VR6 versus 944 Turbo - (or Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo??)
vr6storm replied to monVR6's topic in General Car Chat
awesome motor extremely fast!!!.............just seems to have a poor image IMHO one motor I've always fancied chopping my C for was/is the Escort Cosworth, also the Alfa GTV floats my boat too -
I would buy new everytime............especially as they are now round the £50 mark the only thing to do is keep taking it out when you park up
-
welcome to the joys of Corrado ownership...............I'm on my 2nd headlight switch in 7yrs of ownership........i had the joy of replacing it first within 1 month of ownership when the switch cost a whopping £80+!!!!!! and yes it does get a tad hot when you take it out after it being on
-
if you have a 70L fuel tank do the math from near empty(say a couple of Litres left) then its only going to go just above half with the way petrol costs these days

VR6 versus 944 Turbo - (or Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo??)
vr6storm replied to monVR6's topic in General Car Chat
yip I did indeed own a 944 Turbo the 220bhp one not the best example..........had a few issues that cost me big notes comparing it with my Corrado...........I'd take the C everytime as it a good allrounder with 90% of the performance of the 944 and is a lot cheaper to maintain, however the 944 especially the 250bhp version can be made to produce over 300bhp relatively easily -
*cough* 5.4 V8 *cough*
-
Ive done it with my 993,the agreement with the PO was to save time that I would put his number on retention in my name(with him paying) and once it had gone on retention would name him as a nominee so that it would go back to him.........FYI too though its always been £105 to put on retention even since 1995(when I put a number on retention)
-
FWIW the retention fee is £105..............its £80 to transfer...........the £105 fee is made up of Transfer to another car ie £80 AND £25 for a years retention and no matter how out of order it is,by the guy going back on his word.............legally once you've signed that car over, plate and all it becomes his

IIRC the guage sensor is around the £40 mark(tho could be wrong there) and fits into the thermostat under the housing colour wise its either Aqua Blue or Moonlight Blue going by the avatar you have..........tho Moonlight normally gets mistaken for black
-
more than likely you will be needing the temp guage sensor............there are two of them btw.......one for the ECU and one for the instruments.........the water temp guage should show 90-100 degrees normally ps your MFA only goes up in even increments so its impossible for you to see 95 degrees on it :D pps.............and unless your C has been colour-changed it won't be Mystic Blue(unless of course its a Storm)

Deals on Wheels Corrado feature......not the usual one!!

on SKY ch 523(Discovery Turbo) pretty sure I've never seen this one before................its not the one that has a Storm at the start and then features a Blue paintwork and black leather Recarro'd up K-plater......... -
its one of the fuses...........happened to mine about 3 years ago
-
rear wiper doesnt turn off + dash temp guage.....
vr6storm replied to lee_golf_v5's topic in Exterior
you need to push it again to stop it.............it just takes a while to suss out the timing of when to push it otherwise you will end up on a constant cycle of switching it on or until you switch the engine off -
AARGH VR6 dumped all its coolant this morning!!!
vr6storm replied to diggerbucket's topic in Engine Bay
the oil cooler is basically between the engine and the oil filter..........whats also quite near there too is the Thermostat housing...chances are its this........if its the stat its fairly common as they get brittle with age -
given the miles it might be doubtful that the car you are buying wil have all its 190 horses still left.........although it all depends on its history etc...........so doubtfull if you'll get 200bhp prior to getting a chip
-
NGK's are meant to be able to withstand the temp the VR gets up to better
-
my Storm when I bought it with 38k miles 7 years ago from a Lexus main dealer was just over £10k..........
-
i know its TV-land and all that but the chances of the Met having an Ur-Quattro when they first came out would have been slim to nothing........the Ur was £20k+ in the early 80's
-
alfa GTV V6,Cougar V6,CLK V6.................there's plenty other V6 coupes for the same or less
-
and its a pity its a post 82 RHD UR thats featured as I take it its meant to be set in 1981 and from memory it wasn't until late 81 before RHD was available as the first ones were all LHD's.........FFS can the BBC researchers not get their facts right
-
read the owners manual chris.............VW state that oil consumption of 1L/per 1000km's is acceptable IIRC
-
do a search  Dusty Mauve paint is unique to the campaign Corrado-wise

They Really Are Just Taking The P!$$ Now!
vr6storm replied to Sonicriot13's topic in General Car Chat
its just a 2 door RR-S tho..........its the marketing people that have hyped it up as a "coupe" same way as the E36 2door was called a coupe yet the previous E30 2door wasn't.........besides people buying these won't be comparing it with similar priced "coupes" such as the Porsche Cayman S/Nissan 350Z etc,and afterall the original Rangie was only available as a 2dr for the first 10+ years of its life.........it just wasn't called a coupe
