[:start2p:] Just because a mod is possible doesn't mean that it's a good mod. There's no doubting the skill employed on the bodywork but on the other hand the design/look of the car just doesn't work. Grafting the bulbous headlights from a MkIV onto the angular front of the Corrado was always going to look bloody odd. I don't think I want to talk about the scoops over the rear arches... The modified rear wing was interesting, but the photos really didn't do it a lot of justice cos they were so dark you couldn't make the detail out. I think the real shame of this is that this is a N-reg car which pre-mods had a fair bit of value in it. Now it's probably worth fuck all to most enthusiasts. John

I was actually looking to buy an Impreza when I tried the Corrado out for a test drive, so if the Corrado didn't exist then I would get an Impreza I think (N-plate shape, no big wings) However I notice that R32 Skylines are now a lot cheaper than they were 4 years ago, and in all honesty that is my "affordable" dream car. If the lottery comes up however I will turn up at my next meet in an AMG SL55

There's a guy called Jay in London who has wide Azev A's on his classic green Storm. They're 9" wide, but I don't think that affects the fitment at the front re caliper clearance etc. So - they can be made to fit, it's just a question of how John

Jason Plato (Touring car race driver) used to own one when he was coming up through the ranks. Said how good it was when he owned it on 5th Gear once.

I still have some Club stand spaces available at Edition38 (Billing Aquadrome, Northampton) next weekend. There are still slots available for both days, but there is more space on the Saturday. This is the last show of the 2003 season, and was a corker last year. The show is well attended by some of the Dutch, Belgian & German clubs, and is probably the best opportunity to see the best European show VW's in the UK this year - far more so than Inters in fact. If you would like to reserve a spot on the Club stand, please drop me an email at mailto:[email protected] letting me know which day(s) you want to attend. (Don't worry if you have already contected me about this show as I have your names!) I'll contact everyone next week with more details. Alternatively you can call me on 07977 501128 tonight or over the weekend if you have any questions. More show details at http:\\http://www.edition38.com Cheers John

At this point you will just have to bear with us while the new site is put together. Andi has very graciously agreed to hand over all the stuff he had in development, but at this point it's hard to say what will/won't be used. That will be for the new webmaster to decide of course ) John

My five minutes of fame have arrived! Check put p37 of October's VW Driver magazine for a shot of my car in action at the Castle Combe trackday in July. There's also a picture of Alan's 1.8T Corrado waiting to go out on P34. By the way I'm hoping that once the Club website is up again we'll be able to make the infamous "hot dog" video available for download, as well as some of the in car footage which we took out on the track. The Club website is going to return soon - watch this space! John

Hi Jacob Have checked my java settings and it is enabled. Would suggest that it might be best to drop the "county" dropdown as you already have country available - that might fix it. Otherwise can you add "Dorset" to the metadata? Cheers John
-
I must be daft or something. Go through the register process, but the field "county" is blank and can't select/type anything in it. Site will not register unless "county" is entered though How did you guys get around this and register?

Trax photo gallery at http://uk.photos.yahoo.com/bc/johnmunyard Make sure young children & people with heart conditions stay away as there are some frighteningly badly modified cars in among the pictures! John
-
Maddub, Was yours the red car with the Kompressor badge that went out on on track? If so, what times were you doing there, and what time's were you doing at Castle Combe in July? John

I know for a fact that Chris Gaskell will NOT be bringing his VAG-COM to Gaydon (it was he who was providing this at Woburn)
-
Well you could always just increase the coilovers "a bit". You don't need to wind them up much to get a significant change in the compliance. You could also unwind the dampers a lot - that helps a helluva lot (but then you know all this dontcha?)
-
Daz, You guys also need to have a look at Jay's new seats (as well as the TT dash) - very special indeed. John

Golf & Corrado are chalk & cheese handling wise. You'll find the Corrado is a big move forward from a MkIII if you haven't driven one before. The VR6 makes the Golf really nose heavy in my experience, but this problem does not affect the Corrado. It's a much more balanced drive. Suggets you really do need to try one out though. Bear in mind that a standard Corrado VR6 will not be the huge leap handling wise over you own car, as the coilovers will have helped the handling a lot, but compared to a standard Golf VR6... it's not really even a debate I think HTH, John

Were those only 22s? I thought they were 24s! Nice spinners though. I have heard people on the show scene saying the California look could be the next big thing on the VW show scene. I did take a lot of pictures at Trax (over 200), but havn't put them up on the net yet - will let you know when I do. Most of them are absolute howlers! John
-
Darren, We are all coming up again from the South Coast. Be there by about 7:15pm depending on the traffic. John
-
There was a group of 4 Corrados together near the front of the public car park, and to be honest I'm pretty pleased that's where we were! Jeez there were so many minging cars in there... I don't think I would want to park in such close proximity to all that bling bling man Liked the twin engined Nova (0-60 in 2.8s!) and the Jag XJ12 on 22 inch chrome wheels though

Hi everyone, Can I kindly remind everyone that anyone who is not a member of the Corrado Club will not be allowed entry to the Club EGM meeting which is being held inside the Gaydon building. John

