  1. i think once the plate is on mate it will look better. mind you looks ace as it is :D
  2. where does the air enter the car from tho? across the front of the engine? maybe this isnt so bad as the exhaust manifold is at the back?
  3. where the hell does the air come from with the std setup on a VR6? Looking about there seems to be no air flow arouind the inlet to the std filter box much confused :(
  4. damn too late - the corrado seems to be back to front compared to all other cars - I had to swap for my pioneer too !
  5. http://www.fancyplates.com they are small tho :) doubt its legal to be honest
  6. screwdriver done the trick for me ;)
  7. still in progress but: Pioneer P9400 HU (love this HU - auto eq / active xovers / time alighnment) PG octane 8.0:4 amp (cheap and cheerful) AD tweeters running off HU AD 2Ohm 6.5" mids running off amp custom fibreglass sealed door pods sub tba (when I get round to buying one) 1F cap (dunno if Ill use this or not) Used to compete etc but cant really be arsed any more. my days of big ICE are over :)
  8. you dont get much choice in NI for insurance and elehpant are WAYYY cheaper than anyone else.
  9. you get to drive other cars - only reason I do it.
  10. can you just take the money? instead of getting the car fixed?
  11. surely a measure of bhp is still useful to say if a car is doing its power or not? That was the purpose of the run to see what the baseline was and if action needs to be taken. it wasnt to see if i could faster than my mates car - I can race him and find that out ;)
  12. my 106 gti lenses are red as std so I cant see what the prob is as long as they are orange lit up
  13. isnt bhp a mathematical function of torque? what are your calculations btw? Im interested to know where the 180bhp came from. If this is normal then cool but if i was going to mod it then Id like to start from the best point as possible rather than bolt sh!t on and hope for the best :)
  14. i dont think the fly calculations are too bad. also up was a mate in a completely standard 1.8 zetec focus and it read 114.9bhp compared to specced 115bhp. Surely these things are pretty good at measuring the transmission losses using the coast down method? he also has vag-com so its going back to hook up to it and see if any of the sensors are duffed. Ive had a feeling the raddo wasnt at full potential since I got it and had estimated around the 170bhp mark. definately doesnt feel like a 190bhp car anyway.
  15. really? funny a mate who was there said his dads got 149 at the wheels. the road he uses measures losses rather than going by fixed figures
  16. right was on the rollers today and got 171bhp (fly) 152 (wheels) thats 20 down on std so plan to get back and source the problem. I recently replaced the oil/plugs/plug leads and fitted a hks filter. the filter may be the prob but any other thoughts? fuel filter? cat? afm? any other things a I can check/replace? thanks -pablo
  17. yeah it drives the pump. as well as power steering and alt iirc. if the owner is a dealer I would piss on it to be honest. If the seller owned it a long time and kept it well then maybe.
  18. was a painful car to own that fiat - on 18psi it was lethal quick but the costs were crippling. I got a munter though. manifold is a good one - cracks on cyl 5. £300 for the manifold + labour :(
  19. well it did fcuk up actually and wrecked the head but it wasnt my mechanics fault it was the dealers fault for telling us that the tensioner never went and never needed replacing. 2 weeks later - BANG £500 vs £1500 is a lot of difference tho.
  20. if you mean cash in hand then its all done cash in hand lol.
  21. my mechanic done it and he had never seen a coupe before. It isnt difficult with half decent instructions. you remove the drivers side enine mounts then jiggle it about a brave bit ;)
  22. fiat dealers are to be avoided like the plague. half of them dont know what a fiat coupe is
  23. right a few things need setting straight here ;) cambelt is NOT an engine out job - £500 inc bits will do it these cars are FAST I mean would embarrass most corrados on the road. good for over 160 mph interior is 10 times nicer than the corrados exterior styling is w@nk std but with a few mods looks very well (Azevs and colour coded) Parts arent too bad from a company called Alternative Autos (Gen and Pattern stuff) saying all that when they go by god they go. aux belt tensioner is the main culprit as it wrecks the timing belt which wrecks the head. say goodbyr to a grand+ Unless the coop was something very special Id say dont do it.
