well i was half-right "West Hollywood, California— Jaguar's XK convertible and coupe are getting old, but a ground-up renewal of the six-year-old car is about as likely as a tennis match between Dubya and Saddam. Most of Jaguar's research and development allotment went to the new 2004 XJ sedan, so for the foreseeable future, the XK has to make do with a day at the local gym rather than a week at the Golden Door spa. But the XK already was accustomed to making the most of something old (a derivative of the ancient XJS platform), something new (the AJ-V8 engine), something borrowed . . . you get the picture. For 2003, changes focus decidedly on the new. The V-8, which is mated to a new ZF six-speed automatic transmission, grows from 4.0 to 4.2 liters, resulting in more horsepower and torque for both the normally aspirated XK8 (294 horsepower, 303 pound-feet) and the supercharged XKR (390 horsepower, 399 pound-feet). Manually shifting the traditional J-gate now provides readily identifiable detents rather than the feeling that you're pushing a wooden spoon through a vat of mashed potatoes. Jaguar claims 0-to-60-mph times of 6.3 and 5.3 seconds, respectively, for the XK8 and XKR convertibles." full story here btw http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews/0212_Jaguar_XK/ hope that helps

of course there's always the older shape 500SL  .........i'm pretty sure the XK is a XJ-S with a new party frock so the chassis dynamics will be older than the just replaced SL.......i would rather go german tbh than british i'm afraid to say
-
think dinkus needs to get busy and put this in the "How to guide" asap.......good work too btw daveh
-
hmmmm sounds a bit dodgy to me
-
they kinda look nice but aint they still basically a XJ-S underneath chassis-wise?......so a 30 yo design?
-
nice looking original VR there 8)
-
so what was the figure Star-Inverness then  :?:
-
.............not a great idea tho Henny....................those two would argue who would or wouldn't "bite the pillow" :D :D :D :D
-
for a poor to average job. depends where you're located too.............the local Porsche-approved bodyshop re-sprayed a Corrado for just over £2k...............hardly a poor to average job either

uneven acceleration in 1st and 2nd gear, kangarooing motion
vr6storm replied to Jay_vr6's topic in Engine Bay
NGK plugs are also meant to be able to withstand the heat generated by the VR6 better than others  -
you'll find that the 1.8 16v's are only "struggling" to sell because most people are either after a G60,VR6 or a late Corrado..............and .tbh i wouldn't call asking for well under £2k as over inflated/silly prices........fair enough if they are dogs but most appear not to be
-
£1500 is reasonable for a MOT'd, below average miles and tidy C 1.8 16v..................ok you are only wanting to spend £1k......which is probably why you are still looking for one  ...........i seem to remember you selling a mk2 GTI 16v and wanting more than £1500.........much as the mk2 is a nice car i personally would value a Corrado as being worth more(bar G60 ltd/Rallye/and GTI G60 )
-
the indicators are early ones.........and by the looks of them so are the foggers
-
thanks  anyway you should have some serious gains with that little lot........so keep us posted on how you get on
-
i understood that bit............but why quote a previous reply(of mine) to this thread ??? cos you certainly haven't proved me wrong if thats what you are insinuating
-
hmmmmm you'll prove me right more like  you should start giving schricks away , that'll show the mods  yip i'd eat humble pie then  ............somehow tho........i can't see it  After talking to schrick and stealthracing the prices are not much different.. To be honest its a whole lot easier to buy from stealthracing... So Ive gone a head and booked the car in for the 13 December 2004 for schrick cams268 and schrick manifold £1200 manifold £500 cams + fitting + remap = £2900 so about £1200 for a remap+fitting. No mention of value springs............ you been hitting the red again :D ????............cos i don't really understand what you are trying to say here?
-
i think you were both giving as good as you got tbh................so why don't you both just call a truce and shake hands....so to speak  as i said before ignore his youth/lack of life experience and take note of his informed opinion(s) of the TT
-
sorry but although you have experience in years i would imagine Nelson has more experience with dealing day-to-day with problematic Audi's and i'm sure if there are things to watch out for he's the one that is likely to know better (even factoring in his relatively young years of "life" experience)......so give him a break.........he's only trying to save you from possible heartache and expense
-
wake up at the back there Mr Elder :-P :D :D :D :D
-
a bit off yer budget but.........if its as good as in these pics might be worth spending the extra http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17037
-
he certainly did
-
doubtful you'll even get a "luke-warm" saxo or corsa insured for under £2k in you're own name let alone a "performance" car like a Corrado 16v for under £2.5k.......best thing to do is build up your NCD in something a bit more insurance friendly.thengo for the Corrado a year or two down the line.....avoid going the "named-driver"route too.......as it just makes it dearer in the long run
-
old skool must mean crap then....as i seem to remember weller wheels being sold in "clubby" books along with Tomaz(sp?) scooters :-P
