  1. Bought myself a little sales bargain, roma 200L, much work to do now! New fluval roma 200 unboxing by David0011, on Flickr
  2. Years of F1 driving and that happens doing recreational sport, makes you realise how safe F1 is now, and how we underestimate the dangers of things like cycling, skiing, horse tiding etc. Always had respect for schuey, here's hoping he does make a great recovery.
  3. Yuck, those aftermarket sunroofs are horrible and I've seen windscreen firms fitting them, which is even more horrible, think bodging diy-er with a jig-saw! I think I'd go to a bodyshop and ask for some advice, I'd imagine the most successful route would be a section from a non-sunroof Corrado welded and ground to minimise the use of filler. Tbh I think I'd rather find a new Corrado shell given the cost of repair and painting, or there's always the convertible option :)
  4. Yeah, I've got a cheap silverline one, yet to use it in anger though
  5. Usually the small hoses in front of the block to water pump and oil cooler that split, they get very hot as they are so close to the engine so perish first, you can get rubber hoses that fit 16v engines from eBay and motor factors or silicone hose sets or separate hose lengths to size
  6. Bite the bullet, the guy that develops this deserves the income, it comes highly recommended by many and it will always have a good resale value if you move on.
  7. Was thinking it might be a head gasket starting to go
  8. Eat, drink and be merry! Happy Christmas to everyone on THE forum
  9. Massive springs on those BMW ones, just what you need this evening!
  10. What colour header tank cap does it have, you want a blue one, the original black ones can fail and let coolant spew out
  11. 15's are more common, used on fiestas etc, so generally cheaper, I like the ride on 15's better on the Corrado but bigger wheels do generally look better.
  12. Here you go arm lifted showing the shoulders that need filing down, they're the light bits either side at the bottom Corrado wiper arm by David0011, on Flickr
  13. I still think you may need to grind the base shoulders down a little, only other thing is a weak arm spring, unlikely on a new arm though
  14. The mk2 golf uses the same uj between rack and column as the pre 92 corrado, so you can fit any mk2 or 3 rack as long as you have the matching corrado uj
  15. Stop the wipers half way up the screen then, remove the blade, how close does the arm get to the screen in that position?
  16. Standard bushes are fine, you just want everything new
  17. don't forget, you get what you pay for, 3 birds at Lidl prices could end up being be quite unpalettable
  18. the only improvement I think you could make would be to fit a lower ratio rack from a standard mk2/3 golf, this would make the steering lighter but a little less responsive, VR6 running gear won't make it lighter to steer.
  19. if the tank screw lid hasn't been off before prepare to get angry! I hammered it round with a lump of wood to protect the plastic a little
  20. drop the passenger dash shelf, might need to remove the abs ecu cover to the left first, squeeze and un-plug the fan power connector, hunt around the base of the fan housing for the little tab that sticks out, lift it/bend it down and twist the motor to remove. spin the fan blades by hand to see if it is stiff. If you have a multimeter or test light, see if there is power to the plug with the ignition and fan switch on. Should give you an idea of what is up
  21. I thought I had floaters in my eyes, blamed it on the Christmas drinking...
  22. I did ask (sort of jokingly) if you'd been through any deep water :) It's worth removing the tank hatch, unscrewing the tank lid and shining a torch into the bottom of the tank to see if you can see any globules of water sat at the bottom, I remember (Jim?) having a similar problem on his 16v, water somehow getting into the tank, possibly from a breather pipe under the filler neck? Might be advisable to change the fuel filter under the car too, less than a tenner.
  23. that's interesting , I've heard of seam welding subframes and wishbones before, possibly increasing vibration if you do the main rear subframe, but aren't the wishbones designed to crumple when hitting a kerb etc?
  24. what's wrong, the blower fan or no heat coming through from the matrix at all? (i.e. no warm air with vents open and driving along)
