OK next question, Supercharged, when you say flat and convex are available, does that mean that either type is available for either side? Or do you mean the passenger side is one type and drivers side another type. Sorry to go on but the mirrors are the one thing about the Corrado that I can't get used to, definately need changing!
-
Is that from the stealership? I'm desparate to change my mirrors for something that actually shows something useful.
-
where can you get generic mirror glass from, and how do you then cut it to shape, ie curved? desperate to change the glass in mine, the magnification and blindspots are awful :-(
-
I've got the same problem, I've just changed my rear bearings today (because I thought the sound was coming from the rear) and it's no better. They were £6.80 + vat each from gsf. I did jack up and spin/check for play in all wheels a while back and found no obvious problem, just thought the rears are cheap and reasonably easy to change so did it. I'm hesitant to do the fronts as once again there is no obvious wear apart from a rumbling sound, the fronts are a bigger job and I'm assuming I'll need to get the suspension all alligned if I take the hub carrier off. What else could it be? Diff bearings? Help!!

Yes, just done mine too, only the dipped headlights so far (not one of Gavs kits), can't believe the difference. The light is so white, has improved the experience somewhat! I keep thinking I've got my lights on high beam. When I do put them up the light is a pathetic orangey glow, to put a second relay in for the high beam is definately my next mod.

Remote start, is there a kit that does this?

Definately. I would cringe at the thought of starting a car up and leaving it too idle from cold, its best to get the engine and oil up to temperature quickly, obviously without working it too hard though.] -
mine's the same as corrastorms, you can have just the rears on or the front and rears together, two separate switches, not one switch with variable positions

Dealer doesn't have yellow temp sensor for VR6...
andy replied to aclwalker's topic in Suppliers Forum
I ordered a yellow one last year and a black one turned up, was identical apart fromn the colour and worked perfectly so you're probably ok this time. I remember phoning a different vw dealer and double checking it was ok because I've virtually no faith in vw parts people. -

ok then but how do I know if its the front or rears, I'm not looking to replace all four wheel bearings (unless I know they need it)

Hi, I'm getting a droning/humming noise from the car, I assumed it was wheel bearings but yesterday I jacked each wheel up and could feel no roughness and no apparant play in the bearing when I rocked the whole wheel side to side. Is this a fair way to check bearing wear? Where do I look now?

What make gearbox mount are you referring to? O.E ?

we know what you drive and what you do!but how old are you??

my new C is humming along! I realise it is the wheel bearings and that I need to change them, question is when they start humming are they about to fail or am I alright for a little while, the only reason I ask is that I'm off on holiday for a few days on Wednesday and likely to cover maybe 500 miles ish, is this foolish? sorry for thread hijack ;-)

Slight Hijack! Are the Mann Oil Filters that GSF sell ok?

How many tyres are any good in icy conditions? I've never found any, once you've lost traction on ice you've had it imo. I've had T1-Ss on my Golf and they were better than anything I've ever had in the wet or dry. My mate has a Celica GT4 and he couldn't rate T1-Ss enough, that's what made me buy some, going down an A road there were two dry stripes on a wet road where the tyres had been. Was thinking of trying T1-Rs when the time comes, admittedly I've never had more expensive tyres and I'm sure there are better than T1-Ss out there but I've found them well above average. I rate them very highly for a competitively priced tyre. Surely TVR etc wouldn't specify a crap tyre on a 3 or 4 hundred bhp rwd sports car, I think not.... ;-)

Cool :-) I'm thinking engine wise the cost of VR6 Golf or Corrado will be pretty near identical. Am hoping that any Mk 2 Golf bits will bring the cost of ownership down slightly. I owned the Golf VR6 for a year and have receipts for £1600, that sure isn't cheap as I always do everything myself and use GSF and the like where possible, fingers crossed....
-
'cheap' and 'corrado' in the same paragraph :?: ...you really are new to C ownership  Just to clarify ;-) I'm not after a 'cheap' solution, was just concerned I had one already on the car when I bought it! Was hoping someone would say, no something's wrong, the C mirrors are really good, you must have a replacement glass or something. Oh well.. ;-) Hopefully the C will be no more expensive than the golf, I'm certainly no stranger to the costs of keeping one of them on the road...
-
Linus, cheers mate. I've got one of the blindspot mirrors that you describe, just wondered if I had a cheap replacement glass or something. Did VW really send a car like the C out with sh*te mirrors? I'm so glad I took it very easy for the first week because I really was generally surprised to find vehicles alongside when joining A roads and M-ways that I had no idea were there. You can completely miss a lorry.....scary, I guess I'll get used to it though. They really are the worst mirrors I've ever had...on any car.

Hi, Had my first Corrado two weeks now, really enjoying it, came from a Golf VR6, my only complaint with the car is the mirrors. The drivers side mirror has a humungous blindspot. Is this normal and can I do anything about it? It's got one of those stick on blindspot mirror jobs at the mo but not really happy with it. The golf had a line in the mirror where the magnification changed and visibility was v good, its spoiling the experience :-(
