Thanks for the offer Chris, but I should be ok now with these other spacers. Kdub so as a rule of thumb for anyone anything less than 1.5mm is running a risk of fouling depending on temps, cornering and bearing movement? Fraser
-
Thanks James, they will be going on it tomorrow. Kdub, I already went to halfords first thing today and purchased a set of 3mm spacers. I'll run them for the wheel alignment on Monday and get a set of 18mm spacers made up for after that. Tbh I never even thought about the heat from the brakes causing issues! I'm glad you pointed it out though as its reinforced my decision to buy the spacers. Fraser
-
They don't touch but you would struggle to get a piece of cloth between the caliper and the spoke. Which is fine but if a bearing had to go it would be disasterous. I'll probably get a set made to space them out a bit more. Yeah they a tarox brakes, going to need new pads soon though. Which is on my list of things to buy this week.

So the LMs arrived today as did my wheel spacers. I ordered 15mm spacers that will turn the et back down to 33. The wheels will be getting tyres tomorrow but I thought I would trial fit a wheel tonight to see if they clear my brakes. They do.........Just!! I think I will need to get a slightly larger set of spacers. thoughts please.

That's my car Swiftkid. Nick (nep) fitted that before I bought it and I must say it's great but looks like a lot of effort and glue. Fraser

Coatbridge, classic green Storm. We should arrange a meet. Years ago when I had my first two there was Corrado meets a few time per year in Scotland. Fraser

Yeah it's certainly lengthy. I had read bits of it before. Ordered 15mm spacers last night, I'll see how they go and adjust from there. Can anyone recommend decent tyres? Fraser

Are you running et35 all round? I've ordered them from rare wheels in Hungary. They had a set for sale previously that were 57.1 so I'm hoping these are the same. I'm going to have a nosey at your gallery now.

Do you have any arch rubbing issues Sean? The problem I have is the car is booked in a week tomorrow to get the wheel alignment done and get corner weighed. The wheels should arrive by Wednesday which doesn't leave me much time to get spacers sorted and the wheels mounted. It's a set of LM090 ive got coming, but I have just read conflicting information regarding the centre bore. Which now worries me. All the sets I've seen for sale are 57.1 but I also have read on VW vortex that they are 56.

Ok, I'm just trying to work out if I'll be sizing the spacers to clear the coilovers or the brakes Fraser
-
Does anyone know if 7.5x17s et48 will fit a VR on coilovers or will I need spacers? I should add that I plan on running 205/40s. Fraser

Thanks for the offer. But I put a deposite down on some LMs that are being refurbished. I will buy 301s at some point but going to run the LMs this year. Fraser
-
I have decided against the 301 look and have ordered a set of LMs from Rare Wheels Hungary. It's taken me weeks and weeks to decide what to go for. Still send over the specs though. I noticed a nice set of 302s on another forum that had been redrilled 5x100 but don't really fancy redrilled wheels. Fraser

Mk3 sunroof and other sunroof repair observations
KARMANN replied to andrewchapple's topic in Exterior
All sorted, I removed the motor that then let me adjust both sides to be in alignment with each other. All good now. Fraser -
Thanks Bill but James has moved his on. I went to see him in November and he had sold them a few weeks earlier. I'm almost the point of buying LMs but want to make sure there's no RSs available before I do. The current CHs won't allow me a large enough tyre without rubbing issues. Fraser
-
As above, preferably already refurbished. Fraser

Hi Roger, I'll take one silver and one red please. Fraser -
Fitted mine today-brilliant. Really happy thank you. Fraser

Ok. Perfect, my loom has changed so the colours aren't exactly the same. But look close enough. Thank you.

On the new loom where do the yellow, grey and white wires plug in to? Do they plug into the old headligh connectors from the existing loom? Fraser

Mk3 sunroof and other sunroof repair observations
KARMANN replied to andrewchapple's topic in Exterior
It's still in the car, I have however been messing around with it at times with the motor out. If the mechanism is in the car and I remove the motor can I then line both sides up or do I need to remove the whole unit from the car. I'd rather not remove the whole unit. Fraser -
Mk3 sunroof and other sunroof repair observations
KARMANN replied to andrewchapple's topic in Exterior
Now looking to get this sunroof working again. I have the headlining out and the lid out. I have managed to purchase a new slider. I've fitted it but when manually winding it back I noticed that both sides are not going back at the same time, one is about an inch ahead. How do I get them to be set equally? Regards Fraser -
Corrado display @ 2016 VW festival
KARMANN replied to VAG-hag's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
VAG-hag, is that cars or wives? One I might be persuaded to swap the other, I think not . I won't say which though. I Youtube'd the event, certainly looks good! I think we might camp on the Friday and get a B&B on the Saturday as we will be heading home on the Sunday I think. Fraser
