  1. Got a KR 16v that is doing something a little odd. The engine revs seem to hunt a little bit and when you 'blip' the throttle, it takes an age to return to idle. The throttle butterfly seems free enough, as does the paddle on the metering head. It does seem to run a little rich too at start-up, so it doesn't rev up cleanly. Any suggestions?
  2. Pure electric isn't the future. Get a diesel engine to run steady state for optimum efficiency as a generator to provide power for electric motors. That's where it's at.

Nice! But keep it Helios, tis a lovely colour :)
  4. Ah, but Brentacre don't charge admin fees for changing the policy ;)
  5. Only took about 18 months, but, I never thought I'd be happy about fitting new number plates.... Before & After Made a huge difference. Pleasing in an unusual way!
  6. That is what I was thinking. I know that brake pipe unions can be a complete b1tch, and round off too easily really. Helfrauds one might not be a bad idea. I'll pop down there tomorrow lunchtime.
  7. Which is better for a brake pipe spanner? Elora one is about a tenner and the draper one is about £2 Cheers
  8. Indeed, it depends on how much of a restriction the cylinder head is. E.g if one bloke has a standard head and the other a ported, large valved head, then with the same setup, you'll see a lower boost on the latter. Torque curve is the important thing here.
  9. Erm......dunno. End of March/April, perhaps??
  10. Cheers! Was going to text you today. Did Stu give you a coat? I was hoping to pop up and drop some oil off to you, but I can't get at it at the moment. Oh sh1t, I completely forgot...sorry dude. What's your address and I'll send it to you :) Oh, and that's an awesome pic!
  11. The de-CAT should be a separate part of the exhaust, as I don't think Magnex would do an exhaust that removed the CAT. It shouldn't pass an MOT without it, as it's post 92, and thus must be fitted with one. Either the previous owner had a friendly MOT man, or they'd fitted a CAT just for the MOT. As far as doing something for the MOT, I suspect that you'll have to source a CAT from somewhere. Headlights are often considered an MOT failure because the output of them as standard is shocking anyway. Fitting an uprated headlight loom should resolve that.
  12. These guys have everything you need! Split tubing and fabric tape amongst many others ;)
  13. Split tubing looks good, although getting the sizing of it right makes a huge difference, but I still prefer fresh fabric tape as it is ultimately flexible.
  14. Something tells me £180 starting bid, for some seriously tatty BBS Rx, is a little optimistic!

I suppose that there maybe some corrosion on the terminal of the temp sender, which a wire brush and a new spade connector may fix??

He does see 120degC when idling though!

Hmmmm, sound like a blockage around that area could be the culprit then....

You'd normally see similar temps between oil and water, so it could be a blocked water pipe feeding the oil-to-water heat exchanger or indeed a blocked heat exchanger. If a previous owner has used rad-weld or such like, it could block that up. How long has it been running that hot? New heat exchanger are about £40 BTW - clicky

What are your water temps like?
