ahh i see...i didnt think the switch would be any diffarent? or maybe it sends voltage to the dim/dip resistor? (yellow thing) i tried swapping the insides over in the switches,no go! when i turned the lights on all my stero etc went on one! yellow=missing pin. blue=extra pin on the inside only :? green=the broken bit. purple=diffarent positioning of contacts, reason why they wont swap over i think. grey=tried this part in other switch,no go!

after the cutting compounds use a polish and then a wax.dont use a wax straight after the cutting... neil. :)
-
on the old switch theres a little metal contact broken off from the slidy white plastic thing,if ya know what i mean :? but this metal contact is also missing in the other switch...they are totally different inside :? can anyone tell me what pin 56d does? and also the one marked NSL? cheers, ill have a more detailed look tommorow. neil. :) edit:oh,and does anyone else have a switch that does the above in my first post?
-
thats the weird thing dave,i checked on etka and both part numbers come up as corrado/scirocco 89-95 :? part numbers are the same except a B on the end of one. have you noticed the missing pin on the bottom row? neil.

i seem to be on a little mod roll at the minute :D  just on with this, although i may sack it off and go with my original idea yet...
-
im just on with this, but im not sure im keen on it so i may go with my original idea  just used an old stereo as a template. if i do carry on with it,ive got a couple of tricks to finish it off in a tidy way :) neil.

no probs m8,good luck with it :) have you checked the obvious, plug leads/firing order/dizzy connection etc? i know you probably have but always worth a shot... neil.

ok...my headlight switch broke so i replaced it with a spare i had,all good :) until i realised sommet wasnt quite right... flicking on the sidelights,no probs. from sidelights to low beam,no probs. :) but when going from low beam, back down to the sidelights, the low beam stays on :? ! i have to knock the switch fully off,and then back to sidelights. so ive just compared em,can you spot the two differences? and whats the crack? :? cheers, neil.

just been to the scrapyard and raped an audi for its red fag lighter surround :D oh,robbed(not literally!) the twin pole vdo oil pressure sender off it too :D just the heater panel to sort now,not sure how best to go about it yet... neil.

a watchmakers screwdriver set comes in handy 8) especially for getting the insides of the window/sunroof switches out. you have to sort of pop the 4 lugs in (on sides of switches) and then push/pull the insides out. as for the soldering, try to 'tin' things up best you can,i chopped the old led's off and left the legs there then soldered to these. edit:oh! and dont put the covers back on the switches until you have tested them in the car,the led's need to be the correct way round! neil. :)

jmc,any chance you could print me off one of those heater panel acetate jobbies? :D  its just that i practiced the wet n dry thing on a spare and it was going ok but ended up crap :( unless theres a better way? do mk2's not use a clear peice with a coloured filter? neil. :)
-
yeah 8) i used filters on the fog/heated window switches, and they match perfectly! the bottom pic was in the light compared to the others being in the dark thats all 8) although,if i find anymore household goods...

tell me about it m8  gettin pi$$ed of with not having the same wheels on each corner now to be honest :( feckin potholes! greeny, switches were pretty easy m8,just really time consuming! sunroof switch was the most fiddly! its funny,i tried saving the phone by converting it to green led's but it was harder than the feckin switches so its dead...

-
dont suppose anyone has 3 spare red led's that will go into the early window switches? :D  can paypal a few quid for em! they are all i need to do now,oh and maybe the sunroof switch, does that need an led too? or can a filter be swapped? cheers, neil.
-
done the lcd's! and the heated rear window/fog switches :D did the headlight switch too,but its gone and broke  when i turn the ignition on my low beam comes on :( neil.
-
cheers bally,i am just starting to get used to it now :D neil.

Spykee, if your cam/crank are lined up good...you can actually forget the intermediate shaft (connected to rotor arm, dont have to be at 12 o clock) all you have to do is turn the dizzy body until the rotor arm points at the notch, although it looks like it is in your above pic. :) neil.
-
Done the headlights yellow, still unsure about em as yet! also, with having a puncture on one of the porka rims, ive taken em all off and im on with polishing em back up to scratch like the one ive already done.see pics :) neil.
-
i cant decide! edging towards all yellow but not sure if it will look over the top... :? neil.
