  1. i like it. maybe i will do that to mine if i dont end up putting on the e36 headlights. =] im also pretty sure that the old sqaure tailpipe was into guys... good thing you got rid of it. =P
  2. ewww...it looks like a coffee can. in my own opinion it looks like something somone would put on a honda civic, along with some fake altezza tail lights. but if you must, your best bet is ebay for the universal. eww...
  3. well, mine wasnt at a stealer, but it might has well been. keep in mind they guys had my car for 3 months. ok, i decided to do an engine swap on my car after my charger decided to blow up one day. since i am in the US i decided to stray away from the turbo kits and just rebuilding the g60. i decided to go with a 2.0L 16v and make it strong with a bunch of performace parts. basicly, all i was doing was changing the powerplant of the car. i was going to make it a digi 1 2.0L 16v. as time went on, i got it to the point where the timing needed to be done, 80% of the elsectrical was done, and the engine just needed to be tuned. this should not be too hard for a shop that specializes in vw engine swaps. for 3 months the only answer i got from them was "were just plugging away on it" finally i make them send me a picture. the engine bay is a total mess. it looks like they hooked up maybe 2 sensors. and they could not figure out for the life of them why it wasnt running. anyways, i ended up paying them $1134 to do all of that work. sooo much work. i get the car back, the only thing that is different is, the timing belt was put on, the alternator was put on,and maybe 10% more wiring was hooked up. anyways, i am about to finish the swap on my own now, all i have to do is sort out the mess of vacuum lines they 'fixed' get a new sensor, remove the ISV they hooked up, and have my custom intake machined and finished and i should have a running digi 1 2.0L 16v. moral of story dont ever go to http://www.tomassporttuning.com if you are ever in the US.
  4. when i had my G60 i only went 115mph in it because i was afraid of my charger blowing at that speed. i cannot wait to test my well modded 2.0L 16v =]
  5. i have two 12 inch subs in a box in the boot of my corrado right now. i would really like to ditch the box and keep the subs. do you guys have any suggestions for what i can do with the subs? i dont want anything flashy or expensive. something that will cost very little and still function well. what do you guys suggest? i was thinking about trying to incorperate the boot cover with them, but im not too sure how i would go about doing that. i would like to try and keep things low profile to keep people from breaking into my car to steal my stereo. let me know what you guys think i can do here.
  6. i say ebay it if you need to get rid of it. it is an awesome looking corrado. i am sure somone here in the states would pick it up for a reasonable price.
  7. looks good. how does it sound from behind the door cards?
  8. man, that corrado is going to be worth quite a bit when it is completed. that car is fraking amazing from what i have seen. =] major props to you.
  9. woah, i forgot i made this thread. it took a while for a response. um, here check out the current state here: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1457712 it has progressed a bit. the more current state is near the bottom. but it might be worth checking everything out to give you a better idea on what is going on. please let me know what you guys think.
  10. looks pretty nice. good to see another person from the US on here. =] i think the black and white looks pretty sweet. i also like the guage cluster beizels. some things i would remove/change: the bra the rear wing change the muffler to a less ricey one did you just tint the blinkers up front? are they still functional? or did you remove them? i cannot tell from the pictures if you just blacked out the US plates? or do you actually have a flat black piece on the rear hatch? other than the things i mentioned, i really like it. =]
  11. wow that new one is nice!
  12. haha awesome race. i forgot about your guy's accents. =] the guys talking in the video reminded me.

    G60 question

well, to have a 2.0L block with a G60 set up you would have to lower the compression a bit. so there would have to be nice pistons in there as a starter. if i were to do it, i would build a bulletproof bottom end. forged rods, forged low compression pistons, knife edged crank, etc. i am sure you could pick up a used block to rebuild for as low as $50 you just have to keep an eye out. =] but you will be spending a bit on the pistons unless there are some you could find from another engine. it would be an awesome swap if 16VG60 is right about the power you would be getting from the engine. =]

    G60 question

wow, i didnt know that it would be that much of an increase...wow. that sounds pretty freking impressive. thanks guys. =]

    G60 question

yeah, i thought i was clear with that, i guess not. yeah i was talking about just swapping bottom ends. getting rid of the 1.8 and putting in a 2.0. keeping the g60 set up and just swapping the bottom end. how much more bhp do you think i would be getting?
  16. Red=Fast

    G60 question

i am not planning on doing that myself. so you think that you would be losing bhp? i am not too familiar with different engines. i guess more liters doesnt = more power?

    G60 question

if someone were to take out the 1.8L from a G60 and swap in a 2.0L how much BHP would be gained? what would the other perks be? what cons would it have? just discussing it with a friend and thought i would ask here to see if any of you would know.
  18. If you do a steam clean, is there any precautions you should take for the electrical? That is my real worry. Because on my golf I have, the previous owner steam cleaned it and then ran into some electrical issues after. Was that just a freak incident or should I be worried about it? As soon as my Corrado 16v is done I want to clean the engine/engine bay up a lot. But now after getting my golf that has been steam cleaned I am a bit skeptical. Please let me know what you guys think.
  19. so what kind of LED should i get? i want to keep to the blue theme i have here. will they make a LED bulb that will be a direct replacement? also, where do i get the UV bulbs? do they make direct replacements? like i said, i want to keep basicly all light off of the white guages. i want to keep it as black as possible at night.
  20. the LCD is lit, you just cannot see it very well in the pictures at night. and the needles, i want to see them, but i dont want to have light shining on the guages. im not really sure how to do that though. so for now, i am just going to deal with it. unless you guys can show me how... =]
  21. thanks! they are such a nice upgrade from stock.
  22. wow. the internet hates me today.
  23. yeah i wasnt too into the center glowing but now that i see it in the car, it doesnt look too bad. plus, without glowing needles it helps a lot with being able to see how fast you are going and how high you are reving. =]
