The idea with PID is you set a target value and then you the PID to maintain that value. So the Proportional figure is what you would use to set how far above and below your target value you can go, then the Integral time is used to control the speed of reaction. So for tight control I would set a low P and low I. This would make the valve move small amounts and often. A longer I and larger P with give a smoother operation but potentially less control. If the thing you are controlling moves quickly I would try and lower my PI values and see if it reacts quick enough to get to my target value and stabilise.

I know a man who can probably map your dta for you. He has mapped my MBE and my mates emerald with no problems. I was looking at your cam control PID loop and wondering why you were using PD rather than PI? When I'm doing closed loop PID systems at work I tend to not bother with D and work with PI. Usually get good results with just those two. That is for proportional valves mainly. What sort of control are you after with that loop?

Cool. I wish I could help you out, it's fascinating. I think I need to invest in some wideband monitoring, for piece of mind. Glad the MBE doesn't have as many functions, too much to mess up!!

good stuff Kev, some serious functionality there with the DTA. Are you mapping with a wideband afr gauge in the car? Are you mapping on the fly on your own, or are you passengering with a driver?

Where abouts in the world are you? If you are near me I will happily come and help you out. Apart from that I don't have any spare parts, but offer my sympathies. Hopefully the scoats will get hit by a bus or develop a terminal disease. Karma

The Sheffield steel work authority did a study and found that 16 people a year die from incorrectly wiping. This can be drastically reduced through the use of a servant or hard hat.

Where can you walk to quicker than drive that involves a motorway or dual carriageway? If it is quicker to walk there while it is 70, what is the cut off point where it becomes quicker to drive? 71,72,78? Published by the British medical journal? Well they are clearly a bunch of idiots. Are they also saying that the 70 speed limit was the cause of the crash on the m5? If it was 80 it would have been worse? Really? I think the fact that visibility was seriously reduced was the cause. The cars should probably have been going closer to 40 than 70. So again a flawed argument. Rise in road deaths? It happened in America, so it must be true then. Excellent reporting to whoever wrote that. The annoying thing is people will believe it as well!

I shall give it a go when my joining request is accepted ;-)

The weather is foul here at the moment. Take it steady. Have fun in watton, it's a hole. The burger van next to emerald isn't bad though!

Aren't you a little early?!

I'm my opinion lm's are the best looking wheel for a Corrado. In 17" though. Good luck with your purchase, I dare say they will look the dingleberries when they are fitted.

Thread resurrection! Try behind the centre console at the bottom

Are you running the standard turbo intake pipe? If so ditch it and get a silicone one, this will stop the intake pipe collapsing when you go onto boost.

I can't imagine it's very easy getting money back from the bank! Glad it's sorted though -

That sucks mate. Are you trying to claim a credit card transaction or a debit card transaction back? I know when I had to claim money back from performance trim the credit card company just asked me what I had done and then probably looked into it themselves. didn't need a letter or anything. It can take up to a month before the company has to register its insolvency with companies house from what I believe, so you may just have to wait for this. Good luck -
Fair enough then. Well on my alarm, there is a control box at the bottom of the centre console, which has the dip switches on. This will become apparent if you can find it. The main siren unit in the engine bay has a key switch on it, this deactivates the siren on mine. Swompy, I'm not sure how to re-activate it. Does it have a keyswitch on a siren in the engine bay?

Mine is a laserline V3 so it's not standard, have a bill from the original install. When I took the old alarm system out of another corrado it didn't look like a laserline module. Anyway, I'm often wrong so I wouldn't be surprised if it is standard! Here is the procedure for my alarm (shamelessly stolen from the search) "As for reprogramming a laserline fob it can be done. I have instructions for 996V2/996V3/919/917/776/719. As follows:- Note when programming a new fob ALL existing fobs/touch keys must be programmed in also. The system will accept a maximum of 4 fobs and two touch keys. Procedure: 1. Ensure that the alarm system is fully disabled using and existing fob/touch key. 2. Locate the alarm control box. 3. Turn on the vehicle ignition 4. Set Dip switch 3 to the ON position. If the LED is ON go to step 6 5. Press and release the arm/disarm button on a valid remote or insert a valid touch key. The LED will light continuously. 6. Press and release the arm/disarm button on the new fob (or insert and remove the touch key). This will be acknowledged by the led going off then on again. 7. Repeat step 6 with ALL fobs/keys to be programmed onto the system. 8. Set dip switch 3 back to off position and turn off ignition. 9. Test all new fobs/keys. " This works for me so it's a start

its not a standard alarm, but its easy enough to sort out. look for an instruction manual. involves locating the unit (behind centre console I would guess) and flicking a dip switch before programming the fob. takes a few minutes

I like the look of that, might be going on my christmas list

possibly the coolest thing ever

I've spent a few thousand there on a nice engine which turned out to be scrap along with numerous trips to the workshop to try and get things sorted with no success. No return of email or phone call most of the time. So yeah, plenty of my own bad experience.

Fair enough. I understand he is your mate, but a lot of people seem to feel like they have had awful dealings with them. So I feel I have as much right to slate them as everybody who loved them praises them.

Perhaps he could take a look at all the comments people have made and then use them to help evaluate where it went wrong.
