Used to love the inters at TRL. Went sat and was very disapointed mainly with the lack of atmos, whole thing just felt cold to me. Nice to see Mr Haywire though (great car!) and i think henny was parked 2 rows behind me in the grey C with borbets?? Was actually walking up to say hi when you drove off to leave! Got some nice mats & VAG hts for £45, Latter kinda paid for the day. Can't beleive I took friday off to polish the car after good weather reports, only to find on arrival it looked like it had done the paris-dakar! Also could'nt buy an vr ht tool anywhere, asked a couple of stands and one had one but would'nt lend it to me!! I even offered a deposit but they just said no!! Won't say which one, but that did it for me, never again. I will defo join you all at this other event though, everyone says its good.

Wanted to fit bonnet lifters to my baby, but a couple of stands at gti all said due to the way the raddo bonnet opens im wasting my time. They had stocked them but got so many complaints they stopped selling them. Anyone had any success with these? :? and, if i can sneak this one on the same thread!.... Can you get proper moulded mud flaps to fit a corrado? And yes, i know they look about as cool as your gran in hot pants.

Hav'nt fitted new wheels have you, wierd question i know. I had the same thing, but had just fitted 17s. Wheel weights flew off on my way back from the inters so i put the old speedlines back on the front today for the run to work. holy smoke did it feel quicker again! I think its the slight over size rolling radius, plus the extra wheel weight for inertia. Still feel like getting my cam sensor/s checked though. Allways nice to plug her in and see if anything comes up. Nobody round my way with vag com though, boo hoo.

Aerial stolen - UPDATED with pics of suspect Corrado
NickVR6 replied to CorradoWannabe's topic in General Car Chat
I think your right to be somewhat miffed, does'nt matter how insignificant the item. Every red blooded male should know that you NEVER MESS WITH ANOTHER MANS WHEELS, you just don't, EVER! As for being doored like i was yesturday, they should be hung by their ging gangs................Was there CCTV in the car park??????? -
My thoughts exactly!! Think me pumps def on its way south, still a slight flat spot mid to hi 3ks, and it missed once on the way home tonight. First thing i'll buy at the inters will be a new set of perf ht's. Anyone recomend a good make? And i'd rather they were under £150! Are you going this year Dr Mat ?
-
Got my email ban removed at work now (trial period!) so i can reply during the day again. Took it back thismorning and it turned out to be a naff plug lead and they had managed to rip the silcone exposing the core aswell! Its running better now, but the pump is still very loud. Oh, and they said you never change the fuel filter on vr engines, its not in the schedule!?
-
Own steam or AA - I'll be there!
-
Shall i bother taking it back to the garage tommorrow or limp up to the inters for you to take a gander then? Only reason i ask is because its a 180 mile trip for me and i wouldnt want it to pack up completely? Wont run lean will it?! Dont think i could ask you guys to fit a pump for me, very generous but it would prob spoil your day!
-
Wow, what a star! Can't ask for more than that can you! Just noticed the pump sound louder, very winey, hope thats not another £100 coinsidence! and it is missing after 3800 all the way now. Pump pitch is going up and down. Wonder if its anything they could have done today?
-
Look like i've joined you with this prob! I'll let you know what comes of my prob tommorrow buddy. You checked the ht's/plugs etc?
-
thats what i thought, but why is at at specific revs everytime. and it runs on fin from 4000-5500 etc and its fine before 3500!? surpose it could be at a certain vibration on a loose ht? ive checked them all on the coil pack but dont have a tool to push them into the head.
-
Not another problem! Fixed my water leaks (thanks to you guys), thought i'd treat the car to a full service and then i can give it some 1/4 mileage at the inters. Picked it up, felt smoother at low revs and idled better. Waited for her to warm up, tickled it a little and as soon as it got to 3800 it grumbled and then picked up again. Its quite a lumpy big hesitation, not as savage as a cut out but very noticeable! Like its missing on a couple of cylinders Drove it for an hour and it it happens around the same revs in ever gear every time. obviously more savage in lower gears. It has never missed a beat until the service today!! What have they done or not plugged back in. Im worried they've ragged it or something! Any ideas or will i have to go back and hurt someone tommorrow! :(

Will they have a stand at gti as imgoing on sat?
-
Cheers Benji. Holy bottle jacks, that E30 valance looks great, is that a silican based bumper protector?

