Nailed it! This is the very car and thread I was thinking of. I wonder what the hell happened to it? Also did some more digging on the registrations and found out more. It also turns out that there were more Corrados after F241BVV which followed the registration. So basically there were other F plate Corrados out there which were never press cars, but were sold to the general public. I wonder how many F plate Corrados were sold, and how many remain?

Just found this. Press cars have BVV letters. Looks like you commented on this a decade ago! I wonder what became of Mave's old car?
-
Interesting reading. What are the registrations of the press cars?
-
Yeah, I've tracked it for years. Cheers anyway though! I knew of it's sister car H368RHL as well - both were personal company cars (and then weekend toys) for two business partners for a whole decade. They were sold off at pretty much the same time and were both really well looked after, one owner, ten year old cars. 368 lost the fight six or seven years ago iirc.

Fair enough. Here goes: Does anyone know if any of the F plate Corrados still survive? They were press cars iirc. When I owned my tornado red C in 2000 (where are you now H369RHL?) I often used to see one on an F plate locally. I'm sure I read a thread on them on the forum years ago, but can't find anything now.

Nice one. Thanks for that. The forum is no use to me if I can't post. My point entirely. I visit here very occasionally and dont post often. I'm still an early forum member though. I have no intention of paying £15 to ask one question, hence finally giving in with facebook. Forums are now few and far between and I admit I still like the concept. I'm a regular on a general car forum elsewhere and the model there is based on voluntary contributions as opposed to imposed membership fees for proper access. It's worked perfectly for the last two years. Anyway, I didn't come here to stir up a hornet's nest - I came to ask one question about a car model I'm still rather fond of.

Thanks for the reply. Sad times. I appreciate forums have running costs, but am also aware they're a dying breed. I haven't owned a Corrado for years, but like to read and post on here every now and then. I still have an interest. As a non-owner though, I can't justify spending £15 for the infrequent pleasure. Social media has killed platforms like this, so forums now, more than ever need to try hard to keep encouraging members. Infrequent, longer-term members are stil part of the community. It's a sad goodbye. I've avoided it until now, but it I've finally given in and requested to join the Facebook owners page. Cheerio.

Hi all, I joined many years ago. I owned my first Corrado H369RHL in 2000 - a tornado ted 16 valver (it appears to have been on sorn since 2006 if anyone knows of it!) . I bought another valver in Bordeaux red in around 2003. I've dropped in here over the years as I'm still interested in them. Most recently I owned a mk2 Golf with a 2.8 VR6 conversion. I'd like to post a question in the main car chat area - any ideas why I'm not able to do so?

Stunning looking VR. Great to see you've owned it for years and kept it regardless, as well. They're still such good looking things, despite the design being over 25 years old.

I owned a couple of valvers several years ago, but occasionally drop into the forum to have a nose (and when I again start to lust for a VR6 'Rado!). Just read your thread from start to finish, and I have got to say you deserve a massive virtual pat on the back. Amazing work, and HUGE congrats on getting the old girl mot'd after all this time. The early photos looked pretty scary, but you've proved that hard work and commitment get the results! I'm impressed with the general look of the bodywork on your car - it looks really clean and straight - surprisingly so, considering the photos of the suspension and underside initially! Keep up the good work 8)

Anyone got a spare, or know where I could source a new one? Mine is pretty much knackered, and I could do with a decent replacement asap. Anyone?
-
Cheers all. Will give it a go when this bleddy rain clears off!

I'm running a 2.8 VR6 in my mk2 Golf, but thought I'd ask on here as as a previous owner of 2 Corrados ;) My throttle damper is 'slow' - after lifting off the throttle pedal, the revs take a couple of seconds to drop down to idle, which is a pain when driving. I've removed the damper and manually worked it, and it confirms that it's slow to return. I'm assuming it's not a serviceable part? I pulled the rubber cover back and dropped some oil in a while back, but to no avail. Any idea where I'd source one, and are they the same part for all VR6 engines? Mines' OBD2. Just to confirm, I'm talking about the thing with a screw thread and and orange boot! Cheers in advance...

