Hav'nt read the whole of this thread, so it may have been mentioned, but MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THE FILLER PIPE!!!!!!!! I bought one and that had rotted, crapping up everything. Infact I scrapped it in the end dispite it being very tidy, it ruined the carb, tank, fuel pump.............and couldnt get another pipe for less than £150!!!!!!!! Great car though i thought, 1.8 is very torque and it handled very nicely. They are great value compared to mk2 gtis, but not so well rust proofed.

Thanks guys and sorry for the delayed reaction!! I take on the domed point, but i think thats only on 15/16" versions, 17s kinda stretch the centre flat! and thanks for the pm replies to tyre worries kev. wheels are on their way, pictures will follow....OH YES!

Just been offered a set of brand new Ronal R7's from a German chap. Seems very reputable on ebayage. He wants £249, which seems very good as Ronal are a good brand arn't they? They dont make these anymore, but they look like they'd rock on my raddo, anybody seen them tried before or have an opinion?? They are 8x17 and i have stnd suspension so looking at the other thread they should fit ok, no idea on tyres though, spose im looking at something slightly wider than the 7x17 stnd choice 205/40, maybe 225 40? My wallets twitching  so please give me a thumbs up or down on these babies!! ?????

Did my brakes at the weekend, discs/pads bearings the whole shabang, so now im going to melt my credit card on some replacements for my peeling speedlines. I think i'm going to max at £500, so im looking at second hand TTs (comps prob out of reach), voodoo 2s brand new with tyres but I think a slight dish looks better on the raddo and they are both a bit flat? Can anyone recommend anything or should i jsut shut up and wait until ive got more cash to throw at them. Anyone got any picks as its taking me hours to look through as im on dial up.............................1.2k a second dial up, think they are trying to convert me to broadband, wrong approach !

Cheers again. God i prefer reading this at work with pictures turned off (to cut my usage bill!). Get home and look on here and see how small my wheels are, how high my car rides and nobody else has stone chips!! Think i'll ditch the induction and go panel. Get the rest of the car renewed to original spec then start playing more!

Couple of people have been very helpful in confirming that my new VR maybe running hot, but just to confirm can any of you let me know what yours runs at at 70-80 on a run ?? Mine hovers around 112-114 which is a whole lot more than any other mfa'd dubs i've run Its all constant, never goes over 114, just seems hi or is it norm!? Ive already drilled the flock out of the 3 bar blocked up grill (nice design Mr VW! ).

I have just fitted a green air induction kit to my VR, with a number of problems! The metal bracket needed serious bending to fit as it was far too short, meaning the ecu bit on the side of the plastic pipe now hits a sensor type thing on the suspensions turret. Plus, its sounds fantastic being new to a vr but a huge resonance goes through the whole car at around 5000 thats makes my fillings pick up radio channels. Have a K&N on back order, are they much better? Or can anyone reckommend a decent set up please?????????? Many thanks Nick 1994 MB VR

Drilled & Groved disks from Volksbits vs G & S Bremb
NickVR6 replied to NickVR6's topic in Drivetrain
Thanks so much guys, i think i know where im going now. Are the fronts alan bolts like mk2's? If so i have never managed to undo any of those, so may pass to my spanner man! Might give it a bash though as money is tight having just got the beastie. -
Drilled & Groved disks from Volksbits vs G & S Bremb
NickVR6 replied to NickVR6's topic in Drivetrain
Wuw, ABS what!?? Blimmey. Please explain, and sorry for my ignorance ive only had her 2 weeks so im a complete novice!! Why new wheel bearings, they are silent?? Feel free to laugh at me, i am trying to learn as fast as poss!! Thanks very much Nick -
Can anyone recomend some disks. I basically need a complete set of disks and pads front and back. Pads are 1mm thick now and the disks are very stepped and starting to worp. Can get standard replacements from GS fairly cheaply or brembo drilled but i just noticed volksbits are doing drilled and grooved for 69.99 front 49.99 rear, assuming mine on a 94 vr are 280mm!? Basically has anyone any experience of these, are they any good for the low price??????? I dont want them going into the wobble zone after 2 weeks abuse! Many thanks Nick  :)

Cheers Guys, FOOD FOR THOUGHT!! :)

Is anyone producing these yet? Surely they are but i cant find any. Has anyone seen anything other than standard heads on a raddo? Thanks Nick 1994 MB VR

im selling one for about that much now ive found the raddo, too far away for you though! Id say its too much. Its about what im after and mine is mint with a new engine, clutch, dist, alternator, pas pump, battery, 4 tyres, master cylinder, ew window mech, radiator.....the list goes on and all that in the last 3 months!! yes i will be loosing lots of money! but its paying for the vr insurance!!
-
cool, ill find-em. Have some picks i was sent before looking at the C. Will sort some better ones though this weekend if the polish does'nt freeze! It was advertised on here actually. Midnight blue pearl, standard VR 118k, great body work, one door mark alloys "ok" rest is mint, no driver seat wear, well chuffed so far. And, its faster than the wifes vento vr, that the best bit!!

