  1. Under the sunroof switch panel (in the headlining), remove the light panel and there are a couple of screws holding the panel on, motor is then obvious.
  2. Check the motor connections, if it has 3 wires I think it means its an early one, like the one I have for sale! ;-)
  3. They certainly are built like tanks, its nice to know, could do with airbags imo, I had a Golf VR6 before the Rado and although it was this same year it had twin airbags, vs the Rados none. Makes you think.
  4. Did the Polo fare better or worse damage wise?
  5. My mate has a 306-GTi-6, which is basically a rallye without the luxuries removed. Its a very good match for my VR6, mine has the edge on power and torque, but his has 6 speeds and slightly better handling. Of course mine sounds much better though!
  6. Cheers bud, thats what I needed to know, one early Sunroof for sale then!
  7. The actual sunroof mechanism looks very similar, the problem is that on a later sunroof where the motor attaches there is an indentation that the motor sits in. If you try to fit a later motor to an early sunroof, you dont have the indentation and it fouls the mechanism, I've considered filing the motor casing etc but even then I'll have wiring issues, going from 3 wire to six wire etc. I've said all this assuming that the new roof I have IS an early one, if anyone can confirm that the early ones were three wire I would be grateful.
  8. If yours is definately late and works perfectly I'll have a bid :-)
  9. Your welcome to it for what I paid for it, I see you're from Huddersfield, would you beleive it if I said my new one came from Huddersfield! (I'm in Portsmouth so its quite well travelled!) It still has a motor and the colour-coded roof panel. PM me if interested mate.
  10. I've just received a sunroof from a seller on Egay. It was advertised as later type, yet it has a different looking motor (with only three wires instead of six) and therefore a different connector, also a new style motor won't fit to the bought sunroof chassis. Is the three wire type an early roof? etc etc? Might have a sunroof for sale soon!
  11. Cheers everybody, sorted now, I have a 4Motion one it would seem. Supercharged, shouldn't that be V6 4Motion, not V5?
  12. Looks like I have the wrong part then! Mine has a guide rail as part of the tensioner pad, ie there is a perpendicular strip along the length of the pad which doubles as a guide. Can anyone confirm that the correct tensioner pad has a comletely flat surface like the original fit pad? Will try to get photos up later. Cheers all.
  13. I'm in the middle of replacing my chains and have hit a snag I've bought the new style mk4 polymer tensioner pad but when I fit it to its spindle the tensioner pad sits too far off the block, ie only half the pad area overlaps the chain. Do I need therfore a different spindle for this style pad? The part I have used is 066109509A, does this seem right?
  14. Idle stabilisation valve, clean it, lube it and check the surrounding pipes for blockages etc, do a search on here, loads of info.
  15. I have two at that height, not ideal mind!

    VR6 Coil Pack

I have had mine off and on in 20 mins easily. Its only 4 bolts, 6 leads and a connector.
  17. Toyos have rim protectors too! I've got T1-Rs and am very happy with them, excellent wet and dry grip, wearing slower than the previous T1-Ss. Cheap @ £49 delivered.
  18. As far as I know they are not the same front/rear. The fronts are thin flat rotors and the rears are a smaller diameter "cage" like thing.
  19. So true, THE worst feature of the car in my opinion. I have never ever come across car mirrors with such huge Juggernaut Swallowing blindspots. Dangerous me thinks.

    exhausts

I had a Scorpion exhaust on my Golf VR6 and that popped and crackled on the overrun a treat, especially when hot. Prefer the standard VAG exhaust now though....smooth as.
  21. The ribbed belt I got from gsf the other day was Bosch anyway, they don't come any better imo.
  22. I've had a Golf one and a Corrado one that tilts but doesn't slide. I have seen other peoples bills for a thousand pounds plus to sort one out, I think these are mainly from garages that don't want the job. I've swapped two now, can do it in a morning now. Haven't tried repairing one though...
  23. He still worked there last year when I took my Golf there.
  24. Supermarket fuels are fine, I always run my VR6 on Sainsburys super (97 RON) its higher octane than standard unleaded and massively cheaper than the likes of Optimax.