I see I never updated this... I ended up spraying a fine mist of oil over the outside of the coilpack and it was arcing like some sort of rave illumination. Needless to say, a new one is needed!

I'm gonna stick my head on the line here. Unlike say the mk2 Golf, Corrados just don't have the Uk (and international) following. They were always the quirky cousin to the mk2 and due to this, never received the following which they deserved. As a result, values have plummeted and if owners have a ropey one, they seem to lean towards breaking it, rather than repairing. I remember only 5 ish years ago on here that the mentality was if someone suggested they were going to break their C for parts, members would question it. Now the general feeling is that it'll help out owners with parts, and make the remaining cars that little bit more unique. Now don't get me wrong, I love Corrados. I've owned 2 in the past and have had an interest in them for 13+ years. After owning valvers, I always fancied a VR, and started to look properly about 12 months ago. Then, without warning, a Vr converted mk2 Golf appeared on the radar and it ticked every box for me (apart from the fact it wasn't a Corrado!). I've also owned mk2 Golfs in the past. The result is a car which gets looks absolutely everywhere I go, sounds fantastic, pulls like a train and feels pretty special. The fact that everybody who chats to me about it loves mk2's is just a bonus. I don't think I've found one person yet who hasn't smiled when they've had a proper look, listen or outing in it. The feeling I get with it is the same feeling I had with my first valver Corrado years ago - people stopped in their tracks then, too. Anyway, here's the car in question: I just can't see myself selling the mk2 for the foreseeable. I love it. However, IF I did, and only IF, I would consider looking at Corrado VR6's once again. The side profile and rear (oo'er missus ;)) are a beautiful design. The front end never quite worked for me, but the rest of the design more than makes up for it. If I did look for a VR Corrado, I could see myself aiming for something like this (yes, I know it's a G60 - in fact it was a 200bhp G60 apparently)... All I can finish with saying really, is look after what you've got, and keep on enjoying the smile factor!

Cheers all. Is there a guide on coilpacks on here? It's all new to me... My previous corrados over the years were both valvers. Since my engine is a later VR, isn't it just one coilpack block as such, therefore the whole thing would need replacement if faulty? 'Scuse my ignorance! (On an aside, is it bad of me to continue to lust after a storm grey metallic Corrado Vr6, even though I absolutely love my mk2 to bits, and enjoy the endless positive attention it receives?! :))

Not directly 'Rado related, but thought I'd ask as it's a friendly place and could potentially be a well known problem? My current daily is a mk2 Golf with an OBD2 2.8 vr6 conversion. The car's been in storage since for about 9 months, but I pressed it into daily service a couple of weeks ago. Latterly, the engine is missing at tickover, and when I hold the throttle halfway (or in other positions!) I can feel it missing as well. Basically it ain't totally happy and it seems to be getting worse. Any obvious suggestions aside from leads and plugs?

Bournemouth/Poole Meet Saturday 20th April
wafers replied to Rams's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
Some stunning looking 'Rados there! I really like the pair in the second shot. I lived in Dorchester from 2000 to 2005 and met up with John Munyard and several others with my first Corrado valver in Bournemouth probably in about 2001. Great to see several of them together so many years later! -
Just sticking out the feelers in case anyone knows of a storm grey VR for sale. Cheers
-
I always wonder the fate of my red valver H369 RHL. Sold to Lucy Green in Dorset from what I remember (about 10 years ago) and it has been SORNed for a few years now. Whoever owns it doesn't want to let go, theoretically.
-
Sorry to hear you eventually fell out of love with your Corrado John. After spending ££££££ like that though, I can kind of see why! As for the demise of the car, what with it being a Nothelle car n'all that, is it not worth selling it complete, in the hope someone else will bring it back to life? Obviously your car and your choice though. I hope its replacement is equally as fruity! Nick (I owned the red valver when I met up with you guys near Bournemouth - I remember a lovely yellow G60 in the car park - would that have been Renshaw?)
