4: My handbrake gets in the way when i change gear! Seriously! Is this a feature of corrados in that you do catch the handbrake when changing gear, or is my handbrake to high or my gear knob too low!? My gear knob has been changed to an aftermarket smaller one so dont know if this is the problem. 4, you're gearknob has probably been cut down. and yes, it sounds like your handbrake comes up too high too. 3 clicks shold be the most it'll move. The handbrake should not get in the way at all. I am reading this as when the vehicle is moving, (ie handbrake down all the way). It should sit flat with the gear lever surround, and there is a dip under the handle so you can raise it. Maybe your handbrake isn't going all the way down for some reason? See picture below, this handle is UP, should be a good 3-4 inches lower when down. I hope VR6 doesn't mind me using his pic. -
Yep, for constant power to the stereo, just wire up the red and yellow wires from your head unit to the constant 12v feed from the battery. Simple really, but dont forget to turn it off when you get out!! :)

Don't know if this will be of any use, but a few weeks ago my thermostat got stuck shut, meaning the water wasn't circulating, and some of the pipes were fit to burst due to the heat and other were still fairly cold. When the temperature light comes on, are all of the pipes hot? -
I think a lot of it comes down to company car drivers, I work for a leasing company, and a lot of drivers dont care a toss about their cars, and respectively anyone elses.
-
I did look into this once, and was given a quote of 'About a grand', but that was only a couple of places near me, so you should be able to get it cheaper.
-
there were 2 keys, 1 for the door and one for the ignition Thats not really a problem, its dead easy to re-tumble the door locks. I had to do it to mine, drivers & passengers, because the handles had been replaced. About half an hour each side. :)

Yeah, one of the bulbs has gone, check all the right hand side bulbs
-
Thanks all, How easy is it to replace? What would i have to take off, and do i need to hold the gearbox in place while I change it? If so, how would I do that?

What does everyone think of this? V easy to make. One sheet aluminium from B&Q - £11.00 One jigsaw Blade from B&Q - £4.00 Door edge protection strip from Halfords - £5.00 1 hour of my time - £FREE Took a template with a cardboard box first, then copied onto the aluminium. I left a little excess on, and then a bit of trial and error to get the fit right. Two screws and a large cable tie later, I have an induction heatshield :D

Hi, Have got what seems to be oil leaking here (see photos, dont know what this is called! ) Does anyone know what the problem could be, and how I would go about fixing it. I was wondering if it has anything to do with the gearbox, as this seems to be the nearest thing to it? Please help!

Go straight to the source - http://www.dvla-som.co.uk I got mine ( H3T VW ) from there for £250 all in, including transfer fee and VAT. Some of the traders, (Reg Transfers, New Reg etc.) wanted £300 for the same plate, +VAT, + transfer fee. A lot of the plates, the traders dont even own yet, they look for cheap ones from the DVLA, advertise them, and will buy them, mark up the price, and push them on when someone wants it!

If it was mine, it would have to be a stainless exhaust, and a set of aftermarket alloys, 16" or 17" dependant on the ride comfort you want. Other than that, the car looks great, one of the best colours IMO, and seems well looked after. Also, nice side repeaters

SimonU, So do you go down the Bath road to work, if so, what time? I work at Leaseplan near the 3 Tuns, so use the road every day. Rarely see other C's on my way to work, cept a guy I work with whos got a green 2.0.

I have 17's on my C with 205-40-17 tyres, and I have approx 40 mm clearance at the highest. I will be lowering a bit more, but just changed my alloys and the old ones were a fair bit wider and rubbed on the arches on big bumps. I do still have the helper springs on, at the top. With regards to speed bumps, they are fine, but I tend to avoid them anyway.

Maybe a bit too subtle? :) http://www.dvla-som.co.uk/home/en/Searc ... 0&start=60 How about G8 ABV - GB ABV?

Just watched Gumball 3000 and there is a BMW convertible in it with the Plate FUK 1T as mentioned earlier on a Mk1 Golf.
-
Ok all, looking through members gallery etc, there seem to be a few Private/Cherished plates, what are they all. Mine is below. Started life as H3 TVW, but a moved it around a bit. I'll get a picture of it on the car tomorrow.

I'm 27 and went to FC middle, the Burnham Grammar, why, might we know each other?
-
I'm just outside Slough, will be going to the meet on the 23rd at the Crooked Billett. VR6-er is organising I believe. C U there?
-
Thanks for that, would it run from a fuse in the fuse box, or are there any in the engine bay? If anyone else has even had this problem, please help. Thanks
-
Forgot to mention. I have just fitted a stainless CAT back system, but see no reason why this would make the water heat up?
-
Hi, I dont know if this has been covered before, but on my way home, my car seems to be overheating. :( The oil temp reached 112C (not too bad as I was in traffic), but the water temp nearly hit the red!. One thing I did notice, is that the fan wasn't on while the engine was running. However, as soon as I turned off the ignition, the fans started. (is this normal, surely not!) I left it a couple of minutes (fans still running), and then started the car again. As soon as i did, the fans went off, and the water temp went back up. I could understand if the fan just didn't come on, it would probably be the thermostat, and thats not too bad. But the fact that the fan came on when the engine was off worries me. Any ideas?

Paid £3500 for the VR, and i'm happy with that. :) Its got history up to 20000 miles ago, but has just had an engine rebuild replacing pretty much everything 1000 miles ago.
