  1. Hi again :D My car has had a few electrical probs the last few days for example the interior light loom is broken somewhere and is telling my alarm that the doors are open  But this afternoon i started my car and got to the end of the road and the alt light on the dash came on, so i stopped the car and checked the alt and belt and everything looked ok, I then tried to start the car and it wouldnt even turn over. Walked back up the road and got my girlfriends car to jump start mine and the alt light stayed on all the way home. I left the car running whille i went to the garage and it cut out, when i then looked at the dash there were no electrics at all. Im assuming that its the alternator if anybody things otherwise please let me know asap cos im picking one up from my mate who has a spares shop in town he wants £75 for a brand new one, is this a fair price? I was thinking should i uprate the alt while i need one im not sure what other will work on my car and give a higher output does anybody know. Cheers J

    16V INLET MANIFOLD

Not on Huddersfieds roads, ive got to deal with potholes the size of Jupiter round here, and the police seem to be all over the M62 at the moment. If i can get hold of a cheep one i might have a go  just in the name of science of course.

    16V INLET MANIFOLD

I dont think ill bother then, i like the power ive got (for now) and i dont really need any more high end power cos where r u gonna use it apart from a track. Thanks Gavin
  11. I have heard from a mate of mine at work today that you can swap the inlet manifold from a Golf 16v straight on to my Corrado, is this right and is the golf one bigger, i think he said its 50mm. What gains will i get from swapin them, and do i need to swap both parts.

    Smoothing ???

If i remember correctly the law says that all cars produced after 1984 must have side repeters, but i would say its down to how frendly you are with your MOT guys.

    Starting from cold

Sorry this is the 1st chance ive had to post today. I woke up to frost everywhere today so was expecting the car not to start, but as soon as i turned the key it was alive and well. So i think i might have solved this problem (for me anyhow) The only down side i seem to have now is a little bit of irratic idle but not all the time, so will have to look into that now.

    Dirty Bastard
  16. One of the best places to buy ICE is the mailorder companys in the back of Maxpower etc. I took the mag to a shop in Manchester that had an ad for a head unit i wanted it costs over £300 in halfords and the ad was for only £120, when he put it through the til it came up as £420 but had to do it at the advert price but had to pay for the postage that the mail order side of the company would have charged £10, so i got a bargain. I dont know what kind of deals there are at the mo cos i only really read Golf+ or PVW. But ther were loads of sub/Amp deals when i last looked.
  17. I went to london from yorkshire to buy my car and i was told it had 12mths MOT/TAX when i got ther it had no mot or tax, so i knocked some money off for these (i wouldnt normally buy a car without an MOT) took it next day for the mot and it failed on the rear brake pipes and handbrake same as beeftech, i think i was lucky and it only cost me £100 to fix :)

    Smooth Front Bumper

But wont the filler crack over time.
  19. Fair point, but if something (touch wood) did happen i think the emergency services would just smash your window.
  20. Ive seen a few cars with the front number plate recess removed/smoothed,im told that its plastic welded but have no idea of how its done. Can i buy a bumper like this or do i need to take it to a body shop, If so can anybody recomend a body shop in Yorkshire that has done this work before.
  21. Would it pass the MOT if you took the handles off and welded then filled the holes?, Ive seen this on a few cars.

    Starting from cold

Right i did some work to my car yesterday afternoon. Ive changed the oil, oilfilter, fuel filter, gearbox oil, plugs, leads, cap, rotor arm, recon starter, and fitted new leads and connectors from the alt-starter-batt. Ive also put some Slick 50 in with the oil,Slick fuel treatment in and slick gearbox treatment. Then took the car to Blackpool with my girlfriend to run everything in. It was a very cold night last night and when i came to start it up this morning i was expecting the same starting probs, but as soon as i turned the key she started and purred away as if there had never been anything wrong. The test will be tommorrow cos it hasnt been running since 11 this morning. Fingers crossed.
