  1. do any of you know what alarm systems will be compatable with the MK4 flip key? i want to make my own flip key for my corrado and make use of the remote unit on the key as well. should a alarm install place be able to program any alarm to the key? let me know.
  2. if it still works manually, you might just have to replace the sensor that does the automatic feature. you may have messed something up when you put in the new head unit. if you can get access to the etka for the corrado it will have the part # to the sensor that is on the back of the guage cluster. it was a $35 fix for my friends corrado. have a local shop order it for you insted of the dealer. just something to look into.
  3. i really want to have something better than just a loom. there are a few choices i have been thinking about... the bmw e36 lights, the rallye lights, just a set of the ecode lights, or anything else that may come up...

how much would it cost to have you make me a pair?
  5. mine here says "16V RRADO" but it is not street legal here in the US. keep in mind a 16v corrado in the US is VERY rare. i have 1 in maybe 30(?) in the US... =] but yeah i have that plate on the front bumper.
  6. i want the lights...how hard is it to install them? the US spec stuff it really terrible to comply with the US standards. the US lenses have a way more defused pattern on the lense. you lose 75% of the light + the wiring isnt great, you arent even getting the full wattage to the bulbs. let me know about a pair of those lights.
  7. back on topic...talk to me here... =]
  8. well, if i were to get a smaller turbo with the copper head gasket do you think it might last if i dont push too much boost? if not, i guess i would be going to go with the forged low compression pistions. the cams i have in there right now are: seat timing> durration @.050"> durration @.200"> cam lift 266 > 226 > 170 > .441" 272 > 236 > 174 > .441" durration = 266 overlap = 42 deg. would these cams work for that? it just so happens that the car used to be a g60 with the digi 1 fuel managment, so i already had electric fuel management since i just swapped in the 2.0L 16v engine. would i be fine with the G60 injectors? i already talked to SNS and they can make me a chip for the engine with the turbo. i still need to figure out what size of turbo i would want to go with...i was maybe thinking keeping it with low boost, but i dont know... =] josh
  9. for lowering the compression most kits come with a different head gasket. im not sure if just that can do it enough without going to forged pistons. the extra fuel filling? right now i have a Bahn brenner fuel rail, would i be using the VR6 injectors on that? i also dont know what a "k star and map sensor" are... i dont plan on going to stand alone. i have newly rebuilt head, with custom cams already installed. is that what you were talking about here: "fit an additional exhaust cam to the inlet but you need to machine the woodruff key further round to restore the correct timing. " or do i just not understand. how big is too big? im not really familiar with anything but the stock g60 set up. also what do you mean by lag? another thing is i would probably have to get another chip made from SNS right? let me know. and the eip kits are QUITE expensive...like $4,900 expensive
  10. I’m contemplating getting a turbo for my car. What is necessary to do this? I have only dealt with the G60 before so the turbo thing is a dark room for me. How much would a decent kit run me? What sort of horsepower would I be getting? PSI? How many hours of labor are we looking at to install the kit? Where could I get the turbo kit? Which ones work best? etc... Let me know guys, I’m sure turbo stuff isn’t all of your guy’s bags but I’m pretty confident you guys could help me out. cheers, Josh
  11. man, that fake side profile of the car is freaking nice looking. i bet vw would make so much money if they actually made a car like that...it would be a hell of a lot more than $25,000 US though. that first picture on the link was so terribly done. mixing the jetta and the corrado together like that. but from the side view it looked beautiful.
  12. those tail lights are awesome! clean car.

    cant wait to see.
  14. good to know. =] when i had my g60, i was going to get the twin inlet! hard to come by in the states though.
  15. my friends 90' G60 did not come with ABS, but my 90' G60 did? im pretty sure it was an option from the dealer. thats almost as weird as my two friends named steve who both have 90' G60's.
  16. goodluck! my car should be fired up this week for the first time as well!
  17. i have actually heard a blow off vavle is a bad idea for the g60 system. because it has the return line, it is helping the unused pressure get back into the charger. and if you release that air, you are going to have less air to go right into the charger again. im not sure if that is why exactly, but i heard it can actually damage the charger system over a small amount of time. i am pretty sure i heard this from my friend who is making a rally corrado, 4 wheel drive, lysholm charger, etc. this guy also owns a real golf limited. he knows his corrados pretty well.
  18. i call those the "OH SH1T" handles. yeah, i went there.

you guys can just use RC car "window tint" and clear coat. they make the tint in all colors. -tape off any part of the headlight you dont want painted -clean off the headlight with thinners, window cleaner, etc. -sand the part you will be painting with 600 sand paper (with this you can aslo sand off any of the manufactur markings on the tail light as well - for a nice smooth tail light without any bumps in the paint) -clean off the part you sanded with your cleaner of choice -apply a few coats of the "window tint" paint -apply a few coats of the clear coat its really quite simple to do. i actually just did my friends jetta last night. i made eveything black but the bottom red part on the outside tail lights. it looks sweet.
  20. the 42mm one came stock on all of the US cars. i think you might be better off with the 50mm. i just got the 50mm for my car. hopefully by the end of the week i will finally have it running. use the one you think will apply best to how you will be driving. 42mm for more mid range and the 50mm for more top end.
  21. all of my friends were into vw's and it came that time when i needed a new car. i wanted to get a vw but i didnt know what kind to get. jettas are way over done here and so are gti's. so i was pretty set on getting a golf and working with that. then i saw a corrado go by one day on my way to school, (i had never seen one in person that i can remember) and i was sold. little did i know this car would be a huge pain in the ass. i bought the car for $3,900 from this guy who lived near me and had a corrado graveyard. i ended up spending almost $2,000 to get up to a decent running shape. ever since then i have been hooked. im almost $10,000 into my car now and i still plan on doing more. =]
  22. as far as i know the chain doesnt need to be changed unless you are replacing the cams. but if you are keeping the cams that were with the chain originally, i would not change the chain. it might mess something up if you were to replace the chain and not the cams. as i see it, everything should be replaced at the same time to not have uneven wear.
  23. ok, come on now... the high red neck population is mostly in the center and southern states. california...now this place has awesome roads, as for the high emissions for california, there are plenty of ways to get past it. i have to find a shop to "pass" my car as soon as its running. $300 and its done. i dont even have to bring my car in to do it. get yourself a radar detector and you are almost unstopable. =] gas prices here are a bit higher than normal, its up to $2.25 a gallon here as of today. anyways, sorry you guys get the shaft on so much stuff. any of you are wlecome to come stay with me for a few days to come try out the US. =]
