  1. hmm.. i think the grey would be a great colour, but understand about keeping it original. didnt realise darren was rolling on the fat fives again, although should have guessed now lewis is running rotiforms!
  2. yeah poor thing!.. not really gonna update this again until the cars back on the road properly.. spent a lot in 2010 getting it ready for next year. still have a fair bit to do, but on the home straight to getting it back out again. have an 8v daily to keep me going, but bought a 1.8t a3 quattro yesterday to replace that for a while. update around ultimate dubs this year would be nice, but im not rushing! Furkz - book time off for MIVW, you might get to drive the G60 if we're lucky!

http://www.screwfix.com/prods/72438/Sealants-Adhesives/Tapes/Insulating-Sealing-Tape/Flashing-Tape-225mm-x-10m Perhaps not what you'd be after if you want to do things 'properly' but I used flashing tape on most of mine. The low cost of it compared to Dynamat means you can cover a large surface area for a relatively small cost. Perhaps use this on the floors and roof and Dynamat on the doors?
  10. Thats odd........ she sent me one? (sorry, couldn't help myself) at least she didnt drop it round!
  11. i hated it, i hated the ccgb one, the one from work and the one from my mum. i hate all christmas cards and christmas itself. this is not true, i haven't had one from any of the above. merry christmas and a prosperous new year to DG!
  12. Ah man, i cant believe you let them take the car. They'll give you a minimum payment and you wont see it again without paying a fortune.
  13. They cant refuse letting you keep hold of the car. there have been stories of people having there cars left at salvage for assesment and parts taken from them before settlement is made.. you could get your car back with bits missing! cars will be generally written off if repair value exceeds 60% of market value. £600 repair bill on a £1000 car. Find cars advertised similar to yours and email printouts to your insco.. this will determine true market value. Glasses guide price now for any corrado will be under £500 so not of any relevance to true market value. if they offer you a cash settlement you're happy with and the chance to buy the car back, find out the price. if you dont want it, you'd be able to sell it on. I'm the other end of but would still buy it at a profit to you. they cant refuse you a courtesy car because of your refusal to let it go to them for assessment if you have one as part of your policy. You'll be fine for getting to work, just putting miles on someone elses car - bonus! I refused a vauxhall as a courtesy car when mine was damaged, said i'll only accept another VW as like for like.. I got a brand new passat registered for me! Hold out, await a better offer and then hold out again. Do not let them convince you you're driving an old sh!tter. Post anything they come back with here straight away and get feedback.. you're not on your own.
  14. dont let them take the car away until they have offered you a settlement figure.. its still your car, if they want to inspect it, they can send someone round.
  15. pretty sure the standard ones were speedlines?
  16. that is a crap pic.. look like standard integrale wheels to me..
  17. I'm sitting on the fence a bit on this one.. Earlier in the year I bought a cheap G60, tidied it up, swapped a few choice parts over to my main G60 and sold it on, making a small profit. A couple of months ago I bought a poorly 8v and am in the process of tidying that up and will sell it early next year, hopefully also making a small profit on it. Whilst dealing with both cars, I became very aware that I could break them, making a fair amount from doing so. I haven't not done so in any kind of moral obligation to the cars, but rather because I've enjoyed the process of tidying them up. These cars are worth a great deal as parts.. Selling individual bits at reasonable prices would make a very good return if you bought a non runner, whilst also keeping other cars on the road. Breaking is by no means a quick buck, there's a lot of effort required and I do feel a decent profit is deserved. Next year I am highly likely to buy at least one car with the intention of breaking, as I will be in a position to do so. My intentions are reasonable prices, quick updates and delivery and a forum donation based on total profit. What I won't be doing is selling parts at at least double their true value, aware of the fact there's nowhere else to turn. I wonder what the income tax implications are of breaking 5 cars at the same time?
  18. that looks terrible! there must be a better solution out there?
  19. where abouts are you ??? I'm in Bristol, south west. I can travel if the price is right though..
