Cheers Its really strange cos when it idles the MPGs go down and if i drive "normal" they go up but the highest ive got it to on the way back from work is 18.1 :( Do you kniow where i can get a replacement pipe from, if only vw do you have a part number.

Hi sorry to jump in on this thread but i now have the same prob on my 1.8 16v. I left my car to idle on the drive for about 2 min and when i got in the MFA said 9.1 MPG :shock: , when i took the car out i got about 15.8 MPG after a 10 mile round trip. I had a look under the bonnet and one of the really thin tubes that go from the airbox to the back of the engine somewhere has rubbed through and has a hole in it. Do you think this is the problem.

I have just changed my dash (instrument) lights to led ones cos when I bought the car I thought all the bulbs had blown but there were no bulbs at all. When fitting I noticed that the green strip that makes the colour for norm bulbs was also gone but that’s ok as the leds are green, after I put everything back ive been left with a very dull light from them and I assume that its because the leds are shining straight ahead and not at the dials. Question is if I was to get some diffused leds would they work better, if not what else can I do to improve the light. Cheers J

Drive it in the rain - your first "mod" will follow shortly afterwards. Standard Corrado windscreen wipers are crap. You'll soon be down at the dealers buying some new Lupo GTI wiper arms & blades. :wink: Drive it in the rain, and at night ;) and do over 50mph :lol: And with your eyes shut :roll: :lol:

Thanks for the offer but VW came through today and got a new one for me. Ive had a look and the old one isnt still on the cap and must have been taken off at some point.

Im 99% sure that Its 17mm, my last MK2 had small bumbers and i changed them for big and used the same bolts and im sure there 17mm.

As above but also make sure the amps remote cable is big enough, Mine keeped cuttin out when i cracked it up and it was the remote cable.

HI, my expansion tank seems to be missing the rubber O ring that fits in to the cap. Does anybody have the part number for this or know where i might get a cheep one. Cheers J

My car did this when i first fitted Gavins loom until i read the bottom part of his instructions :oops: If the car has a dim-dip facility i.e. the headlights come on dimly at the same time as the sidelights. The dim-dip will need to be disconnected. This is fitted to most, post ’88 cars. At the front right hand side of the engine compartment you will find the series resistor, it looks like a coil about 10cm long. Disconnect the yellow and the yellow and black wires and insulate them. I dont think he can see how bad his car looks cos he's always got his shades on to block the glare from the bright white interior, makes you wonder if he cleans it using ultrabrite toothpaste :D I think the front looks a lot like a BM and the back is better but needs to have the spoiler working.

Very nice red unknown model or reg heading in to Hull on the A64 (i think). I was going other way so only saw a flash, but looked very clean. Today at about 3.30pm

There the twist ones in my car so thats what ive ordered, Im getting some UV ones so that the white numbers and needles will glow 8) Ill see what they look like and post some pics up ASAP.
