  1. All depends on your budget! Generally i would recommend coilovers due to the level of flexibility you get from them with regards to height. there's no point in going budget though - buy cheap = buy twice. Weitec are a good starting point, I have them on my 8v daily. KW V1's are also worth a look, although more expensive. I have them on my G60. MK5 wheels are gonna look pretty good - there was a recent pic on here, however they will ride terribly! I really wouldn't bother with 18" wheels. Again, as mentioned above, look into suspension bushes etc at the same time, there no point doing half a job. It's prob worth you trying to get along to the next Bristol Meet, which will be 2nd Feb at Avonmeads.. I'd bring my 8v down if you were going. Hope that helps, there will be lots more questions im sure! Baz
  2. Hello bud, welcome to the forum.. Theres a few of us from bristol & surrounding area so you're not alone! Whereabouts are you based? What sort of work do you need doing? Baz
  3. ill have a pair of late handles in a couple of days, lock barrels missing but fully operational..
  4. if you dont need more than 2 seats buy an escort van.. if you do buy an escort estate.
  5. Well the exciting news is i've heard back! I wasn't going to bother with a reply, but it would be unfair on this thread not to..
  6. Ah well, just found a very cheap A3 on gumtree. Sent an email to find out more and got this response: I've just replied.. Do you think I'll hear anything back?
  7. watch your mouth, and yeah there mine watch your mouth?! You really don't do yourself any favours badboy.. :camp:
  8. You're absolutely right. I'm not too bothered about colour now if the wings are clean. Have had two hopefuls, but both failed. 1st: I paid for an almost complete front end from a car being broken, but it was based miles away so I booked a hotel to stay overnight before coming home. The whole car ended up being sold, so I had the money I paid refunded, but was still out of pocket £40 for the hotel. 2nd: I drove all the way to London for a pair of wings that were supposed to be in good condition, however when I got there they were scratched, dented and starting to rust! Needless to say I didn't buy them, so ended up wasting 5 hours and being £45 petrol money out of pocket. If I'd put the money wasted towards respraying a local set they'd be on the car by now.
  9. nightmare! Thats gotta earn you loads of garage time!
  10. their a one off.. were custom made by the guy doing the carbon rear spoilers, but he cant mass produce them. :(
  11. I would advise sticking with what you have for a while to get used to the routine of cleaning etc before going bigger. I've kept tropical fish in a 60L tank for a few years now, using a large external filter as changing filters every week was getting expensive and time consuming! My tank is currently fairly neglected, although the fish are still thriving due to the large filter. My water levels are perfect and I generally only have to top up rather than replace water between monthly filter changes. My favourite fish by far is my Golden Nugget Plec.. He doesn't come out very often, but when he does it makes the cost worthwhile! My other favourites are 2 Rams, 3 Corydora julii and a very well behaved male Siamese Fighter.. don't believe everything you here about them, if their one per tank they can be fine. From experience major shops such as Pets at Home are terrible for fish.. displays are badly kept, lots of dead fish in the tanks and white spot on fish for sale! I'd avoid and find a decent standalone supplier or one within a garden centre. I use Maidenhead Aquatics in Bristol, but they have stores all over. I'm doing a filter change tomorrow so will try to get some pics.. Unlikely to see 'Nuggins' though!
  12. the e36 318is is pretty rubbish, e30 is a winner if you can find one though! 2nd Abdul on the prelude.. hard to find a 2.2 manual though. Try gumtree, usually turns up a few decent cars for me under a grand.. always worth a look.
  13. updated! Just wings to go from the urgent list.. the 8v is really getting there now!
  14. sorry to put you off! i've basically done a very similar thing with the wheels going on mine and although you end up with something fresh it is a chore! cheers for looking through! i read it myself the other night and it really made me want to get the car finished. it's just been hard the past couple of years justifying spending money on it since buying a house. all the best with the keskins! Baz
  15. hmm.. gonna struggle then unless he's prepared to do 5x100 conversion. They'll look awesome, I can tell you that without a photoshop! It's a fair amount of work & cost though, wheels, widetrack conversion, tyres, adaptors, refurbishing the wheels all adds up to over a grand..
  16. Phil has the complete set of bump strips so these have een paid for, thanks walesy for the offer though! Just after wings and roof rail end section now from my must have list!
  17. if you're running 5x100 you could fit these with adaptors & rolled arches easily. would want 205/40s on it though so budget for tyres..
  18. pretty much the same as above, check et and centre bore. 98mm will fit with wobble bolts..
  19. 5 taps for me too.. always set to oil temp, the others dont tell me anything i dont already know!
  20. read this again. it says everything i was going to. for remaps i'd be tempted to look at dg autotech.. their fully custom map is upgradable along the way and looks to be producing good results.
  21. ive got kw1s on my g60 and weitec on my 8v.. weitecs are softer, handling on the g60 is awesome and its much lower. would def try new bushes first though.
  22. Its especially the passenger side that i could do with, i have seen the pair on ebay, but the passenger side is dented and rusty, so id be no better off than with what i have.. good spot though! 8)
  23. Mate that would be awesome. I'll let you know when I hear back from phil.. Cheers Baz
  24. only any use if i can find someone with the odd bit! would be greatful if you can check for me though please! cheers baz
  25. All still required, I really need the bump strips!
