Car has been sitting for a good while If it was the battery that was causing the problem would the MFA and things still go on? I still need to check the cable that goes from the battery(earth wire?) I dont have a voltometer though so just wanted to see if the MFA and such would shut off totally as well.

Do you hear a grinding when ya try to put it into those gears?

Could be man, only one way to find out, just make sure ya mark things so if ya need to you can go back to how it was

I know a benefit is they make your car go up in the rpms faster. but also come down faster to.

Anyone done this? I think ill probably be getting a turbo instead of a charger rebuild ;P just trying to do it for under 1k I figure getting a ko3 would be pretty cheap and they are so small I would get power from it pretty fast...... Any thoughts on this? anyone done a G60T with a ko3 and not a T3? I dunno much about the difference between a ko3 and a T3. when they get full spool or what not.. I just know the T3 is bigger..

its pretty easy. When ya look under the hood look just behind your battery and down to the left and you will see the linkage. Mark where both of the bolts are at before you move anything. loosen but do not take off the bolts! proceed to move them around until ya find it feeling better. ( for me I had to move them both to the front of the car to get it feeling slightly better... it is different for other people though) Each time you go to test it remember to tighten the linkage first! It helped me slightly although I think my shifter has other issues now =( Here is a pic of where it is

I had the tensioner spring problem as well. At least I think thats what you're talking about. In regards to second and 4th gear not working right, I know the 2nd gear synchro is known to go, but since 4th is gone as well its probably just in need of a linkage adjustment. Ok, been trying to figure out my shifter issues some more. I went to the old one that the dude I bought my car from gave to me. and I noticed something. here are 2 pics the one on the car is the shortshifter...the other is the old stock shifter. Notice how the pivot stud and the selector housing where the tensioner spring is supposed to be are no where near eachother like something was bent or something? Could this be causing my problems? I dunno how much this plays into it or not.. Anyone have any ideas?

ya, the passats dash pieces are the same as a corrados eh? Or do you just mean the handles and such?

I dont think im an expert on this at all. but I would make sure your gear stick is lined up first before going under the bonnet to adjust the linkage. I tried to do all this with mine, I think I made the gearstick worse but the transistion from gears seems easier after I moved around the linkage some. Still notchy as all heck though, going to try some redline stuff see if that helps. Oh ya, I also have a shortshifter which I heard doesn't help =P

my 2nd day moving those stupid cables around in like every posistion =P Best I could get it is slightly better, but it still is way off. It seems best when I move both cables almost all the way to the front. I ordered the tensioner spring, but im not 100% sure how it goes on. I dont think that is going to help to much either way. Anyone have any other ideas?

Original poster or 146 jockey, has the upgraded loom worked for you? I have the same problem I believe.

This is old, but I figure I would bump it, check the tensioner spring under the shifter casing thing. I just realized im missing mine.

Yep, tried it, middle of slot and I couldn't shift to 1 2 or reverse =P Had to move the thing up close to the front of the car. I dunno, I guess I need to adjust it more...you sure I wont need to adjust the other cable any?

Welp, I found the linkage cables, down below and to the left behind the battery... I'm guessing the cable I should adjust is the one pointing straight up closest to the engine ? I can't get the damn bolt off =P ugh....kind of scared ! Hope this works out.

I wouldn't say flop...but if I move it in a direction, it doesn't bounce all the way back to the center the way it should, or should I say how I thought it should. I think the to rsion spring would fix it.. Can anyone give me a run down on exactly how to do the adjustment thing? I really have no idea where im supposed to find the linkage for the cables, I dont know my way around cars to well yet but would like to do this adjustment myself if I could. Like I have no idea where to look under the hood =P Or under the car or what.

ya I was wondering about my oil as well... Mobil 1 super synthetic 15w-50 I live in the north east US, and summer is coming up.... That should be ok right?

Ill check the earth strap as soon as the rain clears up, hope I can find it =P
