I'm not complaining, but why is it that womens fitness classes are getting closer to soft porn every day? Pole dancing classes seem to be springing up all over the place too.

Lets hope it's better than Jim's VW-Press-Office-loan Scirocco then, half the switchgear was hanging off the car on that.
-
sometimes VW make me so angry :censored: why make a specific new car (Scirocco) and a Golf which then so closely resembles it, surely punters are just going to choose the car with the best kit for the money and they'll compete against each other :cuckoo:
-
 a very good reason to drive a volvo

swiss-cheesing the airbox just lets hot air in in the summer and too much cold air in the winter, remove the resonator tube or 'snorkel' and stick in a panel filter, that's perfectly adequate.

You know, it's not always all bad news, we've had a couple of cars in our family sustain 'write off' damage and have ended up doing pretty well out of it, a certain 306 of my sister's was bought back for 50 quid after they said a front wing, bonnet and light would cost over a grand to fix, in fact they paid out 850 and the bodywork cost 400 to sort. And nothing is ever un-fixable, I drove a mk1 into a brick wall and bent an inner wing right round yet it was jigged out and repaired perfectly.

TSR did new suspension, some lumpy cams, bored to 1.9, fancy pistons and rods and presumably removed the rev limiter, I'd imagine the head had a little bit of work too. They reckoned 185bhp which sounds about spot on for a strong fettled valver, would make a loverly track day car.

Ok, admit it, who's going to ring up and enter the competition to try to win it! Great to see Tiff throwing a 16v about again, that thing revved cleanly to 8000 rpm didn't it :notworthy:

the bearings in the adjustable Corrado column can't be replaced and the height adjuster joint is a rubbish design and gets play in it, oh and Cheesewire says the fixed column is a fraction of the weight.
-
off to the telly now... damn, all the way to the adverts and it's not on till after them, like the way they called the mk2 16v 'one of the Worlds best cars' though :D
-
let me know how that goes and how much VW want for the parts, particularly the outer tube, I just picked up a polo column, lock etc at the weekend for a tenner and I have a new VW switch to go in it, all I need is the corrado tube now and an early switchgear column surround. I'm very tempted to use the polo tube TBH, it's much simpler in design with built in height adjustment, no need for a corrado style joint it just raises/lowers the whole column flexing at the bottom UJ, I'm going to investigate what's involved as I think it can be done by simply welding the top mounting plate from the corrado tube in place of the same sort of part on the polo one.

it's a 16v rad though.

there's not much to it Jim, there is usually a small black plastic coated flat (ribbon type) earth cable from the rear right cam cover bolt nr the distributor going up to the bulkhead nr the coil. The other main earth is easy to trace back from the battery, it's a heavy multi strand round cable that bolts to the inner wing and then along to the gearbox, this one tends to suffer from corrosion where it bolts due to how exposed it is and the cam cover one tends to break through a combination of being removed when headgaskets etc are done and of course gets hot at the cam cover end and tends to have to flex a fair bit. Worth checking the condition of the earth from battery to starter motor too, they can get a bit iffy.

about 120 quid from VW

I'm pretty sure the fan run on is controlled by a little switch on the left front of the cam cover under the fuel lines, it's there to make sure the fuel in the pipes doesn't over-heat and vapourise causing starting problems. It may be different on the later cars with the fan relay pack by the battery.
-
I've only ever seen that on reflectors people have painted themselves.
-
no reason for rad switch to die if coolant gets low, if you've lost water through the engine/oil then the oil cooler could be leaking, but you generally get oil in the water and water in the oil if that happens. You need to check for air locks in the system and check the fan motor is OK, rad fan switch can be tested off the car by connecting a multimeter/test light t othe circuits and heating it over a low flame (hob etc)
-
it's not too bad, there's a few fixings at the front of the rad that are difficult to get to, you need to remove the grille and take off two 10mm bolt/screws that attach the side panels/air deflectors to the radiator, that makes it very easy to lift the rad out, otherwise all you really need to do is remove the hoses and fan and cowel first. I think there's also a speed nut and self tapping screw at the bottom of each air deflector panel too.

mmm, my rear koni yellows are the 'off the car' adjustable rebound ones and having just had them off to replace the spring caps they are definitely not gas charged and never have been, if they were they would not fit in the original box as they would push themselves out too far! There is a second type of rear koni yellow for the Corrado, these are top adjustable and have 5 rather than 2 spring base plate grooves, not sure if this type is gas charged.
-
in that case, that's a fair amount of kit so don't just give it away, I'm sure there's a fair few people out there that would pay 40-50 quid for just a pair of corrado hubs alone.
-
Some people are prepared to pay silly prices for old brake calipers, I've seen sets of 280mm calipers, carriers disks and pads go for well over 150 quid, on the other hand my local scrappy sells calipers for 10 quid each, which TBH is more what they are worth. Not sure how anyone would fit 280's to a Scirroco though? they're 4 stud for a start and would require different hubs to mount the carriers on as they have 239mm brakes, not even 256's as standard, perhaps it's a LHD 16v or something?
-
I've seen a fair few MOT failures/breakers go for a good few hundred quid, I wouldn't let either of the valvers go for less than several hundred, it really depends on how many parts are in salvageable condition as they're worth money in bits. The G60 should go for more mainly due to rarity value, but so much depends on the individual car and who happens to be looking around for one at the time, there's not so many people around at the moment that have several spare grand sitting around to buy and restore cars though.

that's the 'exhaust' cam and is the same as the 9a one, only the inlet is different on the KR engine, if the teeth on the chain drive (inter cam drive pulleys) are different from your 9A to these KR ones (sometimes they have more rounded teeth for quieter operation) you could swap the 9A belt pulley over to use the KR exhaust cam rather than your 9a one, as these are the same part too.
-
It's exchange though and I'm sure there are other bosch injection specialists that do recon ones cheaper too.
-
the actual metal metering valve is 027 133 481 for the KR, 051 133 481 for the 9A 9a one is easy to spot, it has the electronic differential pressure regulator on the right side of it looking from front of car (black box IIRC)
