That will be fine mate. If you make sure the engine is cold first though.

With the new machines and the way the tests are done, you cant get passed without a cat if you are required to have one. It not just the emissions its the type of emissions as well.

Welcome to the forum

Doesnt appear to be anything to worry about mate.
-
Agreed, I am doing this at the moment. I have the front end off cause I am doing the rad/oil cooler at the same time which makes it easier.

I prefer the clear by far

I got what I think is address off YELL.com. I think its right does 104, Southfields Rd, Littlehampton, West Sussex BN17 6PD sound right to anyone?
-
JUST! The new laws are much more stringent on emissions and its harder (almost impossible) get past without a cat if your supossed to have one. Your a lucky boy Joniboy!

I am trying to get onto it but I am getting an error. Is it just me or is anyone else having problems? I am after their address.

Thanks for the kongo127, for the response. I didnt think I had made myself very clear, I have got new parts, its the areas on the engine itself that I was talking about (ie the area that you mount the thermostat onto, the oil cooler etc). I think I will just have a go with wire wool to clean the areas on the engine up then mount the new parts on them. Cheers

Only a few BHP but I imagine the torque would be better

Its not a massive hassle. The biggest hassle I imagine would be getting the thing off first. After that its a pretty quick to jack it up and swap it over. But it wont pass an MOT with a decat on, nope.

Hello This is a stupid question I know, but I am currently replacing a lot of cooling parts and installing a oil cooler. Where the parts go into engine and its a bit rusty (ie where the water pipe goes into the block and oil cooler) should I clean it up when putting the new parts on to get a better seal, ie remove the rust? What should I use, wire wool etc? Thanks

Question about oil cooler end cap and removal
Son of a Beesting replied to Son of a Beesting's topic in Engine Bay
OK, its strange that VW decided that should be different on cars. I guess mine MIGHT be one unit. I will call VW and see if I can buy just an end cap then. I know what your saying about the stealth kit, but unless the end cap costs more than £100 its still cheaper to go through G-werks. -
Has anyone brought a heater control facia from ECP?
Son of a Beesting replied to Son of a Beesting's topic in Suppliers Forum
Yeah that what my thoughts were. -
Hello I have taken out the standard oil cooler from my VR6. I need to remove the centre bolt (the bit that goes through the oil cooler into the block) from the end cap. I have seen pictures of it removed, but when looking on ETKA it appears that the threaded bit is part of the alloy cap. Are you able to seperate them? Can I just buy I new end cap on its own? Thanks

I believe the passat ones will fit OK with a minor modification to the unit. Try a forum search. Yeah I had read that. But if I can get a genuine one for £40 surely that would be better? And fit properly. -

Nice, now clean up the charger, it looks really dirty next to the new pipework!

have you guys looked into screw extractor sets? You can get them in most places and worth a go. Might save you some time. Snap on do a kit for about £50 but you can get them much cheaper.
