HELP - Temperature light flashing! first time for a year
Richie_FSOB replied to iandavidcassidy's topic in Engine Bay
i would say it was the thermostat stuck. If you do happen to get the problem again, if it is the thermostat, some engine pipes will be red hot, and some still cold. Easy test -
why dont you just put it in the up position? Then doesn't move till you want it to go back down (i think)
-
Another thing it may be is a slightly greasy surface that you painted on. I've had this before. Or even if you cleaned them with turps or something, and haven't quite wiped it all of.
-
i would try just adding a bit more water to the expansion tank, the limit at which the light comes on, is very close to the min-max level.
-
Yeah, I'd vouch for R& C aswell, very good work

You can get rubber grommit type things from halfords. They come in a pack of assorted sizes, and the largest ones in the pack fit perfectly. About a quid if I remember correctly.
-
What did you tell them it was worth when you insured it?
-
was an impact at the left rear which wrote it off, but nothing wrong with it now....and yeah its the photo!
-
Just seen this post after not being on for a while. This is mine, and i'm gutted about it too! The damage was the rear nearside, and from what I can see the damage has been repaired to an excellent quality, without any damage in the boot either. I can only assume a v.high quote was given to the insurance company so the didn't bother. I can only apologise again to you Gixxeruk for the trouble you went through. And you're right, i'll be HPi'ing all my cars from now on.

Hi, I hope you can all help. I am in the process of selling my pride and joy and going for a cheaper option...and before you ask...dont know what yet! Its a 1995 M plate VR6 in black Got 143k on the clock, but had an engine rebuild by the previous engineer owner 2k ago. Service history up to 120K. New Milltek cat back stainless New Raceland Coilovers 17" Wolfrace Voodoos K&N Induction Grey Leather interior Isotto steering wheel Eyebrow spoiler New coil pack and all important Corrado-forum.net stickers in windows HOWEVER, i have just found out that it was a cat D insurance write off in 2001, due to a rear nearside impact, but was all repaired to, in my opinion to good as new standard. The car is in excellent condition, and drives great. Here are some photos. Question is, what do you think it is worth, and does the Cat D status really degrade the price that much?? The plate would not come with the car for your estimates. Thanks

All of that, and you still cant see out of the windscreen when its raining. Not gonna do the Lupo Wipers?
-
anyone got a picture of it with the roof up??, I think it looks great!
-
And surely they are 5x100, not 4x100 as stated, or am I seeing them wrong?
-
Just had a quick look to see what mine says!

If you go to his website, there are a load more pictures, this one is great!............1.9TDI!!! :D :D -
Really nice lloking car for original paint. Ref. removing the strips, would look like this.
-
Could be something to do with the mass air flow sensor, if the car has one. I has ane escort that had the same symptoms as you describe, and it was a faulty sensor. IE the engine isnt feeding the correct amount of fuel/air mix. May be completetly off!

Good tip, makes sense about the wax building up. Might have to get me one of those megiuar clays. :-P

Have only done the three stage once, 3 weeks ago, The water still beads, but pollen etc does still seem to want to stay on. Saying that, the deep shine still shows through a thin layer of pollen, and unless you are within a couple of metres is still look sv shiny.
-
I got the three stage system about a month ago, used it and was v impressed. I have just tested it on my mums old Sierra which is in a terrible state and I am amazed! This car hasn't been washed or waxed for years! This took about 1 minute, all three stages, nearly no elbow grease.
-
Possibly for the best I didn't catch em tho, because if I'd done any damage to them, they would have come back with 500 mates and done that 10 fold to my car honest they probably would have ended up sueing YOU, and winning, or something stupid like that!!
-
Looks 8) , but yeah, not sure about the indicators
-
I live near Slough, and know exactly what Storm is on about. I know if people came down my road, stopped and took a good look, i'd probably try to get the reg!
-
Best stuff ever in my opinion is the Meguirs (maybe not spelt right) 3 step system, tried it last week for the first time and OMG really!! brought up the black to what it must have been new. Then went to the first Berkshire meet at the Crooked Billett and was told it looked metallic it was so shiny! :D

G60 drives more like a vr6 and poor throttle response HELP!
Richie_FSOB replied to raddo_g60's topic in Engine Bay
I know this may be a long shot, but in your last thread, you mentioned the handbrake getting in the way when changing gears, suggesting it may not be all the way down. Is there any way the handbrake is not fully releasing? I guess you could test this by trying to push the car with the handbrake off?
