  1. ive had enough. me and my dad looked at the timing again,discovered the cams were a tooth out,so sorted it,fired it up and it was just the fuckin same. then took it to a mates garage,checked the timing,said it looked good. told him about the possability of fucked crank pully,yeah maybe blah fuckin blah... said could also be a sticky valve or dead piston/rings... couldnt be arsed,so drove it back to the unit,and got the piece of shit sportline out again and drove it home with no insurance. can i be ar$ed ringing up and swapping insurance yet again? can i FUCK. heres a little vid of the pile of shit... sounds well eh?
  2. thanks m8. its funny you say that,i looked for a mark on the flywheel,should the line on the fly line up with the bit of metal poking down from the bell housing? the line on the fly wasnt visible while the dizzy/cam were timed up :?

  5. right guys, things arent going well :cry: :mad: :mad: :cry: i went to check the cambelt timing,went to remove my wheel to turn the engine over with the crank and guess what? ive lost my locking wheel nut :cry: :mad: i feel like giving up. i thought fvck it and turned it with the cam :oops: anyway,with the rotor pointing at no.1(the notch seems more like 12.0 clock?) the piston was at the top,the cam lined up as (see pic) is that right? 2 dots? but the bottom pully was off,the line was a little to the right of the arrow? the weird thing is,when i gave it another full turn,the bottom pully lined up? :? and the cam/dizzy lined up the same as before? :? please help,im seriously getting down with this... neil.
  6. ok thanks again gavin. i can get hold of a timing light but the guy reckons it wont be that as the timing electronically adjusts. :? i know it does if setting em up wrong? i still think it could be way too far advanced and when im flooring it the knock sensor is retarding the timing??? maybe and losing power? i dunno? :roll: timing does baffle me a little,am i not sounding stupid yet? neil.
  7. thanks gavin,appreciate it m8 :) ok,so ill whip no. 1 plug out,take off the dizzy cap,turn the crank untill the rotor points at a notch? stick a screwy in plug hole and just slightly turn (rock) the crank back and forth to make sure the pistons at the top of its stroke? and then check for timing marks lining up. does the cam pully line up to the right somewhere(if stood at drivers side? and which bottom pully am i lining up with an arrow? :oops: thanks a lot so far,does this sound like my problem do ya think? neil.

  9. bump for any info for tommorow,i need bed now,although i doubt ill sleep :( im thinking the backfiring noise in the inlet manifold/isv is the fuel mixture igniting in there? does that sound about right or am i talking crap? :? im no mechanic like!
  10. ok,i think im right in saying that the bottom cam belt pully has the woodruff sort of intergrated into it (just shaped to slide onto the crank?) i dunno? am i barking up the wrong tree? :(

  12. just reading threads like this... dx crank bolts... more crank pully stuff. do the g60's have a woodruff key on the crankshaft pully? do you think mine could have slipped or something? :? will a timing light show this up? it does seem very hot in the engine bay... i believe i want 6deg btdc with the bts disconnected? i have got a dx bolt and washer sat around. please help :cry: neil.
  13. yep,all were cleaned not so long ago darren,and ive checked them since putting the charger back on. does it sound like an electrical fault ya think? i really dont know :( thanks,neil.

  15. would this be any use for checking the fuel pressure? i have a feeling it will just alter it rather than give me a 'current' reading? :? if someone says yes,then ill be off upto the unit to try it!

  18. mmmmm,what about my stupid throttle body? has new gaskets etc,dont think it should be a problem?
  19. yep,everything double checked m8,also checked the lambda wiring,all boost pipes etc.... in fact,i even took off the hose from the throttle body,so it wasnt running boost,and it was the same. guessing this eliminates any charger/intercooler problems? :? cheers for the help so far, neil. :(
  20. just fitted a solid front mount and had the alternater off to paint it. im just thinking about the timing,maybe the cambelt could have jumped a tooth? sound possible? :? im just clutching at straws i think...
  21. aye,its got me back in debt again too. before the charger/chip/rsr etc it did the weird farting thing before,very intermittently though,but not with the full throttle problem. now its just doing it all the time :? anyone in the north westfancy a look? :lol: :cry:
  22. cheers m8,bts is new and the revs drop when its unplugged,the isv was cleaned a couple weeks back too,the lambda seems fine(tested) oh,and i unplugged the isv and it didnt stop it from doing the above :? really dont have a clue :(
  23. cheers darren,i thought it was like that. thanks for the kick up the a$$,just that since buying it ive had nowt but trouble.... im totally out of money now,and all ive done is service it/have the charger rebuilt etc... :(
  24. could someone just confirm that the ecu pipe goes to the higher of the 2 inlets on the t-body? i think thats right? thats how its piped up anyway. :(
  25. yep,changed it a few months back m8 :( im actually willing to get the car back out the garage,drive back to the unit and try anything that anyone can suggest,im willing to try anything.... weather it be now/midnight/1am,2am,3am im not bothered,just want it right. in fact im on the verge of putting an advert up,but my sensible head says ill get feck all for it. :(
