  1. Phew - that probably means that there were two different early ones (???).
  2. Mine (and the one I bought as a spare) has 2 holes cut in it - one for the light and one for the sunroof switch.
  3. Ah, great minds think alike... It's is a bit of a red light zone now though, with everything else lit up red :D :D
  4. Ain't got no choice - the power for the switch illumination also powers the down lighters. If I could be bothered I would power them from the dimmer switch on the lights, but I can't be bothered. All I'm doing is powering them from the sunroof switch, so like it and the mirrors and windows, it's on all the time. Bathes the driver in a nice warm red glow 8)
  5. Just been out for a ride this evening - I like the red glow from the downlighters. Not too in your face :D :D
  6. It wouldn't be the first time I was wrong quicky1980 so don't be alarmed yet  I ordered a second trim for my G60 as I have just fitted a Passat W8 interior light and I needed something to hack around. The one they sent me was very similar to mine, but had a different code number (the last letter was different) so I assumed it was a later one, rather than my early one. It is the same size as they original one, the only difference being in the shape of the lip which fits round over the roof at the sunroof end. The lights were a real tight fit on mine (prone to trapping wires under them). So hopefully there's a way of getting yours to fit.

    JMC's G60

Chees g60dave, I'll put something together (a 'how to guide') which will hopefully make it a bit easier for anyone else who wants to try it.

    JMC's G60

Fitted the Passat W8 and got it all wired up :D :D It was a bit of a squeeze, and the trim needs tidying up a bit, but I think it was worth it. It has fitted into the original space - just. Plenty of cutting to do it...
  9. Well it's in and all wired up. And I only managed to blow the fuse to the clocks while doing it. Yay. Had to fit it in the other way round to the Passat, just to have the space to do it. Still works alright though. Pic's attached of it working... One slightly annoying thing - unlike the original light, it doesn't stay on for 20s (or so) when you get out of the car. Anybody any ideas about this...
  10. Er, with the sunroof switch :? :?
  11. Yeah, got a few, because I'd planned on putting something together about how to do it from the beginning. Alot of it was chop a bit off, re-attached, see if it fits, take it down, chop a bit off, etc., etc. There is not much room between the sunroof motor and the front of the trim, and the light itself is a bit wider than the original one. It hasn't been too difficult (although I may take that back after trying to sort out he wiring) just fiddly.
  12. When I've figures out the wiring gaz I'll put together what I've got into a "how to". It required quite extensive hacking of the plastic trim, so it's a bit of a 'no going back' type of mod.
  13. It's official - You can fit a quart into a pint pot  :D After picking up a second plastic surround (to hack around) I've fitted the Passat W8 light into the original Corrado location. All I have to do now is figure out the wiring   It could also do with a little bit of cosmetic tidying, but heh, something to do next week...
  14. Riley, I'll send you through the file I printed mine off from. My advice is print it out on paper until you get the size just right and then on the acetate.
  15. Looks like there are two different parts numbers for these - I've just bought one for my G60 and it ends in a different letter (one ends in an A the other a B). Slightly different design where it hooks over the sunroof hole, but it dosne't look as though one is deeper than the other...
  16. Riley, the needles orange. Kept the surround silver a I have the chrome surrounds for my DDI's.
  17. I have an Autometer one which was about £40, if I recall. Bought it from AWD Motorsport in Perthshire, who can pretty much get anything you need. I think there is also a dealer called Real Steel in Uxbridge somewhere.
  18. Chelsea tractors..... Oh, and people who seem to have lost their indicator stalk (usually it's one of your pet hates Andy665)
  19. Cutting, shoving, swearing, spacers, and retrimming the finished article will be the order of the day. There 'looks' to be just about enough room, but the plastic trim it sits in will need modifying a but to make it fit. If that doesn't work, I'll make a new trim and lower the light down by about 10mm, which 'should' give it enough space. Fingers crossed...

    JMC's G60

Next 2 projects are currently underway. Picked up a second hand G60 rocker cover to polish. Spent a fun evening with Nitromors wiping off the nicely grey hammerite spray painted finish that was on the previously. Since then spent many a happy night with the sandpaper. Nearly ready to start polishing properly soon. Also bought a Passat W8 light to shoe horn into the space the interior light currently fits. Get the feeling that this is going to be a fun one 8) but should be worth it for the illuminated switches and downlighter...
  21. I'll take a few pictures of the whole process Stan, and report back on here how it's progressing. Probably wont include all the shouting and swearing that will go on though   Update - having taken the plastic trim from the exisiting light down to have a look at the space, the phrase "quart into a pint pot" springs to mind. I think in order to try and shoe horn this light in there, it's time to get a spare piece of trim to cut to size. Going to be a fun one this...
  22. After having some info from randal (thanks for that) I've gone and bought a W8 light, and plug's/connectors needed from VW. Found a supplier in Germany on EBay, but it was only a couple of pounds cheaper than from here. There will be a bit of cutting and filling needed to make it fit, but fingers crossed, should be fun. Hopefully pictures to follow before too long. If anyones interested there are a few links out there about how to fit these into a Mk4 Golf and the like, and the part numbers are: W8 interior light 3B7947105F2EN Plug 3B0972706 Wires (for the connectors for the plug) 000979131A (2 off) Came to about £35 in total.
  23. I've only been able to find information on these without the sunroof controls. Don't suppose anybody knows if a version of these come with a sunroof option that can be fitted to the Corrado. Any advice (and EKTA part numbers, hint, hint) would be most welcome...
  24. Good luck with that dinkus. The limit of my electrical expertise is swapping led's for bulbs - sounds like your problem is slightly more complex than that  Do fancy doing the W8 interior light conversion at some point though - it does look good...
  25. Had a go at doing mine with Gradeafailures help. All the switches have been fitted with 12v 3mm red LED's. The heated seat switch I just covered the bulb with a red glass paint. The dials are DDI, and the bulbs above them just left as bulbs (but with the green filter removed). The cig lighter surround was from a Seat of some description, in which I replaced the none working bulb with a red led. The heater controls I printed out on acetate and fitted extra bulbs to to light up. And the mirror switch I even bought a spare one to practice on (which I have as a red LED'ed spare if anyone needs one). The LED's all work fine on the light dimmer. Sorry but haven't got pictures of all the switches lit up
