    Hi dr_mat, ah interesting yeah it doesn't really get worse when the revs are built up slowly from idle up to 2000rpm. I'm more experience with the G60 than the VR but just wanted to get input from you guys in terms of engine sound etc. Maybe I am being over worried about it all.

    I would say go ahead with the chain kit, i'm still pondering mine however gearbox has to come off so might aswel. Check pick up pipe in the sump or even the pump, they rarely go bad but oil starvation is severe. Shouldn't need the head refurbing unless there's some thing obviously not right.

    Just want to know if others sound the same on cold tick over, are there any tell tale sounds of possible issues specifically chain/guide wear? I may just bight the bullet for peace of mind and replace the whole chain assembly. Anyone got input on this?

    Yeah the belt isn't really the concern more so the chain, tensioner & guides etc. When warm it sounds spot on. I use Millers 10w40 Thanks

    My VR is currently on 192,000, runs well no smoke on startup, doesn't use any oil and pulls hard. Would like opinions on whether it sounds a healthy engine. Unfortunately I don't have much history with the car but during my ownership I have looked after her without thought. Do you think the chains need doing?     Don't suppose anyone has the cover caps that conceal the 2 screws either side of the instrument binnacle. Left and Right? Thanks

    Seem to be doing a lot of posts for wanted be hey if you don't ask you don't get I am after a set of BROCK B2 ALLOYS 16" 5x100, ideally a staggered set 9J Rear 7J Front or close. Most i see for sale are 9J all round however there's no way i'm putting 9's on the front Thank again

    Hi all, I am after a pair of late post 92 inner door handle surrounds, a hand brake cover as mine has destroyed itself and possibly a center console that houses the radio/ashtray etc. The center console on mine where the ashtray slides is broke, the locating hole for the screw from the back of the ashtray is missing a section so it will not support it. Thank you forum magicians :smug:

    Hi all thanks for all the advise and info. Think i'm going to go the custom fabrication route or seeing as the stock exhaust is in excellent condition for the time being I may have the suitcase baffle removed and straight piped from the mid silencer to the back box.
