  1. the best stuff for that is called SHULTZ,its like a ruberised paint Ah ha, I was wondering about that as well :) :)
  2. Cheers Steve, will take a look at the weekend.
  3. Job for the weekend me thinks....
  4. Thanks Kev. Normal paint it is then.
  5. Thanks to daves16v or his door repair kit. Fiddly to do but done in 30mins and works fantastically and worth every penny.
  6. The paint near the door sills on mine is looking a bit tired, but looks to a slightly different finish to that on the rest of the car. I want to tidy up the area before putting my new DDI sills on 8) Is there a special paint used for this part of the car (I don't know, maybe more hard wearing or something), or will just standard paint do??? If it's standard paint is it going to be a Halfrauds or VW only job to source it?
  7. Bump, anyone shed any light on this please ????
  8. That is one gorgeous car jbob - especially like the front lights.

    JMC's G60

Thanks g60greeny. The boost gauge was remarkably easy to fit. I used the vacuum line to the back of the MFA and spliced in the T-Piece that came with the gauge. The only other bit needed was to take a feed off the dimmer switch on the light, and that was it.

    JMC's G60

Decided to make a new gauge pod for the centre console, as the one I had done originally made the gauges sit a bit low. Also wanted to fit a Mk4 Golf cigarette lighter so that I could have one of the Tourag lighter torches (thanks Darren for that). So out came the MDF and vinyl again, and this is what happened....
  11. Don't do it.... Older cars are pretty much always the same. I had about 6 months of grief with mine as I was fixing the things which the previous owner had let slide. I also thought about getting rid of her, on many occasion :( After that it was just general wear and tear, and whenever I could I replaced items with uprated/aftermarket ones where they would make an improvement. Despite the few niggles every now and then, I would be loathe to get rid of her. :D
  12. Replaced passenger side door seal :) but broke passenger side door handle :( so have contacted daves16v for a repair kit. Fitted a buzzer to remind when I leave the lights on and open the door so I don't get a flat battery again. Started on my new gauge/cigarette lighter holder for the centre consol.
  13. Strangely enough not this time - Peugot 206. Having said that the indicator probably didn't work :D :D Aren't the indicators optional extras on Beemers and Mercs??
  14. It really is unbelievable, isn't it?? It's not as if it's complicated - 'yes, I'd like to go right, I'll signal right now, now I want to come off, I'll signal left now. There we go everyone knows what's going on, and everyones happy'. Noooo, too easy, too uncomplicated, much better to have 'Let's signal at random points or even not at all, that'll make everyones dull boring lives so much more interesting, and I can be the centre of attention again'. Right, calm, ignorance is bliss and all that....
  15. Sorry folks - just got in and need to let off a bit of steam... Just narrowly avoided being wiped out on a nice fast flowing busy roundabout by some muppet driving a 206, who seemed to have decided 'oh that exit looks nice, lets go for that one, but not tell anybody else what I'm thinking of...'. Thankfully good brakes and a bit space saved the day. It's the way they look at you as well, as if to say 'oh, so you're not a mind reader then'. Apologies if anyone has kids in the Thorpe area near Staines - the air was a bit blue fo a few seconds
  16. My drivers side window started playing up about a month ago - it would rattle badly when shutting the door. It's recently started to stick a bit on the way down (move an inch, then slowly move, then jump an inch etc) for the first 6 inches or so. Goes back up alright, and then if I put it down straight away it is alright again. Leave it for a few minutes though, and it will stick again. Given how many bits go to making one of these up, any ideas as to which bit might be causing the problem (and how to fix it)???

    Advice needed on aerials

Cheers Phil, I presume these things just screw off and on...
  18. My aerial is looking a bit worse for wear. The base is fine, but the rubber on the aerial itself is torn, and I don't want water getting in. Is there a stubby aeriel which is a direct replacement for these, or am I going to have to get another one which looks like it's come of a radio controlled car :?
  19. ....and the last thing they saw was a little red dot, just before hearing that 'phht' noise. Money well spent in my mind. 8)
  20. Just done one of these myself. Nice and bright and not too difficult to do, definately worth it. Mounted it on the trim around the tailgate glass, drilled a small hole and fed the wire back into the car and down the c-pillar. Took about an hour to mount it up and a few evenings to make.

    Which Car Mats?

Have to agree here, the JustMatz mats themselves are reasonable quality, but the writing on mine started to come off within a few months, and is looking positively threadbare now. Shame Dub Design Industries don't do theirs in RHD - they look fantsastic.
  22. After reading this have just completed my own high level light. Using one from Ebay (for about £10) and grafting it into the trim on the tail gate. Plenty of filler, sanding primer and paint and quite happy with how it's turned out. Hopefully some of the local Chelsea tractors may actually see me braking now
  23. Recently ordered a replacement ECU relay and Fuel Pump relay (numbers 30 and 167) as I've been having a bit of trouble with my G60 dying (very occasionally). When I came to have a look at my fuse box it turns out I have a relay no 32 where the ECU one should be and one numbered 80 where the fuel pump one is. Can anyone please tell me if this is just a part number change, or have I been running aorund with the wrong relays???

    JMC's G60

They were bought from someone off here about two weeks ago Rado.001 and I 'hope' they're the GTI ones (the part numbers seem to match anyway)... From what I can gather from reading back through the long 'Lupo wiper conversion' thread, this was the original setup.

    JMC's G60

....And the mods just keep on coming today. Fitted Lupo wipers, and yes, I can now see why people fit 2 drivers side ones. Still at least they were a good price second hand, and when I can be bothered to buy a second drivers side one I'll have one to do the rear window with :D
