  1. Very nice - you going into production with these (hint, hint)??

    JMC's G60

Very noticable difference Darren. Much smoother, and effortless acceleration. My hat goes off to you again.... Oh, and I hope you had a good day at the WTCC courtesy of KW.

    JMC's G60

Had a toothed belt fitted at G-Werks and a custom live map done. Happy bunny  Remap has made the car feel much better throughout the rev range. According to the MFA it's more fuel efficient too. Toothed belt isn't as noisy as I was expecting either, in fact it sounds a bit like an electric motor when the car first starts up. Also ordered a cover for the bottom of the belts, with the aim of making it last longer than a few thousand miles by keeping stones out.
  4. Toothed belt conversion and full live remap with G-Werks. Hmmm, tasty.... Even managed to clean it today, in the 1 hour between the rain.
  5. Yes, they've done it again folks. Darren and Steve (ably assisted by their new helper Rob) have yet again worked wonders :D :D Had a toothed belt fitted yesterday and a full live remap today. I thought it was quick before, but it feels faster and smoother throughout the range now. Also got 2mpg better than usual on the MFA on the way home - bonus.
  6. Nitromethane injected in through a water mist system with water/methanol would have the effect of increasing the oxygen content (bit like nitrous, but it's also fuel in its own right) and keeping the inlet temperature lower, so giving a denser gas and again increasing the amount of oxygen. More oxygen allows you to add more fuel and gives more :D :D God I hope that's right - makes sense to my chemists brain.... Anyone with more experience of this stuff please chip in.
  7. Still trying to find out what the nitrogen is for..... I stand corrected - I'm sure the Hindenburg distaster had nothing to do with the hydrogen on board. Although to be fair I never mentioned 'pressurized' or 'nitrogen' in my original comment. Having worked with pressurized gasses for 10 years I learnt to be extremely (and I cannot emphasize that too much) careful around hydrogen. Meant no disrepect - just offering advice...
  8. potatonet, it looks from the literature that this is mainly for cleaning up emission from diesel engines (if it works at all). clicky Also as mbaker said, you really, really, do not want to be making this stuff onboard (remember the Hindenberg).
  9. Huh :? ..... Surely all you need is a dilithium crystal from Capt Kirk rather than this fuel cell stuff  I don't think you want to be pumping any more nitrogen through the system - air is already 80% nitrogen.
  10. Cheers folks, I've dropped aposegil a line about this. I have a breakers yard looking into getting the parts as well, but I get the feeling that'll be a little pricey. I honestly have no idea Dinkus. It doesn't look to be the standard Diavia one though as the switches were different to most of the ones I've seen on here.
  11. Ah ha. Now that sounds like a plan (must find breakers yard with 2 TT's)..... Don't suppose you have any part numbers for these downlighters Jay??? Thanks, Jonathan
  12. Know what you mean about neons Jay (too many images of Max power). But I do fancy some form of lighting for the footwell area. Unfortunately my ashtray area current has 2 gauges sat in it and the empty space below that is full of CD's. Hmmm, what to do??
  13. Cool, very swish Jay. Can't face the prospect of neons to give some subtle light to the footwells. Think I might try and set something up using wide angle LED's instead....
  14. Supercharged, I've included a diagram of the cutout area in the Wiki now - it's even in graph paper to make things easier :D :D Also looking into how to use part of the original light circuit to make it stay on for a bit of time after closing the door like the standard light does. Will add that to the Wiki as well if it come to anything - can't be that difficult, can it???
  15. randal, in theory running it off the light sitch dimmer circuit would work, but I really can't be bothered to lay another wire to it from the dash (just lazy). And yes, it was a bit of a nightmare to fit, but it was more fiddly than anything else. Thank you for advice while dioing the install. Cheers Jay, look forward to seeing a picture of your subtle lighting effect.
  16. Your dead right Jay, there is a very slight overhang around the front edge, mainly because of the curved front edge on the trim. I am going to fix this by putting some the the 4mm thick sticky back foam from Audioscape (which they use for soundproofing) around the unit on the trim and retrimming this whole thing (when I get round to it). Thanks for the perspective on the dimming as well. I may well take out the old circuit from the original light and fix something up to the new one. Quite like the idea of red lighting lower down - does the ashtray one make a big difference?? Was thinkin of setting something up in the footwells.
  17. Supercharged, thanks for the feedback. The best thing I found to do with this is to firstly widen the hole, and then to fit the trim back up on the car and visually check how much space you have to remove material from the back of the hole (before you bump into the bracket for the sunroof motor). Once you have the side and back sorted then remove what else you need from the front. You know what, a comparison picture is worth a thousand words. I should be able to get a picture when I get home tomorrow night as I still have old piece of trim. I'll try and get some measurements as well, it would be useful to add to the Wiki.
  18. Fixed two things that have been wrong since I first bought it - the rust around the number plate light (and got the light working as well) and the rear wash wipe lives again. Also made a big long list of all the other bits that want/need doing
  19. I'm gradually removing all traces of the aircon system out of my G60, and am going to buy standard parts to put back in, but wanted to check which bits are needed. Looking through the Bentley manual I can see the following bits, which I think will have to be changed; Air intake duct Air duct Air distribution housing Any advice please, aircon experts???
  20. Sorry mate, was having a look at a few differ 'rados at NoRice the other day and saw that some had the sunroof switch in with the light. I hadn't noticed that before (not really looked at those in other cars). There is a version of the W8 light with a sunroof switch control. However it is a rotary one and about 2 times the price of this one (and that's without the switch  ). I think it would also be too big for the space. One possibility - you could try fitting an early interior sunroof switch somewhere else (if think 33hz has done this and moved it down to the dash) if you're happy playing around with the wiring.
  21. With the early interior trim, it's where it always was. Look down at the picture showing the trim, the small rectangular hole is for the sunroof switch...
  22. For those of you who are interested in doing this conversion, I've created an article in the knowledge base covering what I did. Clicky
  23. That looks really good quicky1980. Good to know the later style surrounds to have a bit more depth to play around with.
  24. Fixed the exhaust today - crack silencer. Now back to the good 'ole lader noise, rather than the farty, dodgy exhaust noise...

    Looking good there Riley
