  1. Welcome to the club Paint looks nice and clean with a healthy shine :thumbleft: Where did you see this one advertised? I've been looking regularly myself bit can't say I saw it?
  2. Hey fuzz No problems at all. I just wanted to get a good look at the amount of "wear" on it. You don't have to go crazy, just a couple shots in better light will show it well enough. It looks pretty decent in that picture which is a good sign. As for sunny days I think the next one is on the 03/06/2018. Like I said, I'm in no rush, so if it doesn't happen for a week or few I won't be bothered. Cheers buddy!
  3. Hi fuzz The one on the left looks fairly decent and may be better than mine, which is pretty much ok other than there is a few places where the rubber has turned and an off-white colour over time in storage. I don't mean to be a pain but could I ask you to get a good picture of it out in your garden when the sun is shinning. It is a little blurry in that photo. I just need to get a good idea and see if it is a big improvement over mine. There is absolutely no rush at all, just when you get around to it will be fine. Thanks mate!

How long are these codes valid for, is there a set time limit? Thanks for posting them up!
  6. Ok thanks. I am no rush so just when you get around to it is fine.
  7. What sort of condition and cost do you have in mind?
  8. Agreed, but the whole engine may be borked for all I know. I need these parts to then see if it will run or be viable to fix. I don't want to shell out full money for parts until I know where I am heading.
  9. A few parts I am looking for to fit a 1991 J plate G60 A serviceable radiator, complete with fan and housing. Decent leather gear knob. Decent steering wheel (old style) Lower part of the cam belt cover (or complete). Plastic cover that sits above the alternator and charger.
  10. is this listed anywhere else where I could see some photos?
  11. Congratulations, have a super time! No problems, just drop me a line when you are back. Thanks
  12. Hi Monkey Have you still got the 2 door mirrors?

    Opinions please.

I'm based in Leamington. I was kind of hoping there would be someone out there but was reluctant to ask. I figured people are busy with their own lives and would strike a blank. If I could find some one competent who has spare time and the knowledge I would be happy to pay. I just can't afford the hourly charges that the specialists would charge for any extensive work. A lot of jobs I am capable of doing myself which would bring down the bill a large amount, but I am lacking ramps and equipment needed sadly.

The car was in good order when it broke down, so in my mind I was hoping that it would work again with out serious issue. My plan was to get the car running first and then I could attend to the other jobs over time as a project. This involved getting the charger rebuilt and then hopefully get it started, or diagnose the initial fault. If it looked like I had to spend thousands more £'s I would stop and re-garage for the future. I hadn't considered the amount of other work that may be neededto get it started. At the prices garages charge it will become an expensive project very quickly. I think I have watched to many episodes of Desert Car Kings  Thanks for the helpful info guys.

    Early model G60 ECU

Depending on your budget I believe JMR Racing have them in stock or are able to source them.

    Opinions please.

This seems like the best course of action. Is there anything important to consider when removing the cam shaft for refitting? It's been 35 years since I tinkered with engines so my mind is a little cloudy. Thanks for you help Dox!

    Opinions please.

There is quite a lot to consider. A lot more than I had imagined. I have had some success turning the engine over but it seems I have one stuck valve. Slightly late reply but I forgot about making this post. Thanks for the helpful info :thumbleft:

    engine question

This is very good news after a terrible start to my week, and is what I was hoping for. Thanks Jamo!! One question that you may be able to answer.... I managed to knock the timing out a fair amount when the belt slipped on the crank pulley when I initially manually turned it over. With the timing out, is it possible that the valve actually works but is just out of sync with the cylinder?

    engine question

Sadly I didn't have the tool for the crank and lack of knowledge made me use the blower to turn it over. I did the compression test with a proper tester and manually turning the engine with the blower. I got a small reading in each cylinder except no 4. I then fitted one spark plug and turned it over to check for resistance in the firing cycle, (in each pot) which confirmed no compression in no4. I was planning on doing the charger but hoping the engine would fire and run for now as it was in good order when garaged all those years ago. What I am really trying to ascertain is......is it possible for a valve to be stuck open a slightly with out damage being caused to the valve, cam shaft or cylinder while it's been cranked over? Thanks for the reply.

    engine question

Sorry, I did do that and have added it to my description. Thanks
  23. Welcome back to reality :) looks great now!
  24. My car had been garaged for 16 years.. (G60) Today I tried to manually turn over the engine. Before hand I removed the plugs and squirted a touch of wd40 and 10/40 oil in the pots. I couldn't get a socket on the crank so I tried turning it from the blower and it did not move. I then put it in gear and rocked the car very slightly. The alternator turned a small amount and I heard a small knock sound come from the engine area. I gently repeated this twice more and got the same effect. I then tried to turn it again from the blower with success. The engine turned fairly freely until one point in the cycle where it became a bit stiff and the belt started to slip on the crank pulley. I reversed the direction of turn a couple of times and it freed itself. It now turns with little effort and no banging noise. I did a basic compression test with one plug in at a time. I got compression in 3 of the cylinders but nothing in no4. So, does it sound like I've done some serious damage, or is there some possibility that a valve could be slightly stuck open without any damage occurring? Any thoughts and advice would be helpful. Thanks!
