my rado will be getting a makeover soon and im wondering what can be done. the car is red and will be staying that way. ill be adding an rs2 style bumper this weekend and hopefully a rieger grille shortly after (my last one got smashed on the motorway!). the thing is i dont know wether to fully colour code the grille or have just the eyebrow red and the other slats black. i also want to change the headlights, seen those angel eye ones but not sure what they would look like with the grille. what do you think the black ones would look like on a red car? if anyone has pictures that would be a great help!

nice work, second pic looks rude! i like the wheels , nice to see something different on a corrado!
-
its been a while but i found the problem, turned out to be the ignition switch! changed it for a polo 6n one and its been fine ever since!
-
how did you chrome the grille?
-
looking good, are those the wheels you are using? used to have them on my mk1 golf and i got slated cos apparently they are too japanese looking. i thought they looked good.

my back box is blowing badly and the silencer pipe in down the centre of the car has a hole in the welded part i need to get something asap as the blowing noise is doing my nut! ideally id like to have this silencer removed and the square one towards the back of the car and just have it straight through to the back box. other than it being noisier would it have any effect on the cars performance? does anyone know where i can get a decent back box (oval scorpion style) or have the custom straight through pipework made? and what price would i be looking at? the car is a 1.8 16 v cheers guys

its not as difficult as it looks, to be honest the masking was the fiddliest job! took me about an hour to get the lip gleaming again. Just take your timeand try to keep the sanding motion circular if you know what i mean, that way you wont see random scratch marks when you polish it up

its on jamex coilovers and the rims are 17 inch, used to be lower but the front didnt agree with speed bumps lol
-
a few pics of my car, havent washed it though lol , what do you guys think? body work needs tidying but it will be changing for the better very shortly! (sorry if the pics are on the large side, i dont know how to resize them)

the back alloys have recieved some stone chips in the last few months and they started to turn into some thing worse! after seeing this, i wanted to give up and get new wheels, but i thought why not try and repair it. so i got rubbing with some wet and dry paper. after that some brasso and a polishing rag gave me this i could have gone further but i didnt want the wheel to be shinier than the others on the car. i used some silcone removal spray from halfords to clean up the crap the metal polish left ( you cant see it but when you look at the rag after you will thank yourself for doing it!) it should also give a good clean surface for the laquer to adhere to. heres a pic of the wheel masked up and ready to spray (which i havent got round to as it decided to feckin rain!)

looking at buying a set of kt1's for my 16v. at the rear i want 16 x 9's but i dont know wether to go for 16 x 9's or 16 x 7.5 at the front. my rear arches are rolled, but the fronts arent yet. what offsets would you guys recommend? and will the 9 inch wide rim fit on the front? The car is running on coilovers and im planning to cut away the lip at the front arches.

cant seem to find a set anywhere for a 16v corrado. has anyone tried to make their own? the standard clocks are starting to depress me.id love a set off ddi gauges but they dont do them for 16 vs!
-
trust me everything has to come off.mine is nothing like the pics from 2_door_fun, more like the last pics! extremly fiddly job, hopefully my switch will last a few more years before i have to go back under there!

I did this last week, pain in the feckin arse too! mines an 89 valver, the steering wheel and stalks have to come off then the splined section needs to be removed using a puller. After that you need to undo the 6mm allen bolt and slide the whole lock mechanism off (there is also a spring behind there i think aswell). Once it is off the screw is easy to see. I would have bought a vw ignition switch though as i have not heard many good things about the gsf ones. Only cost 23 quid (Think this switch is used in the 6n shape polo but it is a direct replacement) Hope this helps

that easy ay lol something for me to attempt tomorrow then!
-
sounds like a plan! the dial faces were a right pain in the arse to make! how did you get the numbers to light up red like that? wish my mileometer was digital
-
here are the dials.will be attempting to make some backlit ones to match the volt gauge soon
-
glad you like it guys, its an volt gauge made by by autometer from halfords 25 squid. was a doddle to wire in, as riley says the wiring is all easy to get to. ive also got some pictures of some custom dial faces ive made as well, will get them up asap
