  1. Well the heater blower problem has been fixed, but the heater itself isn't blowing hot air.. that's now being investigated. I fitted a new [old] headunit today, making the best of some poor wiring. I'll go back over it all soon & fit new speakers & an amp, as the current one's aren't great. I had to collect some wheels from Staines today for the G60 & took the 8v with me.. My first long drive in it - A 200 mile round trip. She's an absolute gem! drives really nicely, S/Steel exhaust not loud at all, steering precise etc.. and less than half a tank of fuel! I could get used to that! Interior plastics also got a clean last night, but it was too dark for hoovering. Not long till some pics will be up, I promise!
  2. Hmm.. turns out the fan now works, but the heater doesn't! Just went for a 200 mile drive and came back frozen! I have no heat coming through the vents at all and the cars water temp showed at minimum for the whole journey. Fluid level is fine, matrix pipes both warm, as are all others. Carpets are dry, so I'm not thinking there is a matrix fault. Using the search it seems my 'flaps' might not be opening, but that wouldn't explain water temp being minimum.. It was between 1&3 degrees outside during the journey, but i'd have thought it still would have moved. Possibly thermostat not opening? Any advice appreciated! Cheers Baz
  3. once again thanks for all your help, ill get the parts ordered on friday then do a write up when its all done. :) get yourself some braided goodridge hoses and do a fluid change at the same time whilst you're at it..
  4. Cheers - G60 will be played with over the winter and should come out again for Ultimate Dubs. I've got a lot going on work wise at the moment though that needs a lot of time and financial investment, so there is every chance it won't be done by then.. I'd love to get it back on the road properly, but I won't rush now. Having the Daily to play with is definitely helping to keep me interested though! The heater problem has been fixed. The problem was a leaking foliage seal allowing water to trickle into the fan unit. The foliage seal was replaced and is now watertight. The fan unit has also been replaced and is now functioning correctly. Next job is a 'proper' clean inside and out. It had a wash the other day, but the paint needs some loving. After that I'm heading up north to collect some replacement body panels and starting to think about fitting stereo equipment..
  5. I found the problem! their was a dodgy connection to one side of the resistor.. I've fitted a new connector and the fan now works. It's now working on setting 1, but works fine on 2,3, & 4 so that'll do me for the winter!
  6. Depending what you want to spend and what wheels you want to fit.. Option 1: G60 280mm fronts/MK4 Rears Option 2: Audi S2 280mm Twin pot fronts/MK4 Rears Option 3: Ibiza Cupra 305mm Brembos/280mm Rears All have been covered numerous times, use the search to find out more.
  7. So i've replaced the foliage seal, nice and quick job with no issues.. however I bought a replacement fan & resistor and its still not working. It could be that the replacement also needs the fuse replacing but im reluctant to do this in case it still doesnt work and i need to take it back. Any possible other causes?
  8. I've never heard anything bad about JMR, but considering i go on more holidays per year with Darren then i do with my wife it would be a bit odd not to use and highly recommend Gwerks!
  9. I told you it was fiddly!
  10. Sounds about right for ignition switch.. there are loads of threads on it if you use the search, also a wiki guide on replacing it. http://wiki.the-corrado.net/ignition_switch_replacement.html Just one fiddly screw to contend with, the rest of the job is really easy. I ended up getting to the screw from the passenger side, was much easier than going underneath.
  11. So you're planning on stripping the car for performance but not changing to lightweight wheels?
  12. A search brought this up - could be useful for someone else searching in the future!
  13. Nope, fan doesn't come on at all. I've already bought a fuse and soldering iron today from maplin but don't think thats gonna do the trick now. Locating a resistor is gonna be the hard bit I reckon..
  14. Nice one.. Any idea if i'm gonna struggle finding a resistor? Will need to order foliage seal from TPS tomorrow anyway so will give them a go.
  15. Looks like I may have my answer! Will be looking out for a replacement then!
  16. I've got 2 issues with my 8v daily.. 1. Wet carpets passenger side. 2. Heater fan not working at all. First port of call was to change the thermal fuse. I've taken apart the fan housing and it's very wet all around the seal. this confirms my thoughts that the foliage seal needs replacing so should solve problem 1. However, I've taken the fan out to change the fuse and the fan doesn't spin at all. It will turn if moved by hand but feels very stiff, is this normal? If so I'll crack on with doing the fuse, otherwise I guess I'm looking for a replacement fan.. any idea of the cost?
  17. The seats are very wide at the base.. I'd see if you could trial fit a pass side in place as Im not sure it would sit right. Custom subframe is gonna be a pain too, but okay if you're handy with a welder
  18. once youve established if you have a leak or not get yourself a couple of these: http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.jsp?action=detail&fh_secondid=9415180&fh_reftheme=promo_159792088%2cseeall%2c%2f%2fcatalog01%2fen_GB%2fcategories%3C{9372013}%2fcategories%3C{9372033}%2fcategories%3C{9502022}&fh_view_size=10&fh_location=%2f%2fcatalog01%2fen_GB%2fcategories%3C{9372013}%2fcategories%3C{9372033}%2fcategories%3C{9502022}%2fspecificationsProductType%3dtreatments&fh_eds=%C3%9F&fh_refview=lister&ts=1289778072450&isSearch=false they're excellent for drawing water, just make sure they dont tip up - leave at home if you're driving the car - as the waterery stuff left will never come up if it spills. Can be worth driving with heaters on full faced to floor whilst driving, window slightly open for a couple of long journeys too. Also, before parking up, drive the last bit home with windows open, heater on cold to decrease air temp in car.. this will freeze your nuts off but help the screen to be clear in the mornings.
  19. The passenger side wishbone has been replaced and luckily nothing else was needed to fix this. We thought at the time it may need a driveshaft as it had unattached from the box, however it went back with no issues. I drove the car later that day and there was an intermittent metal clanging noise which seemed to be the drivers side driveshaft. On closer inspection, it turned out the balance weight was loose and running up and down the shaft so that was the cause of the noise. This has now been removed. We also discovered that the car was urgently in need of front brake pads so these have been fitted. The broken indicator has also been replaced, so my next job is to repair/replace the heater controls.
  20. Mine feels stable at 150.. You have an issue.
  21. I followed a grey g60 in Yeovil a few months back.. Dual carrageway on the outskirts heading towards the travelodge. I was in a blue g60, sound familiar?
  22. Yeh heard on the radio not so long ago about one guy having his account cancelled, can't remember if he was fined or not though, I imagine he was... he was indeed.. nearly went down for it! http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/UK-News/eBay-Paul-Barrett-Becomes-The-First-Person-In-UK-To-be-Prosecuted-For-Bidding-Against-Himself/Article/201007115659858?lpos=UK_News_News_Your_Way_Region_8
