  1. Deadlocks? Does the C have them. If so does locking the car with the alarm (central locking) activate the deadlocks or do you have to use the good old keys?
  2. No apparent damage so they must be good or i may have been a muppet and mis-understood the alarm diagnostic. I think they triggered the alarm with the loop intended to pull up the door pin. The alarm is a Cobra 7928, the car is still here so it must be good!
  3. How easy is it to remove the door pins. I have not yet attempted this as i don't want to damage them. They may then just screw driver the door lock or near to i.e. peel the rubber back and get into the door cavity - ideas?
  4. Got a crime ref no so i should be covered. There's also a plod who walks his dog who noticed it so i have a decent witness. What i think happended is they took the plates off and then tried to start the car and then put bogus plates on to avoid being picked up as a nicked car. They spent some time taking them off as they screws weren't ripped out. The holes accepted the new plate screws with no hassles. I love my car, i spent a whole year saving up and sourcing the right one. Its almost fully loaded with electric heated recaros, onl;y 84K miles, the electronic slip diff/traction control that doesn't really do anything, but wo cares - its got it! Its even got the stupid headlight washers, but who cares - it got it My point is the insurance money i would receive would not allow me to purchase another. Every one knows that to get a good one you need to pay over the odds.
  5. Avoid Clifford - to many gagets and it all goes wrong! Had a top dogs Clifford system fitted to my Saxo (i was young you know!) and it kept going off for no reason - turned out the welds inside the box of tricks were faulty and bits had just bloody come loose - total crap. Clifford = dodgy Christmas tree lights that never work! The alarm was removed under warranty and had a standard cat 1 toad fitted - no problems there. Avoid all micro wave based alarms - they triggered far to easily When i got my C i went to CATS FOR CARS in FARNHAM SURREY and had a Laserline fitted. Now i don't know whether it was the installer or the alarm system but basically the imobiliser kept cutting in whilst driving along. This caused petrol leaks, destroyed the G40 sensor oh and they broke the heater controls. Their after sale service is the worst! I cannot stress that enough AVOID 'CATS FOR CARS' IN FARNHAM SURREY They could not fix the problem and i basically didin't want them to touch my car again. I then opted for a local one man band who fitted a Cobra system - have had no probs with after two years! so i recommend Cobra The one man band is now mobile around Surrey and Hampshire - Richard trading as AUTOELECTRICK - 07841163760
  6. Reported the theft to the police that morining so don't worry there guys! Which is the best of the steering wheel locks? I know that the bastards can beat them all but which one holds them up the most? - Aldershot and Farnham Cheers guys
  7. Evening all, On Thursday morning i discovered both my number plates had been nicked from my C. The alarm had also been triggered. The alarm diagnostic stated that the car had been attempted to be started!!!!!!!!!!! What a bunch of BASTARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Leave my f###### C alone!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to spend £30 quid at halfords for new number plates. What is more worrying is there are no tell tale marks on the bastards entering the car apart from a light smear mark on the rubber at the top left hand corner of the drivers window. I recently applied some rubber restorer which left the mark. I have a good cat1 alarm installed - what else can i do? They may come back! Why take the number plates? I am a sitting duck! Advice please fellow C onwers!!
  8. So i'm not the only one! Want to join the clangy Miltek Club 'smarkham'? Got to be a secret quiet club though as there seem to be a few people who supply and fit them on this forum :salute:
  9. Thank you for all of the helpful replies - i'm opting for the Supersprint system. Apologies to those who took offense to my original title - i have since changed this. I can only go my first hand experience. On further reading it is clearly stated that the level of quality has gone down so what can i say. Do you write letters of complaint to Max Power/Fast car etc in uproar of their reporting? This topic was started so i could gain knowledge of what better alternatives there are, not to recieve complaints.