Anyone point in the right dirction to buy a Mocal oil cooler? The credit card is so massive now i dont care, im just going to buy one as i think it will pay for itself long term! Is the mocal a specific kit for the VR/easy to fit? How much? Where can i buy one? Any other makes do kits? Any chance of getting together for a group buy as everyone allways seems to be chewing their nails over vr temps or is it just me? Cheers guys Nick

thermostat housing and high oil temps- related??
NickVR6 replied to matt_corradovr6's topic in Engine Bay
Hi, spect you've read my cooling issues! For info i had a golf vr for 2 yrs, on 120k with original everything! It rarely got over 102 at 80 and water never budged from 90, EVER! Stat went but gauges all shot through the roof in seconds so nocked it off and coasted, replaced and back to normal. Other half has had a vento vr for 4 years. It never budges from 90 on the water temp either, and you just cant get the oil over 102 doing anything, even caning the jublies off it in the summer (hope shes not reading this!). My corrado vr runs at 106 at 50 not touching the throttle, and 110/114 at 80/85mph. Water temp varies from 90 to 100, and seems to bare no relationship to how its being driven or at what speed. Oil allways drops to 102 idling though. Dont think i will ever be happy with this after the golf and vento. I think the mocal is the way forward. ANY CHANCE OF A GROUP BUY ON THESE FROM SOMEONE??????? This seems to be one hot topic (pardon the pun!) -
Water prob cont--are the garage right or talking.......s!

Nice one guys. Just used to my old golf VR, so the temps on the raddo are a bit of a shock. Water temp and oil temp dont seem to tie together from what im used to. Might do the top rad hose incase that small pipe to the head is part block aswell just to be sure, but think im happy now. I cant leave stuff alone anwyay so ill prob end up replacing bits continuously! Your stars! Either of you at gti international next weekend then? Like i said beer on me if you are! My new 17s are knocking my teeth out! might go back to the 15s for the drive to gti! :D -

Work done in the end was: Stat and stat housing, and temp sender on the rad as both areas were leaking. I admit this was all done by my garage! But header was still leaking and pipe was pumping air and boiling. I replaced the pipe the other night and it solved everything!! No more header tank leak (yes its still the original) but its bone dry now after 150 miles of all sorts of driving hoooooooorah and a BIG thank you guys. It runs at about 92 on the water gauge now (was 90 before all this started but then the stat me have been old and minutely stuck open maybe?) Either way i assume 90-95 is normal, rising to near 100 then fan comes in and it drops again in traffic. Oil temp is 104/106 at 60 and 108/110 ish at 80 or giving it some B roadage it may touch 112. This all sound normal? Oil temp seems totally related to revs, as in traffic although the water builds the oil cools to around 100/102. Hard to see much of a squirt into the header from the small pipe, but i think i would know if the main pump was shot hey!? Think i will fit an oil cooler next, as the other half has a vento vr which runs at 90 water but never over 100 on the oil but much less restricted airflow on those so makes sense. -

2cc, what can I say apart from i'm a complete muppet and you lot are are life savers! No more noisey bubbling pipe, no more header tank problems. Only just replied as i wanted to really give it a couple of runs but its 100%. yes those clips on the 2 pipes where actually facing each other and the clips were overlapping, but i got there in the end.I can listen to that fantastic noise again between 4&5k that make those hairs on the back of your kneck stand on end! Thanks for humouring my moans, you really are stars, can't thank you enough. If your at the inters on the sat let me know and i'll buy you a beer/lunch. Cheers guys, spec 2cc & the dr. I'll be grinning like an idiot driving to work tommorrow!! -

RIGHT! Its done and i've topped the water up through the top rad hose as suggested. The main pipe looked fine except the small pipe that t's off was totally blocked at that restrictor bit, so im hoping that was the problem! Off for a test drive and further top up i guess. although I seem to have lost the use of my knees! Beers on me if this works! -

Storm, i wont take it the wrong way. They have been fantastic in the past and done me loads of favours. But this is starting to wind me up now. I can see where they are coming from, as we have checked most things now and i dont think they think it is the head gasket. But i am loosing patience yes. Thanks Rpmayne, will be asking tommorrow, guess it will give me peice of mind or make me very upset! Fitting that new hose right now anyway though, got it from stealers today for £37, thanks to 2cc for part no as they didnt have a clue! cant beleive they had one!! -
Thought i'd let you see the idiot that keeps banging on about water leaks and the beast in question. That was me at about 2 in the morning checking hoses. No thats not my natural colour, it was the result of loosing a bet. Wheels fitted yesturday to cheer me up on the water probs, got have priorities hey (12 inch ground clearance will have benefits im sure!)
