  1. I have a similar situation with my VR, the water temperature sits way below 70 during normal driving, in traffic it comes up to 90ish and holds there (as expected), when in free moving traffic is drops to the bottom of the scale again. Oil temp comes up to proper levels, so I expect engine is running at correct temps, but sender is a bit duff. I should have thought to change it when I replaced the ECU sender recently but I forgot! I would guess that the heater control on the dash isn't working properly if you have no heat, perhaps worth while looking to see if operating cables on heater box operating correctly?
  2. Looks like someone has benifited from your information, he's pulled out of the auction. It's now down to £4600.
  3. I asked about HPI and if owner could forward pics of repaired area, this is my question and the reply. You asked: "Hi, I'm interested in the car you are selling. You say that the car has previously had repaired accident damage to the rear quarter, do you have any pictures of the repaired area. Is the car HPI clear?" hI. I didnt own the car when the rear end was hit. i HAVE NOT HPI D THE CAR. Thanks Pat
  4. Completely normal, it is an average reading of fuel used v's distance travelled. When you're at a standstill with the engine running you're using fuel and going nowhere, hence the average MPG is decreasing slightly.
  5. I've just turned 36, here's my list as far as I can remember. Cars: 18-19 Vauxhall Viva HC 19-23 Vauxhall Cavalier Sporthatch (same as Opel Manta B series hatch) 23-24 Triumph Accliam (don't ask!) 24-25 Renault 21 Turbo D 25-27 Volvo 480 ES 27-30 Volvo 480 Turbo 30- Triumph Spitfire 1500 (still got it but needs new floor) 33-34 Volvo 480 Turbo (a different one) 34- Corrado VR6 Bikes: 21-23 Suzuki RG125 23- Yamaha RD350LC (now in process of restoration) 25-32 Kawasaki ZZR600 32- Suzuki TL1000S
  6. Having just had VAGCOM on Oakleys car, it reports Lamda sensor intermittent and oxygen sensor (g39) - No signal. Codes where then reset. Took car for drive and immediatley the error 00525 Oxygen Sensor (G39) - No signal returned. Would this cause Oakleys problem, where is this sensor located (thumbing through Bentley manual at minute!), and is it easily possible to check supply voltages before replacement. Sorry for all the questions.
  7. Best out of the VR I've seen is 38.5mpg, but I was on a long steady run with the engine just ticking over in 5th. More usually sits around 31-32 on a legal(ish) motorway run. Around town about 26-28.
  8. Moonlight Blue, and reflection of other half in door!
  9. Mine's doing similar, although nowhere near as bad. VAGCOM reports brake pedal position sensor, and I'm off to try and get one tomorrow. Johneboy, where abouts in the country are you. There may be some one on here with vagcom willing to help you with the codes.
  10. G reg red corrado on Lodge Lane, Newton-Le-Willows about 4.30 this afternoon, anyone? (was in the works 406 again)
  11. Sorry, I'm partially to blame for the lack of C's in East Sussex. I bought mine down there and exported it to Lancashire
  12. Just seen this - probably too late now... Forgot, it's now got Lupo wipers on, so not standard anymore.
  13. Wondered about that, but as it's an Auto it doesn't have a boot as such. It's a mates car and I haven't got my mits on it yet to tear it apart!
  14. Sorry, not C related. Anyone know where the diagnostic sockets for VAGCOM are located on an auto VR6 golf mk3 (1994 L plate), and what style connector it uses. Ta.
  15. I nearly had the same with a Nova the other week, VR struggled to stay ahead until I realised that my floor mat had rolled up under accelerator pedal
  16. Yep, mine arrived today. Think I'll settle down to read it whilst girlfriend is watching Coronation Street, Eastenders etc. and after I've done looking through the forum.

    Damp...

I had problem of rear side window leaking on it's seals. Only did it in light rain/drizzle and never in heavy rain for some reason. Had RAC autowindscreens remove and reseal and that cured it. Worth a check, you just need to pull trim panel off and see if it is wet in there.
  18. Thanks to Scott for sale and demonstration of VAGCOM. Nice FTO!
  19. I've just bought Scotts VAG-COM from him (thanks mate), so i'll add myself to the list. I'm based just outside Preston, but work in and around Manchester, so can probably arrange something in both these areas. 2x2 only though.
  20. Gixxer that won't work, it is the newer OBD2 interface, you will need a 2*2 type. If you pull the gear lever surround off you will see the connectors.
  21. Bloke I used to travel to work with got himself a cavalier 4*4 turbo in the late 90's. I just remember thinking that it was quick. He chopped that for an nearly new evo6 (rich git!).
  22. Linus - Possible voltage regulator on the clocks? Don't know about the corrado (has it got one?), but I've had probs with other cars when both fuel and temp gauge get minds of their own when this fails.
  23. Mine's in a funny position, is it a daily driver? Yes and No!! I got use of a car for work, a tractor engined pug 406, but I'm not allowed private use of it so the C comes out most evenings, although only for short runs to other halves parents and back or similar. Unfortunatley no garage either :(
  24. Saw Gold or Bronze colour 'rado today(private plate B16***, I think) around lunch time in Macclesfield on Silk Road, I was in Pug 406 (again!!) heading to cat and fiddle.
  25. Mine saved me last friday, on a narrow road, tranny van (white would you believe) coming opposite way round bend on wrong side of road. Me thinks 'this is going to hurt', hit the brakes and put the nearside of the car onto the grass verge. ABS did its job, kept the car where I wanted it, only damage was a couple of scuffs on the front wing, which look as though they will polish out, bits of private hedge in the car and soiled underwear! My thoughts - DON'T DITCH IT!
