  1. They are pretty much indestructable! The bumpers are like RSJ's!!
  2. You should try driving an old Land Rover (it's one of my partners vehicles) with a 2.5 litre diesel engine with no power steering! Mind you the clutch kills your leg as well. Considering what a c**p turning circle there is in it, by the time you've actually got into or out of a parking space your arms are dead and your leg is shaking all over the place trying to use the clutch!!
  3. I'm 29 - will be scary 30 next year!! I've only had 5 cars since I've been driving (kept the last one for over 5 years and my partner now has it), history as follows: 19-20 Fiat Uno 55s 3 door 20-23 VW Beetle 22-24 BMW 318i 4 door saloon (E30) 24-29 BMW 318is coupe auto (E36) 29+ VW Corrado 2.0 16v
  4. I'll give it a go then when I leave work in 15 mins, then if it works I can drive home with all my matching leather accessories! Gearknob (new from dealer), steering wheel (tatty and worn from ebay), and handbrake grip (good condition from ebay).
  5. So pablo_vr6 are we talking about the tab behind the pin thing?
  6. This clip we're talking about, are we actually talking about the pin bit itself or the tab just behind it? Should I just try and lever it down with a flat bladed screw driver while pulling on the grip? Is the grip clipped in at the top as well or just at the bottom?
  7. If I got some from JustMatz do you think it would look tacky if I had the binding in a dark green to sort of match the colour of my 'Green Pearl' car?
  8. I only got the car just over two weeks ago and wanted it properly serviced to make sure that I knew about anything that needed doing. Not knowing any specialists in the area I decided to take it to VW, plus it's got a full VW history apart from one service by the previous owner. I had it serviced last Friday and it's going back in tomorrow for a new cambelt and tensioner, new pas and alternator belts, new coolant bottle and brake fluid change! Bit miffed about the cambelt as I checked through all the documentation that came with the car - they kept everything! And the cambelt was done only 20k miles ago, but apparently it's really the tensioner that needs replacing rather than the belt (but that will be replaced as well). Apparently it's not usual to always replace the tensioner at the same time as the belt. Anyway, if anyone knows of a decent specialist in the Portsmouth area then please let me know. My previous two cars were BMW's and I had a good local specialist that I used for them and would be good to find someone similar for my C.
  9. Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the Classic, Deluxe and Executive mats that JustMatz do? Would anyone even consider the Classic ones or are they ok?
  10. I got a price for a set of mats from the dealer week before last and think they were about £57 ish. Will probably order some tomorrow as mine are quite tatty.
  11. My last car was a BMW 3 series coupe but unfortunately only a 318is - but it did have 140bhp (a bit more than my 2L Corrado). The majority of the cars I've had have been rear-wheel drive, but the C is definately more fun to drive than my 3 series was but then my BMW was an auto
  12. Red Corrado behind me heading down the Eastern Road into Portsmouth about 4:50pm yesterday. Lady driver, can't remember much about the car apart from it had the older style bonnet with the recess in. Also, the day I bought my Corrado - Saturday 9th October, almost home with her, late morning ish, was just heading down Fawcett Road in Southsea, and passed a chap in a darkish Corrado coming up the road to the roundabout, we both waved.
  13. I bought my Corrado just over 2 weeks ago and busy ordering bits and pieces as I go along. I hear lots of talk about things being discontinued for the Corrado and wondered if anyone has a list of what is now discontinued. Would be useful to know what bits I should consider getting asap from any old stock that might be hanging around.

    Roof strips

I bought some week before last, as was quite concerned that they would let water into the car, but when I then came to fit them realised that they wouldn't. You're right they are not cheap, I think they were about £47 each. They do tidy the roof up quite a bit and glad I got them now if you're saying they are discontinued.
  15. Maybe I'll just ask the dealers to do it when my car's in again on Wednesday.
  16. Great, thanks. I'll give it a go later.
  17. Maybe I'll just have to put it down to experience and see if I can get another one on eBay. Just a bit miffed that the description of the steering wheel was: 'Slighty worn, but still in good condition', no mention that it had been 'scalped'! It looked ok in the picture, you could see it had some wear but not to the extent of it's real condition.
  18. When you say 'lifted' what way did you lift it, up or down?
  19. Just looking at the pic of the side of my car, you can see the sunlight bringing the nice colour through! But I do agree it can look a bit dull if it's overcast and grim!
  20. Sorry to re-open this old topic, but I'm really struggling to get my handbrake grip off. I've tried the pressing the little pin thing so hard that my thumb hurts - but the grip still won't slide off!! Any further suggestions? I've tried poking it with a screwdriver as well but still no joy.
  21. Thanks. I can't say that green would have been my first choice, but I think this green can look really nice in the right light.
  22. Gave my C a good clean at the weekend and got the proper digital camera out - instead of using camera in phone. The light seems to really make a difference to the way the colour shows on my C's bodywork.
  23. I bought a used VR6 leather steering wheel off ebay last week to replace my 'plastic' one but unfortunately upon receiving it, it looks like it's been 'scalped' down the right-hand side! It seems to have lost the top surface of the leather. I've applied loads of leather conditioner to it and it is looking much better but still not right. Does anyone know what else I can do? Do I need to somehow have it re-surfaced? Does anyone know anywhere that offers this and how much I'd be looking at? Prior to bidding on the wheel, I checked the price of a new leather steering wheel from the dealers and it was £366!! So even if it costs a bit to get mine resurfaced it will probably be worth it.
  24. Just had a look at the JustMatz site and they certainly seem worth taking a further look. Who out there has mats from them? I'd be interested to know peoples opinions on the different qualities. Are the classic ones worth going for or would anyone recommend the deluxe or executive ones? If I get some I think they'd look quite good in black with dark green edging to sort of match the colour of my car.
  25. Very pleased to say that I finally had time last night to have a proper look and much to my delight I found that the wiring for my stereo included bullet connectors for the two power lines enabling them to be swapped over. Upon doing this, everything now works as it should do! Great to finally have my stereo functioning properly again. It had been getting quite frustrating having to retune it everytime I started the car.