The Corrado Club is running a club stand at the Edition38 show at Billing Aquadrome (Northampton) on Sept 27-28. This was a cracking little show last year and features many of the best European (& British) show cars. I understand that Cult Society are making a significant appearance at this years show for example. The event is split across two days, with different competiton events on each day. On Saturday, the attending clubs enter a team show n shine competition which is judged on a group of 4 cars judged together. So what we need are the best 4 best show cars we can find from our group to enter into the competition. On Saturday night there is a party / disco and there is inexpensive camping space available at Billing for those people who want to stay overnight. On Sunday there is a concours competition, which is for individuals entering their own cars so if you want to seek individual glory then you need to be there on that day. If you are a Corrado Club member & want to put your car on the Club stand for either / both days can you please drop me an email direct at mailto:[email protected] and let me know as soon as possible, quoting your membership number. Slots will go quickly an will be allotted on a first come, first served basis. If there are too many offers I will run a reserve list as usual. If you are coming on the Saturday, please let me know if you want to have your car considered for the Club show n shine competition. If there more than 4 people interested in the Club competition then we will probably have to make the team selection on the day of the show from the cars that attend, as using any other criteria would probably be unfair. If you have any queries about the show, please also drop me a line at the email address above. Cheers John Munyard (Corrado Club West Regional Host)

Identifying members of the forum at the CCGB Day?
corozin replied to Rams's topic in General Car Chat
Hi everyone, I'm pleased to hear that a lot of you guys are wanting to attend the National Day, but I need to make a couple of quick points so that there are no problems on the day. The event is a CCGB event, organised and paid for by the CCGB. Whilst all Corrado enthusiasts (not just club members) are welcome to attend the show, the event has been organised by and for the Club for it's members, and so attendees who are not club members will not be able to enjoy all the facilities that the CCGB members will. I must make it clear that if you are not a CCGB member: a) You will have to pay to get into the Woburn estate. b) You will not be able to use the Club parking area (you will have to use the public car park) c) You will not be able to enter either the Show n Shine or Concours events d) You will not be able to obtain the discounted entry to the Abbey (should you wish to visit it) Both the Woburn estate staff and the Club marshalls will be checking membership cards on the day and will enforce the above. None of this in intended as a "stab" at forum members who are not members of the CCGB, but the Club has invested a lot of time and effort arranging this event. More importantly, a substantial amount of the Club's money has been used to make it all happen, and therefore it will be unfair on the club members if non-members can just turn up and use the same event facilities for free. Of course this event will be an excellent opportunity for any non members to join the Club at the show, but we will not be able to refund your entry fees if you join on the day. If anyone has any questions about the event then please drop me a line offlist at mailto:[email protected] and I will try to answer you as quickly as possible Cheers John (CCGB National Day Event Organiser) -
Possibly Roddy... unfortuately Karl had a fire at his house in Leven five weeks ago (fortunately they were all ok) and that means that my plans for a visit this summer visit have been canned for this year. Christmas remains, however a very likely probability indeed, as there is no better place to spend new year than north o' the border. I will let you know and we can get together in Stirling for another big meet (ya gotta get Sandy out at least once a year eh, lol) As for forgetting No-Rice - you must be joking! there were allegedly 280 cars there last month!!! John

Mate you ain't been looking about! There are over 25 CCGB members in Bournemouth alone, and at least another 6-8 guys (not including you!) who I know are owners and are not in the club! Not all of them are active mind, but we do get together a couple of times a year out at the Smugglers Inn in Ferndown for a beer and a laugh - we had about 18 cars at the last one but have had as many as 23! I am an auld gitte (36) but Roddy will tell you I have the mind of a small child sometimes (especially when Subarus are involved). My car is fairly well known on the scene and around Bournemouth as I've had it for 4 years now and it has an M*** VRG numberplate on it. It's lowered around 50mm all round and wears 8x17 Mim wheels (a bit similar to your Kahns). A picture of the car, taken at the Castle Combe trackday two weeks ago, is in my sig. I'm pretty certain the debadged burgundy VR6 you mention belongs to my mate Phil and he's just changed the wheels this week. He's coming with us to No-Rice next week. Unfortunately I've already made arrangements to meet people en-route at Ferndown, Winchester Services & Fleet so we can either meet up at No-Rice or if you want to tie in with us instead then that would be fine. We'll be leaving at around 6pm so we don't have to race up there. Anyway let me know what you wanna do - can email offlist me at mailto:[email protected] if you want to . Cheers John
-
So how many folks from the Bournemouth area are actually on here? I've noticed Bournemouth_James & Rams on here (how come our paths havn't crossed yet guys?) and there was me thinking I knew most of the owners around here! Anyway a bunch of us are going up in convoy to No-Rice in Guildford next Wednesday (provided it's dry!)... maybe 5/6 cars... if anyone wants to hook up for the event then we're gonna be leaving around 6pm Cheers John

CORRADO CLUB NATIONAL DAY SUNDAY AUGUST 24, 2003 WOBURN ABBEY, BEDFORDSHIRE The Corrado Club is proud to announce it’s 2003 National event, to be held at Woburn Abbey on Sunday August 24th. Your Club has earned an excellent reputation over the years for the friendliness and knowledge of it’s members.
