't set fire to that  TBH I wouldn't worry about whether it's possible to set fire to one type of insulation or another, you're not lagging the exhasut manifold with it and I'd be more worried about a petrol line splitting and spraying petrol around the bay, or your ignition switch setting light to the dash.

yeah, I thought there was a bit of confusion over left and right seats and left and right bolsters :) they are the same, from passenger to driver's side, but on most seats the foam is partly glued to the base, so you may not get it off the old seat totally intact (if you try to use a passenger one), would be much better than a worn driver's bolster though. It's also worth swapping the base bolster covers on your old car, as the passenger inner cover gets no wear, unlike the driver one! base cushions and covers the same, to extend the life of your interior :) I'd imagine the backs are the same, bar the slot for the seat tilt forward

err, they are mirror images of each other so no.

can you post a pic of the boot sticker?
-
you checked the sticker in the boot?

got in the mood for doing something to MDP (the 8v) this evening firstly, a big thank you to eupognosaj for the proper front grille and the spare bumper :salute: a few pics: Corrado92.pdfP1010019_low.JPG[/attachment:18csyj1j] needs a good clean, but pretty much everything in the right place inside: passat climatronic wiring diags.pdfP1010022low.JPG[/attachment:18csyj1j] climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfP1010024low.JPG[/attachment:18csyj1j] before: stromlaufplan_gamma4.pdfP1010017low.JPG[/attachment:18csyj1j] now looks like it should from the front: 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfP1010027newgrille.JPG[/attachment:18csyj1j] manky front flange :nono: front-flange.jpg[/attachment:18csyj1j] ...that's gone in the bin, very cracked and bodged up with silicon sealant everywhere, yuck. one on the end of the head much the same, nice clean new ones now in place.
-
not really any difference, minor changes to the inlet ports, general condidtion of heads is more important.
-
d'oh!
-
that battery is 1kg heavier than a halfords one specced for the 4 cylinder corrado

this weekend should be the first I get to have a good go over it, water flanges on head to change and a few obvious bits and bobs to look at, electrics are dubious as the passenger door mirror doesn't work but it's getting 12v to one of the motor connections and the motors are good (tried them off the car) driver's door lock knob is missing so drivers card has been off, dread to think what lies underneath :) It looks like the filler flap doesn't have a vac operated lock, so I'll see if it has a pump as you suggest. I've got electric windows though and they both work properly 8)
-
 must have had a replacement filler cap then with a lock in the middle of it at some point and a nice little electrical problem for me to investigate with the door locks then
-
just wondered as my new little 8v has a key locking filler cap inside and the CL doesn't work, and doesn't feel like it has the vac line attached. newbee to these cars :)
-
they do :D numerous RR runs of mine with 130-140 bhp at the wheels and 165-175 at the flywheel I like KR's, on 1.8 or 2L engines, a good compromise of power and torque spread still yet to try the ABF (mk3 2.0 16v cams though) they are a little peakier and may work best on a 2L bottom end with headwork.
-
no 5 :cuckoo:  and I thought I was having a mid-life crisis buying a cheap second one :) does look like a lovely straight car though, nice one Kip

it's not the nicest job but do-able at home. much easier with a proper press and bush shaped adapter, but you can make up a puller with a large nut and bolt and washers and simply cut the old ones out. do a search, several descriptions of how to do the job around on the site
