Someday - all cars will be made this way
-
Maybe we could all share a field with the concrete cows thay have near Milton Keynes...............LOL
-
Any ideas where we could all stay on the Saturday night ???
-
I'd say that the VR6 isn't any more fuel hungry than a G60 in day to day motoring really. But if you're used to that "fun" power surge, then I'd say stick with the GCharger that you know well and go for the G60. They're more of a fun car to chuck around as they're not as front-heavy, so handle (slightly) better..... Just my 0.2 (puts on flame-proof suit again!) Agreed :thumbleft:

Well done mate - those new Golf GTI's put out around 180bhp Bet his g/f was pissed off Before I sorted my timing out the week before last, I had one struggling to keep up with me. Not a prayer in hell now though
-
Anybody up for travelling the day before (Saturday) and maybe getting pi55ed & camping overnight somewhere close by ??
-
No problem  Doesn't fit into the ECU very well - like a kind of "piggy back" chip, quite bulky. Didn't really like it when first fitted. Seemed to highlight a few existing bad engine adjustments (timing). Now they're all sorted and my new R1 charger is really starting to open up. :thumbleft:

I'll be there

http://corrado.atx-hosting.co.uk/viewtopic.php?p=22088 Maybe we could all meet on Saturday 23rd August afternoon, fairly close to this place. Stay over somewhere close and then on the Sunday travel what would then be a short distance to the CCGB national day ?? Milton Keynes is a bit of a concrete jungle but there's some nice villages fairly close by.

Why not ask him to MOT the car before you buy it ??
-
Nice one - if it's better than the Superchip i've got, I'll take one off your hands.
-
Campsite sounds good - can't have any beers if we all have to drive home the same day.
-
I'm rather proud of my average - approx 24mpg overall !! No Sunday-driving from me :pirate:

I think it boils down to what you want to do with the car. (touchpaper time  ) The G60 (when modded) is a real "drivers" car. It has far better balance & handling than the VR6 due to a lighter engine. The torque (in mine at least) is awesome. The VR is smoother & more suited to motorway driving - although the 2 that I have driven also handled fairly well on the B roads. If you like proper "eyeballs out" driving then it's got to be the G60

Any colour you like - so long as it's black

Not sure if this has been done before  LowG - do you have access to a laptop computer & a microphone/headphones ?? Thinking maybe you could plug the microphone/headphones into the microphone socket on the laptop. Take this outside to your car, record the knocking noise and then post it on the group

Incorrect timing on a G60 will not necessarily cause a misfire or pinking. The ECU takes a signal from the blue temp sensor and a signal from the knock sensor. If required, it then electronically retards the timing to prevent pinking. Incorrect timing would, however, cause your lack of power even though the car may idle perfectly well. Disconnecting the blue temp sensor while the engine is running will disable this corrective timing by the ECU. If the car still runs when the sensor is disconnected then it's not a timing problem I was thinking more along the lines of some form of timing pulley or belt problem which may have caused the timing to be more severely out of adjustment (possible knocking noise). Without actually hearing the noise it's very difficult to say what it might be.

Have you done/had done any engine work recently ?? Does engine still idle if you disconnect blue temp sensor while it's running ?? Thinking along lines of possible cambelt/timing problem

How much will VW charge for new radiator?? (VR-Fitted)

Did you get one of those nice expensive photos ?? -
Possible clutch master cylinder problem (fits to bulkhead in engine compartment and connects to pedal)
