i met someone who thought his L reg 328i BM was the best car in the world..... he asked my mate about respraying the bonnest of the BM and when asked how good a job he wanted (bodyshop or shed type job), he said "its a 328 BMW, of course i want a perfect job" at this point i wanted to knock him to the ground and set fire to his car, but being a 328 im sure it is fire proof aswell!! complete w@nker

using red diesel in your car is a big no no, u must pay the tax man what he deserves. after all it does pay for our roads to be in such excellent condition......

the MFA stalks can go faulty which happened to me and ive checked and double checked all my documents. i agree it can be a sign of clocking but not all the time. i think if the battery voltage drops it can wipe the MFA aswell

i guess the nuts just rattled loose. its not a big issue but the noise was really getting on my thrupneys!gave all the nuts a good tightning  and no more blowing manifold!! an unusual cheap fix! cheers for the input guys

problem solved....ill put the two missing nuts back onto my manifold should i?!?!?!?

i would say the tapping is quite loud. you can notice it easily inside the car. you can hear it all the time except for flat out on the throttle (at high revs) and when you back off the throttle.
-
i have had that little bad boy split before and its not that this time. i did wonder if it could be a knackered injector as it sounds like its coming from that area around the throttle body?
-
my car seems to have developed a strange tapping from around the throttle body. i cant decide if its a tapping or an exhaust blowing noise though.... its coming from the right hand side of the throttle body but i cant feel the exhaust or manifold blowing so im not convinced its the exhaust system. i know its a bit of a long shot but i was wondering if anybody had any suggestions......... cheers, Rob

they did do a 4x4 cav turbo. hate to say it but they are pretty nippy. did the turbo engines have anything to do with cosworth then? not a massive vaux expert thank the lord!!!

just replaced the front wheel bearings instead!!bit of a pain in the hoop but we got there in the end.used a press on one side and the hammer/socket/old bearing technique on the other side.
-
have you had the car chipped? i have found that a jabbasport chip did this to mine as it overfuelled alot. get rid quick if you have one
-
not afraid to use a bit of hammer and socket action!!! cheers for the info, ill look forward to the doing this job
-
quick question lads, how hard is it to change rear wheel bearings before i go and get my hands dirty?is there an inner and outer bearing or it a single big fat bearing? cheers, Rob

a similar situation happened after i fitted my rallye intercooler. not really that concerned because, like Gavin said, the ambient temperature is higher outside which will affect the cars temperatures. just makes the car a bit slower as the air intake temperature is higher...... :-(

could someone please tell me the difference between the 8v and 16v ISV please? cheers, Rob

yeah the timing was set between 2 and 2500 rpm with the blue water temp sensor off.mite just check the timing again tomorrow. this isnt a belt slip issue is it or just leaking boost? i couldnt really understand it as its only happening in 4th and 5th gears!!!
-
so if the isv bleeds off the boost at 0.8 bar, then putting a smaller pulley on wont do much as the boost will still bleed off at 0.8 bar?
