Just chucked my car in for a free vag com as its recently been pulsing ever so slightly at constant throttle opennings. Also a bit lumpy at low revs around the 1500-2k it bogs down, esp when cold. Everything checked out ok, apart from the air temp, i assume this comes from the maf sensor? Anyway, it was reading 237 degree C. What the hey, does this explain my poor running? Could it be to do with my induction kit, think i've read something about oil contamination? Cheers "just one thing after another" Nick

Im set for around 20k in my vr each year i think, but if you want to here something amazing check this! Looking for my raddo a couple of months back i bought a rust free jetta 1.6td for £150 the guy had it from new. This is not a joke but he commuted to germany every week in it, back at the weekend and it had 319,000 miles on. WAIT FOR IT..........head had never been off and it was still on its original turbo. I had every bill from day one including petrol receipts, it was true. and its second clutch at 229,000. It still drove perfectly and used no oil or water in the 2 months/4000 mls i drove it! I had a lhasa green mk1 campaign in 1990 with 69k on, had it 7 yrs and sold it with 288,000 and the only thing i ever replaced was the water pump, and then just oil and plugs. My corrado has used 15 times as many bits as these put together in the first month ive had it...........BUT I LOVE IT !

Thanks guys, some picks would be a help. Especially of the nuclear fusion route, i can think of a few application this may be of use for, such as keeping the bottom of my headlight in the car after breaking off the 3rd bracket yesturday fitting a bulb!

It was a be-hat*h on mine too. i just bent the pipe virtically and brimmed it then stuffed it on as quick as i could! Lost loads but it still did the trick. Made sure i polished all the colant off the paintwork after too!! Not sure what yours looks like though. Im no expert by the way, just letting you no what mine did. I thought something really bad was going on like big blockage or failed pump, and my garage gave up after 3 visits but it really did turn out to be that simple!

Run the car up to warm with pres cap off and see if its pumping through the small hose into the header.

Hi mate, sorry to here of your probs. I had the same on my VR and found my self scratching my head saying wtf. I replaced my stat twice and it ran hotter on the water temp than before hand. I was worried about my oil temp most. Flushed it twice and it ended up being an airlock in the hose that runs to the heater matrix. I replaced the presure cap first no joy, then did the hose, still some probs. but after filling from the top rad hose everythings been hunkuss mcdorey. Try filling it back up from there, no need to drain it again. its messy i know but it worked for me (thanks to Dr Matt's advice). My garage still wont beleive that was causing the problem, but it was!! N

mmm pelvis is nasty, glad yoy got over it though. Makes you think does'nt it. been a passenger in a big one. managed to stick my arm through the front seat (was a mk3 escourt though) as we rammed someone from behind on the motorway. Had warning luckily though, it was wet and my friend had a chance to utter "we're going in" before the crunch, quite funny really.......looking back -

I got in a strop with my other half last night and broke my engine mount whilst performing an i'm not happy i'm going out style traction control test off my drive. -
oh dear, looks like im causing trouble again! Cheers Kev/Matt, will update you later today. Glad it rained at the interes or this would have happened on the 1/4 mile rather than on my drive! Think im going to fit a new fuel pump aswell as its getting really noisey now, i can here the bearing grumbling as well as the wine. Seems everything is going at once on mine! The list is growing of want toos and must doos.............

I was in first, i had reversed onto the drive. I think it broke just as i backed off, all in split seconds but i kind of hesitated. I can see its obviously pressed hard on the foam but it does not appear to have dented the bonnet. Sounds like i have been very very lucky! The drivers side bonnet catch bit was not locked down, so i think that may have saved the day as id been fitting plug leads in lunch hour at work and ob didnt shut it completely! so that could have been worse too!! I am trying to source a vib mount now but struggling to get one delivered for the weekend..
-
If my bonnets dented im getting divorced!
-
Sh*t, didnt even look i was so wound up. Nope, doesnt look like it, but its hard to see as the car is still filthy from the inters, and my pir lights packed up out the front. How much are the vibra mounts then? I thought there was a lot of play in the original, praps why it went, plus the right foot (my mechanical sympathy varies with mood!) Best mail order from stealth i presume??

Cr*p day at work, got home about 2 hours ago to realise I left my garage keys in my desk. Wife went mental cuz she wanted the extension lead to mow the lawn tommorrow or something, was listenning! Slammed the door to return to work and performed a traction control defying i'm not happy off the drive, and heard a sound I can only describe as an expensive feeling clonk! Just been nosing with the torch and i think there is something missing from the engine mount!? Is there a bolt on the top, as I can't see one anymore, and the bracket is not in line with the engine mount? The bracket looks intact, so i presume i have sheerd the head of a bolt that holds the 2 together? Is this common, or am I special? Is it expensive!? fecking day of days!

Sorry Bally, just realised my avatar angle matches yours, except mine is 17 feet higher off the ground! Will change it at the weekend, was'nt copying honest!

Oops, sorry if i moaned to much. I would have enjoyed it regardless of weather if i had met more of you guys i think. i didnt speak to many people on stands, and those i did i must have picked badly, apart from the german guys who were a great laugh. My own fault for not being that out going. Used to be easier when more mates were into the scene. Think i've been a bit harsh. If had met up with some forum members and camped+beer would have made it a diff story. I think they could move the date forward a month though, and i dont mind walking but must have covered 15 miles too and from the car/show/1/4 mile entry etc. Point taken, i just have no friends!

If i were VW i would have put a storm badge on the side if it ment a better shot than that. Good advert for coilovers too!!

I took a few, but it rained so hard i would have ruined my camera! Got some shots of Kevs, the black swb quattro and some nice golfs. plus my mate doing a 6.36 and 14.9 1/4 on digi video if you want me to post any of these? Bit gutted he got that time with a bogo 2.0 16v in a mk2 golf!? Sure mine would have done him but as nobody would lend me an ht tool to cure my missing there was no point running, still cant beleive nobody would lend me one for like 2 mins!! What happened to the friendly VW scene!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
