cheers ! although ive fecked the center dash piece with gauges off. went to fit it and the stereo was hitting the screw fixing points on the actual dash  ! so ive just used the heater panel for now, lights up alright too! nice and red,and a bit diffarent! :D mtc r32,i just got stuck in with a jigsaw m8   did take a bit of time, theres a line that you can follow above the ashtray to cut along. ps:ive had another idea for my dials  maybe after all the other jobs, like fitting the black carpet from gaz_the_geeza (cheers m8 ) and getting my design 90's back on,sick of it looking crap! neil.

ooooh somewhere i can tell my story :D this happened ages ago but it really pi$$ed me off  id owned the mk1 gti for a few months and wanted a valver lump to stick some 45 webers on. a mate had an 1800 kr unit, and said i could have it for £180,it was a very good strong engine :) thing was...i fancied a 2.0 16v instead and spent a good while searching,a guy by the name of jimmyg responded to a wanted advert i placed stating that he had one with low mileage from a corrado. arranged to meet at a show and check out the lump running in his 'now magazine featured cab' all seemed well (saying that i knew nothing back then about engine numbers etc) but he gave me his word that it was a 2.0 16v. i told him that i was really stretching my budget by looking for a 2.0 having bought some brand new! webers, and that my mate had an 1800 for £180. but we came to a price of £450,including the ashley conversion exhaust manifold. deal done.i picked the engine up from dubsport as his car was there having the 2.0 16v swapped for a 1.8t. after running the mk1 for a while i treated it to some new piston rings/oil pump/crankshaft oil seals, didn't look so low mileage to me... but i was absolutely fuming when i measured the bore size/stroke to find that it was just a feckin mk2 golf valver lump. after i told him i had the chance to buy my mates too... happened ages ago,but it was a lot!!! of money to me at the time, and just the sheer out of order-ness  is not on. neil.

ahhhh, yep. just couldn't get my head around it  could bypass the relay with some adequate wire and spade connectors.a push button is the best bet though 8) neil.
-
aye, sounds like its taking power from the actual wiper feed and running through the relay as sciroccotune says :) i cant just picture the wiper wiring on the rado...stick a 12v tester on a couple of the wires and flick/hold the lever back to find the right one. neil. edit:forgot the quote button!
-
on my ol' mk1 i took power from the washer feed, this is just constant 12v for as long as you hold the stalk back. neil. :)
-
i reckon 10mm all round is a nice subtle change. 8) reminds me,my dad ran 50mm spacers (yep! 50mm!  ) all round on his 944,looked the absolute dogs
-
feck what people think about non daily drivers :!: ive had it in the past with the 50k mile mk1,never been painted etc etc...people saying a car is for driving blah blah. well if i drove it everyday it would just end up like any other tidy mk1 and not be the 10 grands worth concours example that it is now.and if everybody drove em,nobody could look at and appreciate cars like these as there would'nt be any left. there is more to a car (as a hobby) than driving em,minting/modding/looking at etc. everyone should just enjoy there motors in a way which pleases them, most do anyway like but ya know :? sorry, end of rant
-
sits really well that mk2 m8 8) keep it!

My Corrado Project.... Here goes i'm on the ladder
Riley replied to mtc R32's topic in Members Gallery
must've taken a bit of bashing if it was creased like above? -
dx bolt is a crankshft pully bolt from a mk1 golf gti :) you need the washer and some loctite too. bolt - n040 1064 washer - 068 105 193a neil. :)

8) like the back lights! id agree on that rear panel, being strong...much better to throw another on :) not a massive job for someone who knows what they are doing. good luck with the project :D neil. -
it was a bit of messing i must admit  especially using only a jigsaw with a wood cutting blade in it! ! i actually tried fitting the panel up yesterday and ended up putting the original back :( feckin stereo was hitting the screw in points behind it...so ive sacked it off for now. i just put the heater panel i made into the car without the gauges etc. neil. :)
-
nay probs phil,thanks m8 :thumbleft:
-
covered the gauge panel in alacantara today, not happy with it tbh  is there a panel that fits in perfectly with no cutting? also made my own heater panel design (thanks to jmc for help!) :D was a feckin knighmare to make! has taken me hours! the little guy you can see is...the volksdevil 8) havent seen how it lights up yet,not sure wether to keep it or not, needs more work really. neil.
-
not sure if any light up green m8 :( think theres just white/clear and red? they can be taken apart, takes some doing though! theres 2 ways. one is to ping over the edge of the black surround, and one is to use a junior hack saw and basically cut a little way through the white back all the way round. will have to be carefull either way really! the ones that light up red have a filter inside that could be swapped for something else i think? ive tidyed the panel up a bit today using alacantara (and done something else too  ) still not happy with it tbh... neil.
-
made up a wiring loom for the gauges :D (they light up red! not as in pic  ) anyone know if theres a panel that will fit the stereo slot with no cutting? and anyone know where i can get one of these vdo boost gauges
-
where can i find a vdo boost gauge with a -1 - 1.5 bar scale? exactly like the pic. anyone know what colour they light up? and anyone got one? (must be mint) seen as the guy selling one on ebay wont reply to my emails  cheers, neil.
-
weird eh? i tried swapping the insides but it didnt work :( its just the white plastic things that are stopping me i think,if they were similar i could swap the metal pins over (really need the blue one) but they are totally diffarent. neil.
-
good work m8 8) you are doing the right thing starting off with rough paper, can be a bit scary...but just try and get a nice/even non pitted mat finish all over, polishing is really rewarding when you get to the stages of using finer wet n dry. you want to finish off with at least 1000 grade,2000 ideally.and then move onto liquid polish. car looks good, ill take the wheels if ya get pi$$ed off with em :D
-
made a wiring loom for the gauges :D they light up red in real life though, feckin camera  but...is there a panel that will fit straight into the stereo place with no cutting? and, anyone got a vdo boost gauge -1-1.5 bar? like pic. neil.
