Thanks Steve, the little end bearings are actually lubricated from an oilway through the centre of the conrod, which is fed by the oilways in the crankshaft. I don't think the jets are intended for specifically lubricating the small ends, although more oil can only help.
-
Thanks Dom, yea I noticed that Mk1 when I did a search, which is good considering it's putting out shed loads more power than my valver will. The evidence is mounting but i'd just like to get some more before I resign the little buggers to the bin :)

I'm building up my rebored KR block at the moment to 2.0, using standard 9A pistons and crank, unfortunately though i've run into a slight problem that the piston oil spray jets catch the con-rods. I know that a few companies offer a 2 litre conversion based on a KR block so it must be doable, so does anyone know how to overcome this oil jet problem?. The obvious solution would be to just remove them, but i'm not sure how critical they are and i'm concerned that it may cause a general loss in oil pressure througout the block and or engine seizure or something equally as nasty? If anyone's got any suggestions i'm all ears :)

Thanks David! i'll go and get them back off the chap then.

Can anyone from experience tell me if new front wheel bearings should have a little bit of slop in them? The chap at the place that fitted them reckons that once the driveshaft nuts are tightened up it will pull them tight...is he right or talking pants? Cheers, Andy

Yep, they are essentially BBS wheels, I think that ASA license the design from BBS or something.
-
I've have a white C and for some reason I think that they're more difficult to find wheels that suit than for darker coloured C's. My choice would be to go for a slightly dished black/dark grey wheel with a polished rim.

Hope this helps mate Assuming that your rack's not worn, new tie rods just screw into the end.

storm81, I'd be interested in a bit of discount if you wouldn't mind getting hold of the bushes for me 8)
-
Yep, i'd deffo be up for a group buy. I'm gonna need a whole new set of bushes once I get my subframe and other bits back from the powdercoaters...hopefully next week.

Cool, thanks for that. I was thinking along the same lines as the cam operated one too, seems a bit less mickey mouse than the red handled one...probably a bonus when doing brakes!
-
I'm intending on replacing all my brake lines and just wondered if anyone from experience could recommend a decent quality brake flaring tool? Ta.

 - Yeah, perhaps I should have read the instructions before I used it...

I saw 2 last Friday morning on the A1237 around York, pretty sure one was PhatVR6, and then another one on my way home at about midday.

I used some stuff by Carplan called Tetrosyl, much cheaper than gunk and really does make your car whiter than white!

I used to have an E36 318is before I sold it  and apart from it being underpowered and over tyred it was brilliant...and no irritating squeaks either :D

mrbeige, yep I was experimenting with the 'rikshaw concept' as a backup plan incase I run out of money...hmm I wonder if the lawnmower would fit in there :)
-
I have a white C and the colour has really grown on me, but I think wheels need to be chosen extra carefully, black or anthracite suit really well IMO. Also, after dropping the subframe earlier today I reckon that I may have found the perfect way to keep my C on the road whilst rebuilding it!

I found this page a while back, has most of the useful engine dimensions...good bedtime reading. http://not2fast.wryday.com/vw/stuff/vw_engines.shtml Not2Fast: VAG Engine Component Dimensions

Funnily enough I came across this yesterday on the CCGB website...pdf instructions and everything 8) http://www.corradoclub.org/tectips.html

Just happened to have a picture before I took it to bits...

I have a 1990 valver on a H-plate, no sunroof, manual windows (ohh the effort!), but I do have an adjustable steering column...VW must have started with them on H's I reckon. Anyway, my position is 1up from the bottom.

Ok then, sounds like good 'ol K-Jet wins the day again!. I'm quite surprised though as I expected a newer system to perform better, perhaps it's like comparing records to CD's...

Have a looksie on these sites, theres some really good information for the more cynically minded drivers amongst us :) http://www.speedlimit.org.uk/ http://www.abd.org.uk/

I'm tempted by the chewing gum idea, but I think the liquid metal sounds like a good plan and most importantly not very expensive :D. I got a quote from a company who weld cast iron and they wanted £200 plus vat! ...strangely enough I shan't be using them!