  10. Hi all - had a standard Miltek system installed on my car couple months ago when the original VW one rusted away and boy did i waste my money. Since installing it i have had two different parties fiddle and alter etc (no welding) and i'm still pissed off!!!!!!!!!!!!! I must have spent an additional £200 easy. The banging on the bumper has now stopped but the grinding/clanging/resonating noise on the rear axel is still there. Their web site brags on about all there customers saying 'oh the best thing about miltek is the fit fit fit' I'm not shouting fit fit fit! I'm going to sell it on ebay soon and buy a new one. So which one - i want top quality, no hassle fit and no loud kevy nova noise. The C is a quality piece of kit so it deserves it. I saw a nice C recently with a nice s/s pipe which looked standard, is that the Supersprint type - Advice appreciated
  11. OK, i'll give the cam cover gasket a go and keep you posted cheers
  12. My car is a 94/95 VR6. I have noticed that i have needed to top the oil up more regularly than before. Last weekend i topped up the oil and have only driven it a few times and its gone from the full to the half mark I have just changed spark plugs and the threads of the front three spark plugs were coated in oil. The back three were dry as a bone. The cars only covered 83K but being 10+ years old it must be a gasket but which one and whats it called? Anyone had a similar find who can share their knowledge? Is it an expensive job etc. cost of gasket and labour etc?
  13. Had what seemed to be a problem related to the idle valve so bought a new one. They cost over £100!!!!!!! If you want it to last buy new and from VW dealers. I haggled with them and they gave me a 20% discount. I'm not saying all VW dealers are that generous.....
  14. Hey Pablo, was it easy to install? Where the instructions sent with the kit good enough to show where and how to relocate the carbon can or is it just because you are lazy? Is it worth buying? And did you buy it direct from Carbonio? There is that enough to send you to sleep!
  15. Carbonio or Turn 2? Who knows - probably the same except Turn 2 offers relocation of the carbon can. I don't think the carbonio does? Relocation of the carbon can in my mind is the best approach i.e don't cut things off that were designed to be there!?
  16. Hi and thanks to your replies! I could order one direct but they won't answer my question based emails. I don't know what the shipping costs are for one, and there's a strange air pump attachment. What the hell is the air pump thingy? Also what importance is the charcoal filter to the running of the motor? Can it be removed like the guy on ebay selling his one suggested or is he just crazy?
  17. Hello all, Does any one know if there are any importers of the mentioned kit from the USA as boys Green Bay Packers and New York Giants don't want to sell me theres' direct! I really want to get my hand on one - if you don't know what i'm talking about check it out on there website http://www.turn2usa.com The product is specifically for the VR6 The kit extends the performance air filter into the carbon filters cavity. The carbon filter is repositioned. If know one knows of any stockists is there a similar product on the market? Cheers chaps
  18. Is the car moving yet? Have you got any video clips or sound for us all to lust over? :)
  19. Its good to know i'm not the only one - not the temp. sensor and all codes check out a ok! Strange, i guess the newer pumps are crapper than the origional one. Thats all i can now think of. Hey Joe - Is the variable manifold worth getting? Is there any real noticable difference?
  20. Ok guys - thanks for the advice - AMD computer has brought up no fault codes and there is no fuel smell when hot etc. only when starting from cold which is common i understand. I doubt its leaky injectors as the car has only just done 80K so i will try the coolant temperature sensor like you have both suggested and keep you posted - thanks again
  21. Here's the storey fellow VR6 lovers: fuel pump died, new one installed, since then starting has been poor compared to before origional pump died. Used to be instant. Takes a few turns to fire up, in the summer in the heat it was painfully poor - crank crank crank 10 secs and then fire. I had it into VW dealer from where the new pump came, replacement pump fitted again under warranty, also modification pipe fitted to top part assembly. Since then it has been better but the ambient temperature has been lower. Went to AMD and Nathan the VR6 specialist said all was fine - fuel pressure ok etc The bastard thing reasonably started ok. Do i just live with this shite problem HELP!!!!!!!! :(
  22. I had a similar temporary leak a year ago - it was leaking from cold, rushed to my mechaic but failed to do so again. I had just had a faulty alarm installed by a CATS for Cars in Farnham -BASTARDS- the imobiliser cut in whilst driving along which screwed uo my car up end - UNDERSTATEMENT- Have you had a new alarm fitted recently? DO NOT TOUCH CATS FOR CARS IN FARNHAM WITH A BARGE POLE!!!!!!
