  1. yeah, you could go half way and clip a bit of finer gauze over the leaf cover in the scuttle area
  2. yep, the body shells changed for the start of VR production, when the late front end came out in 1992. I assume this was to allow for 205 tyres, but all the 4 pot cars got the same body rather than have two rear quarters in production at the same time, it's very subtle, just like part of the arch lip has been rolled/trimmed back.
  3. 1) yep, arrows should now be pointing the right way, 2) no pollen flter on a mk2 golf/corrado, you can get a small jetex clip on one but they strangle the blower somewhat
  4. 16v engine only ever came with a 65A or 90A bosch type (or aftermarket equivalent) alternator AFAIK, 90A will be listed as a passat 16v part and 65A a mk2 golf 16v part, if you want to check with the factor. They may be getting confused with the mk3 golf engines which run serpentine belts and different alternators on the 16v ABF engine.

    CRANK BOLT

yep, if it's been on a while or is the factory original a normal impact gun won't touch it.
  6. looks rubbish as it doesn't line up with the late headlight surrounds, although IMO the early grille on the early front (early bonnet etc) looks right, and i'm not a fan of the bulging late bonnet not a fan of late grilles on early cars either like them how they were intended from VW :dorky:
  7. you might all drive tractors in turnip land mr charged...
  8. list of parts I need is already growing, head plastic flanges cracked/leaking, needs a late grille, headlight lense, steering has more play than a 1980's transit :) so far all I've managed to do is the cracked passenger mirror black surround - priorities and all that! on the bright side, dad's already suggested I take the head off and skim it and he's just found an 8v schrick cam in his garage 8)
  9. cheers Judith, I've got a wing 'winging' it's way to me already :)
  10. have you got the correct crank pulley for the correct PAS pump? do you mean the pulleys don't line up (position is not in line) or is there damage to one of the pulleys itself pics would be handy
  11. yeah, I'm thinking about that already! A number of things swayed me though, I needed something for the winter and anything I got would cost me some time and money to keep going, figured I'd rather put my time into a Corrado than anything else, although I might just live to regret saying that  Mrs and her parents think I'm :cuckoo: , my dad is just moaning it's another car for him to help out on, between him and my 2 sisters there's now 10 vehicles and his triumph bonneville he has to help look after
  12. It's possible, but I'm sure you'd hear the vac pump in the boot working overtime and your door pins would probably struggle or not pull down with the CL at all. Just trying to think of any possibilities really. I suppose if you pulled the power supply from the actual vacuum pump that would be one thing to eliminate. I think the window control box does the CL too, the wiring harness is the same integrated one. Edit: just looked on ETKA and the CL pump is described as pump and control unit (integrated I guess?)
  13. use the search using your post title! result: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=93080&hilit=under+bonnet+insulation
  14. could it be a vac leak on the CL system? I remember swapping doors for a few days and not connecting up the vac hose to the spare passenger door I temporarily fitted, the CL pump just kept working sucking fresh air in until I put my finger over the end of the hose and fooled it into thinking the door had been locked down :) I think kev's suggestion about the control unit is more likely now though.
  15. that's rubbish, in that case, if you get a flat, remove the fuel pump relay and tell them it won't start :)
  16. I've never been exactly what you'd call impulsive  but this was a little lapse, body is very sound apart from a squashed wing and everything else is original and in pretty good nick, hopefully give it a good healthcheck soon but it's got 12months ticket on it.
  17. a local opportunity I just couldn't resist, definitely an addition not a replacement for anything :) , will give me another motor for the winter while I do some bigger jobs on the valver. I knew eventually I'd want another one, hopefully sometime in the future a VR, but this little 8v looked like it needed someone to look after it. I hate to say it's an 8v 'daily', but I realised that getting an old golf or early bora would just grieve me every time they needed a bit spending on, whereas any Corrado is going to mean a bit more to me.
  18. the new addition to the VW fleet :D 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfDSC00557.JPG[/attachment:3cx8vk63] DSC00558.JPG[/attachment:3cx8vk63] should keep me busy
  19. That seems a fair old amount, I vaguely remember a figure of about 0.1A on mine, I'm probably totally wrong with my sums, but I reckon 0.245 would be enough to kill a 50-60Amp/hr battery over about a week and a half.
  20. think all 4 cylinder cars are basically the same, might be harder to get at things one the front mount on a G60 essentially you just remove the mounting bolts and jack the engine up just enough to slip the mounts out front and rear are fairly easy, gearbox mount can be a little difficult as the fixing bolts are slightly harder to get onto IIRC. If all the bolts are easy to remove it shouldn't take much longer than 30 mins to 1 hr to do the lot.
  21. I've updated the original 2 postings with details of all part numbers (springs, washers etc.) and a parts diagram should anyone want to buy all new parts. I still recommend getting a mk4/6N polo (to '95) column second hand as it comes with all the bits you need (bar the outer tube) and they don't really wear at all.
  22. seat bolster replacement time, also swapped the driver and passenger right seat bolster covers as the driver side is OK but starting to show signs of the material wearing thin. As per the wiki guides to removing a seat and replacing a seat base bolster foam, more of a fiddle than I thought though. old one was well shot: 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfnew_old_foam2.jpg[/attachment:pw9j4zoo] new one with passenger side cover looks and feels 100% now new_fitted.jpg[/attachment:pw9j4zoo]
  23. Any other suggestions? try another dealer! if the parts person can't find floormats for customers then ... :epicfail:
  24. they most certainly are, part no. 051 905 205C
  25. mmmm, depends how rusted up the rear ones are, a set of irwins may save you a lot of grief here although even with those the heads can snap off the bolts, they get lots more crap thrown up at them at the back
