  1. Andrew is a top bloke, spoken to him in the past. He only sells mint standard cars and thoroughly vets them. You know you are getting a good car from him. I would say his prices are a little dear but because he only buys good ones, you don't have to spend months seperating the wheat from the chaff. SA cars sometimes got things that weren't available in other markets, such as certain colours, trims etc. They also get aircon due to the climate over there. I'd personally go for the Highline. More desireable and easier to sell. It's also got the OBD2 2.8 Engine, so will kick out 185bhp. Kev
  2. OK. VW boxes (as in the transmission, sorry, poor english on my part) have always had a reputation for notchiness (especially when cold) and weak synchro rings (brass cones that match the gear speed to input shaft speed for smooth changes). Pouring in some top quality oil (2 litres) has and a friction reducer has always helped on that score. Again, by stomp I meant shoving the pedal into the carpet as you describe. The slave cylinder is responsible for pushing the release bearing onto the clutch pressure plate. If it leaks, it's effectiveness is greatly reduced and the pedal needs to be pushed harder and harder to achieve a clutch releaset. Replacement of the slave cylinder is the only cure. It's cheap and sits on top of the transmission. Too much engine movement is attributed to weak engine mounts, another common VW achilles heel. Full bore changes = full throttle acceleration  Kev
  3. You'd never catch me doing that  Kev
  4. Or just put another VR6 engine in the boot? 380bhp minimum and 4WD! Kev
  5. Yeah they look cool. Very subtle. Is your car silver? It's look like grey primer in the pic! Kev
  6. Funny that, Supercharged and I were talking about this on the way back from Stealth last week! I don't see why it wouldn't be possible but would it be man enough to fill 6 cylinders? Not many cars would have enough room for it either as the VR lump is so far forward! Kev
  7. Redline MTL and Slick 50 are about the best oils you can put in a VW box and they help enomously. If you want a really seriously high quality oil, go for Redline Shockproof. The shifting problem could be clutch related. If the friction disc doesn't disengage fully, the box will struggle to change cogs smoothly. You've said you have to stomp on the clutch pedal before it changes, which is a clue. Leaking Slave cylinder perhaps? It could also be too much movement in the engine. My gearshift is ultra slick and the lever is tight. No slack at all. Ever since I've put a Vibra technics front mount on and a turn2 gearbox mount, I can now do full bore changes from 1st to second with no baulking. If none of the above, you could just have an maladjusted linkage. Kev
  8. It must have been quite something owning a brand new VR6! Kev

    smokin VR6

I'm sorry but yes they do, way before 200K. Number 6 is always the first to go, then number 1. Stealth have half a dozen knackered 2.9 blocks lying around the workshop, all with significantly less than 200K on them. You can see for yourself if/when you go to the rolling road day. Kev
  10. Yeah it's the breather outlet hose. The electrical plug on it does nothing, just some deleted American thing. Kev
  11. Same here. I replaced that pipe in the pic and it made no difference. My smell seems to be coming from the blue frequency valve under the airboot, which controls the carbon canister outlet pipe. I think it's either leaking or jammed open or something. Kev
  12. Snap! I test drove a couple and almost bought a 328is in Boston Green but my girlfriend found a VR6 in a local rag which I bought instead  The 328 was too twitchy and definitley very tail happy, especially with the LSD. I looked into the whole servicing and ownership thing and thought better of it in the end! I've had a few BMWs over the years and they are superb cars but believe me, they have their fair share of common problems too. Kev
  13. The advantage is they actually work! I did the dremel mod on my original ones but in heavy rain and at high motorway speeds they still lifted. The springs just aren't strong enough. The lupo arms have much stiffer springs and the blades themselves are super flexible (they physically arc when lifted off the screen) so they hug the screen's contours super tight. They also offer a larger sweep area over stock. One of the best Corrado mods I've seen to date. Kev
  14. Now there's an idea. CF bonnet, wings and doors would shave about 100+ kilos off the car's weight! I've seen CF doors etc for Skylines and Mitsi Evos but not as yet VWs. They'd have to be custom made by a specialist composite company at an astronomical cost. Kev
  15. You also need to partially undo the inner arch liner and lift it out from behind the bumper. There is also a long metal strip underneath with several screws, these need to come off too. Regarding the bumper bolts, there are 3 in a row, undo the outer two and leave the middle one in place. A good mod actually is to replace the rubber cross member mounts (there are two at each end) with powerflex yellow poly ones. Reduces engine rocking a fair bit. Kev

    G60 Top Speed

They're quite tall to make use of the engine's torque and I suspect that just as Vauxhall do, they used tall ratios to get decentish mpg figures. 4th gear is my favourite. 5th just feels too flat until you get the car up to 95-100mph. 4th pulls nicely from about 35ish and just keeps going way past 100mph  Kev
  17. It clips into the offside trim below the fogs/indicators. Kev
  18. There's something i have always considered. any idea how much it would cost for a pro to do it? Sorry I don't know mate. I was thinking of incorporating seam welding with a respray. I reckon it'll cost a fair bit. Kev
  19. I really don't know what the deal is here, I walked into the dealer and got the blades off the shelf but had to wait until the following morning for the arms. Many other cars use the same system now, so keep an eye out for Halfords selling them soon. Kev
  20. Good call Mr Charged. I travel the 300 mile round trip to Stealth fairly often because nobody knows VR6s like Vince Saiya. Kev
  21. You only need to remove the s/roof assembly if one of the cable guides snaps. Kev
  22. Erm....that is no Storm. Wrong colour, wrong wheels and £5750 is way too much for an undesirable Auto. Kev

    hi guys

1000 Corrados still on the road  Kev
  24. You don't get any beefier than Mocal my friend. You could drive over the damn thing and it will keep it's shape  No tricky bits involved with the mocal. Plug and play, off you go  Kev
