  8. ooops ive since read that they are spline headed bolts and i dont have the kit to take them out.Theres that idea out of the window then  Need to just get the outer joint off..............
  9. I've been on for an hour and the thing won't budge.I am considering taking the whole driveshaft out but i need to know if there is anything i should be aware other than the six allen bolts that may need replacing or special attention should be paid to.Do i need to replace anything .....Cheers
  10. ive had a good rake around but cant seem to see any circlip.Tried tapping it with a hammer but it wont come off.Dont want to belt it too hard incase it causes damage.
  11. Im in the middle of renewing my outer cv boot and am at the point where i need to get the cv joint off the driveshaft so i can fit the new boot.Ive read different views on the forum, some saying a special tool is needed others saying it can be just hammered off.Any ideas pleeez? Also is there a circlip or something holding it on which i need to remove.Cheers
  12. hi phil. Its sorted but i dont know if its proper or not.I think the problem was what u said ie the thermostat trapping the rest of the coolant in the engine. What i eventualy did was to run a hose pipe down the expansion tank until it ran clear from the bottom of the radiator then i put it all back together and poured in as much new coolant as i could. Then i ran it to get the air out. There still was no way i could get more new colant in so i drained out some of the mixture from the expansion tank and then topped up with even more new neat g12.Hopefully the mix will be somewhere about right now.But im now worried that i didnt get all the old stuff out.....as u said it will have been trapped by the thermostat being closed.
  13. :( i could only get about 2 litres of new coolant back in :(
  14. thanks mate.I understand wot u mean.Only worries i have is that enough of the old stuff is out for me to be able to get my 2 bottles of the new stuff in.
  15. cheers supercharged.Gonna try that as we speak.Fingers crossed.Just worried about getting the right mix back in cos dont really know how much has actually drained out and if there will always be a residual amount left in that cant be drained out.Im sure only about 2-2.5litre came out?
  16. heater is on hot (but apparantly it doesnt matter) and the car is on the flat mate.Maybe it is an airlock?
  17. is that not a bit drastic?i got told it was as easy as draining it from the hoses.Plus i have no way of getting a new seal for the thermostat (or anything else!) at this time of night
  18. Tryin to change my coolant and as per instructions ive removed the top and bottom radiator hoses(at the radiatorends) but the only water that has drained out is what was in the radiator and a little bit that was in the pipes themselves. There has no where near the full amount come out.How do i drain the rest of it out?????????Emergency....need it sortin asap as i need car for tomorrow.Cheers in advance
  19. so theres no drain plugs in the block or anywhere else that i should know about? Cheers guys and a merry xmas to all u crazy kids out there
  20. cheers andy.I was just a bit confused as the "how to" i read on here mentioned drain plugs and plastic transfer tubes and what not.Guess it must be for a vr6.Didnt realise it was just as simple as taking the hoses off then re filling it(via the header tank i assume?).PS ive never seen a storm trooper do that before..What would lord vader say
  21. so i just have to undo my top and bottom radiator hoses then?is that it.Is there no drain plugs in the block or anything like that.Sounds a bit too easy to me.Am i missing something i dont want to balls it up when i do it??????????
  22. I am about to change my coolant and i have bought my g12 and i was looking on the forum and found a post on how to do it but i think it was for a vr6.I dont know if this is the same for my car but if it is then i guess i just didnt understand what was being said(plastic transfer tubes n stuff with drain plugs in them??????????).Does anyone know or have a step by step guide for eejits on how to change the coolant on this model please.Cheers
  23. cheers scruffy.u know wot i was on about.Ive bought a new bolt to replace the old one so its fingers crossed now...........
