i got fully synth 10 40 magnatec

after some evasive action on a country lane and gionig through a massive puddle my engine seems to be running a bit rough. immediately after the incident i had no power in any gear and the car was spluttering. afte rthat it started to sound like an old beetle engine. it finally cleared but felt really hesitant. now when cold it seems like it has developed a flatspot then clears its throat and pulls like a train as per normal. or am i being paranoid??

ahh right i have fully synth castrol gtx in mine and the oil temps get quite high sometimes as high as 120!! would that explain it the thin oil. whats the reccomended semi syn th. what weight. mine has just done 100k and with no mods but they r planned. it doesn't use an excessive amount of oil as it is tho!

ok cool i'll tune mine i think. i wanna keep it a while so i think i'll tune it up and when i can afford supercharge!

my mate has just written off his 94 vr6 auto. its all body damage and it runs fine. however, my manual vr6 has just breached 100k and his auto engine has done 68k. i'm interested in knowing how easy the swap woulod be to get the lower mile engine in my car using my manual gearbox. will the ecu's need swapping too and how will this effect the change to a manual gearbox. what else would need changing. my car is the same year nad both engines have the coil pack rather than the dizzy. would it actually be worth it for the less miles?? how much would it cost if i had it done at a garage (roughly) thanks, matt

any suggestions for mods and stuff?? the red one is running bout 215 bhp and apparently was pulling well at 155 but my mate bottled it. he reckons it will pull 160 on the clock. what can i do to beat his mods, as mine is standard at the moment????

the red one has amd remap, custom stainless and home :evil: made induction using an alloy cone filter encased in an alloy box to shield it from the heat of the engine, this is after experiencing rough running with a "naked"k&n induction kit. it has clocked 155mph!! the blue one (mine) is just lowered at the moment, but when funds allow i plan to tune as the red rocket. amd remap, and a stainless system.

yeah just ahd my wheels aligned and my steering wheel sits to the left. just cos the roads round this area are so cambered the garage thought they had set it straight. just a 24mm soket and adjust to the straight ahead and your done! :D

oh dear my vr wanders a bit and feels a bit vague too. i also get a wobble through the steering wheel like the balancing is out at around 80. new rack. my car is quite low and has a fair amount of camber on the fromnt wheels. any ideas. i really hope its not the rack cos i have spent so much on the car in the last 2 months (thermosta housing, new rad, fuel leak, cv boot, 4 wheel alignment etc). how much are the recon racks from gsf?? how hard/long to replace? how long can i drive it if it is worn???

on inspection last nigt i think it might be runnin in from the top of the door and buildin up at the bottom near to the front wheel. i sealed up th e membrane so the saga continues. i'll still reseal this area tho so cheers :D

in the search for my water leak dripping into the passenger footwell. checked the door membrane and resealed but trying to get the meshed box (dunno how else to describe) that lets air into the cabin ( an intake i guess!?!?) off i couldn't work out how to get it off to reseal it underneath. i hope you no what i am talking bout. how exactly does it come out? i can see it must slide to release but i couldn't move it and feared breaking it. any advice would be really appreciated as i hate havinmg to spend hours with the carpet up and the hairdryer on tryin to dry it out! :(

i tried to get my cage out to sort this on my car but couldn't get it out. all clips really stiff and didn't want to break it. can ne one give me a little guide how to get it out.

had 140 on the clock 3 up in mine whipping a type r into shape. 143 on my own. feels rock solid and really comfy. has got coilovers but thats it. for now. when funds allow i think amd remap and a powerflow zorst are on the cards. and a k+n panel filter too! :twisted:

my tracking and camber are wellout on my vr6, but i had to hve new tyres fitted before i get this sorted (next week). however i have noticed a bit of a wobble coming through the seering wheel at speed. as the wheels have been balanced i don't think it could be that so could all the geometry being all over the place cause the wobble?? it doesn' happen at low speeds, upto 40 approx. plus does a 2.8 golf sump fit and work on a 2.9?? :(

no its got a clifford on it tho?? fingers crossed it was a loose feed pipe which came off really easily in the guys hand and apparently they should be hard to get off. now got it attached nice and tight so hopefully all will be ok but i am checkin every 5 mins worrying bout it!!

paint them gun metal or grey with a dimonond cut rim. that would look cool!! if not i reckon they would look cool but they are a bast*** to clean. had some 15 inch super t's and it takes ages!!
