What a gent he is! Did you not keep your original springs?? There's no need to replace them for new ones if you still have them. For dampers get some Bilstein gas versions, they're cheaper and better than the Boge items VW use.

Nice car 8) A minor point, but it's Moonlight Blue, not Midnight

No worries Dan, I'm glad it's gone to a good home. Enjoy it mate, it's a corking example of a damn fine car. -
They look alot better than the other Corrado "crystal" lights IMHO. Personally I'd stick with all red originals, or just the originals

Goes to show what AmD's priority is these days doesn't it? They're not interested in Corrados anymore as they're too old! It's all about the $$$ now... Thank goodness places like Stealth exist. But this doesn't help you now. I think you have 2 options - ask Stealth if they can do the job for you and claim back from Koni, or change the dampers yourself and get the alignment done at Micheldever (as good as any VW specialist, only less than half the price). You have my sympathy's mate, it's not an ideal situation by any means.

Hey Tom, long time no hear mate! As Dom says that's one top looking motor you got there fella, great to see one in black - most seem to be boring old Avus silver. You kept it stock on the engine front? I wouldn't bother with a Porker if you've got a RS4, especially if it'll be your only car. But if you're getting itchy feet (I know what you're like  ) then get a 996TT. They may not look as pretty as a 993 but you'll be getting probably the fastest real world car point to point, especially with the X50 option. Simply awesome. Then again a 993TT will have so much soul and charisma  My 993s pretty tidy, but it's not mint mate. Mint ones are simply too much $$$. I'm happy with it  -

Very true mate, it's a very balanced and stable set up. Fat tyre footprint also helps it. Mine only runs the standard Carrera set up - 4 pots all round with 305mm discs - I hate to think what the big reds will do  -
Lovely car mate. Personally I prefer the RXs to the D90s, but either way that's a fine car 8)

Narrow body C2 or C4 manual 993s fetch between £18 - 30k depending on age, mileage and condition. Wide bodied manual C2S or C4S range between £28 - 40k. LHD - take off circa £5k. -

Chalk and cheese :-) Asim kindly let me drive it when picking up some parts from him and it's a stunning drive. The turn in is perfect, uncorrupted and understeer free. Brilliant damping, excellent traction out of corners and the brakes.....mmmm..... the engine is very smooth and torquey too. It's a real experience. My VR by comparison, is identical in engine output so could probably keep with the 993 in a straight line, but on the B roads the Porsche would have a major advantage as it just soaks up bumps a hell of a lot better and has a lot more grip out of turns. It's also a car I aspire to owning one day too..... The brakes are probably the single most impressive thing coming from a VR6 (even with 312s like mine had). Traction out of bends needs to be experienced - B road blats are pretty enjoyable :thumb right: Slow in fast out, and the rear just squats and powers out. Awesome. Mind you 285 width tyres on 10 x 18" rear rims help  Rides a hell of alot better than the Corrado did too. -

Luckily I have a company car for the family hack :) -
My Corrado speedo over read by 5-7mph - I got a genuine 150mph out of mine on GPS.
-
Pulls bloody well :norty: Obviously acceleration is a bit slower at the top end, but it feels and sounds as happy as a happy thing. All on a private track of course :lcop:

Different ball game really. Straight line speed - VR is close, but pretty much every other area the 993 shows it up, as you would expect! -

Mate I'll be happy to have the Mk1 done for Stonor Park next year!! Absolutely no way I'll be at Stonor this year in the Mk1. I'll probably pop along on the Sunday and say hello though. Make sure you finish that Corrado off Radford! -

Cheers Neil and Bally. Sure looks different now! -
You'll be surprised how close it gets Kev. Of course it won't be as good, but I'd say it's 75 - 80% as good, which is significant. I was amazed after running mine on a handling biased set up for 3 years. Storm77, I reverted back to standard as in my opinion more people would be interested in buying a car on (new) standard suspension than on coilovers. While coilovers are great, they are definitely handling biased, and not everyone wants a firm ride.....
-
I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by how well the Corrado handles on new OE suspension. It's easy to see why the handling was praised so much when driven by the motoring press. I went from H&R coliovers, Eibach ARBs and 17s back to the factory set up and couldn't believe how great the car handled! The original ride height however is just plain daft.... You could always ditch the Konis and buy some Bilstein gas dampers if you're confidence in Koni has been rocked??