God do i need broadband! Spot on will check out there shop when the page loads!!!! Still want more though, any thoughts on the eyebrows? take they do them for the raddo? What are the wheels on yours? Are they porche, they look a bit like the la castels off mk1 late cabs, but with black detailing??
-
hey, no worries, your both right! Plus im glad someones is replying to my threads tonight! Any advice on the flaps so to speak?
-
Wise words, brakes are important. Anyone know of any decent upgrade combos? G&S drilled zimmers? I've done those on all my other dubs. You've just made me miss my mk1 even more! I hate to mention it, but do vw do mud flaps for the raddo??
-
OK, we know your cars, where did your names come from???
NickVR6 replied to fla's topic in General Car Chat
Mine is just stupid, its my ebay login. got fed up with picking already picked names. Think i'll change it actually to lhasanick, after the colour of my mk1 campaign i still miss dreadfully, arrhhhh. plus its what my wife will put in my tea if i spend any longer on this forum!! -
OK, loving my new beasty, but anyone recommend a must have first mod? Induction kit fitted day one (mine was 100 stock 94 vr). Still paying the other half back 1500 but recon i can skim a 1er - 200 off for mods. I was thinking back box, eye brows or s/wheel. Not over keen on lots of body mods so any suggestions? (alloys will have to wait!) I should do the brake discs as they are hinting at warpage, but hey, that just boring. Thrill me with your knowledge of improving the best yet further........please

I've only just got mine, but i've already noticed that it hunts at 2-3000 on a light throttle and its cut out twice in the week i've been driving it. Only coming up to stop at junctions though. Also been taking the nagging mates out in it one at a time as one has too, and thought mine was really weak on one day. Put it down to air density blah blah blah but it felt like a big drop!? Seems fine today again though. Trying not to think about it until i finish paying for the car though. Electrical probs i hate, rather the engine blew in half, well sort of......

I'd be interested in anything from a full de-cat to back box. All depends on the price! Min back box though for sure cheers buddy

Not trying to buy friends honest. But, ran around in a 1.8gt passat whilst looking for my raddo vr. Now shes landed the passat is going. I put a K&N induction kit on the passat to make it more bearable but have taken it off as thought it might put buyers off. Its only done 1100 miles and i thought i'd do my bit for charity and see if any of you peeps know anyone who wants one free of charge? I had to hack the bracket to fit the passat, but easy to knock up another, other than that its mint. Cant be ass'd to go ebay with it so its yours if you fancy paying a couple £s postage or want to meet somewhere near me. If anyone at the smugglers haunt wants it on sunday i'll bring it along. any takers? also have a few mk2 gti bits knocking about if its worth doing a list, and a twin box standard exhaust for an audi 80 2.8e!?? Main reason for the clear out is a near fatal avalanch of bits falling on my new baby at the weekend in the garage!! The raddo that is not the small creature smelly type! :?:

I bagged a S3 nero with gps, as they were flogging them for £149 on ebuyer. Think they are now even cheaper £120? They have GPs and mine has been bang on especially into london this weekend. If you keep them updated they are priceless. Would recommend the unit for the price and its far less placky than the angel, totally agree with your fisher price desc! and pricey! N

Thanks guys. As for the remote its the same as my wifes 97 vento vr6 and the same as a friends 94 mk3 16v. Has 2 buttons at the top, one resessed the other sticks out very slightly. Its black and all the other i've seen have volkswagon writen in blue accross the top. Mine has 2 extra bits on the remote i hav'nt seen on others........it has a slider which allows the interior sensor to be deactivated to stop it going off all the time and what looks like a white pin port to plug something into it in the side. That help ?? (Black box under bonnet has vag 150 or 180 written on but cant read it all) hav;nt checked inside the car yet though so thanks for that tip. im in a passat gt today so will have to check that one tonight.
