    Rocking seat

Just to say bought the front guide piece and it feels like a new car! seats now so much more solid. makes the car feel a lot more planted.....and all for a mere £2.35ish. Cheers for the help guys. wish all mods were this cheap and effective!
  4. Fair enough. Didnt realise there was such a difference! Then guess im one of the lucky ones to be able to have such a decent system :thumb right:
  5. add to more confusion, got a milltek fitted and sounds and looks great! fitted by jmr so a top job! heard powerflow are only as good as the branch thats fitting them! be good to ask anyone whose been there and get there opinion! expect most are good! Soz to confuse things. difficult choice hey :brickwall:

    Rocking seat

Just wandering if anyones got a rubber stopper spare for under the seats? i think thats the reason why my seat rocks slightly as on the passenger side there's a whiteish rubber piece on the mounting at the front under the seat and on the drivers there isnt? could just put some odd rubber there but itll probly be bodge and slip off! do vw still do them? cheers
  8. Nice. just did my rear vw one in night blue but im not sure if i like it or not. bit too light! may have to try again sometime. oh well
  9. will do next time :thumb right:
  10. off subject here, being nosey rixy how did you get insured on your storm as im with norwich union, just turned 20 and got a g60 and they only just insured me as apparently you've got to be over 25 for these cars! they let me off as i got a quote from some indian so they had to insure me as i had the quote ref. got 2yrs no claims and pay £1600 fully comp. soz to be nosey just wandering how you got insured as no one else would even let me finish as soon as i said g60, age 19.
  11. i'll have to double check then. see if theres a pipe caught up anywhere. didnt see anything when i looked before tho. like i said woodys got something similar on his so if i dont get a plug down here then ill give you a pm. thanks for the help
  12. yeah i removed it myself but i never touched anywhere near the throttle body. i just blanked off the relevant hoses etc and threw the cc in the boot just in case.
  13. dunno if anyones had the same problem on a g60 engine. was driving the other day when the engine suddenly went bang. fearing the worse i coasted to the missus luckily 100m up the road. the engine sounded really bad like a high pitched screching and grinding. i phoned john at jmr and as usual he was a great help and he guided me over the possible faults. long story short a stopper had blown out of the back of the throttle body so on idle it sounded bad but under some boost air was being blasted out at high pressure creating a whistling effect. i now need to get a stopper from vw as ive had to settle for a bodge job at the mo with a bit of pipe and metal end that gives off a really high pitched faint whistle which sounds a bit poncy! just wandered if anyone else has had this problem or if anyone does get it check this area as i didnt even no there was a vent there! looks like a pipe should have been attached but having looked at woodys he has a small metal like plug. at least it was this as im now a lot happier my c's running again and only for a few pounds  well pleased considering i thought the engine had gone!

    tow bars?

That was my tow bar!! John said it was only held on to the rear beam by bolts! needed no cutting at all and there wasn't any damage to the bumper. said to john he can have it, think he may have already given it away tho! looks so much better with out the bar on 8)
  16. i love the sound of the charger. especially on long journeys as it just humms along. great in town when its enclosed. sound vibrates off all the buildings. the snorkels the tube that lets in the air, sitting directly behind the headlight. if it was in your air box youd notice it as its a big tube just sitting there! mines gone and its a lot better. never seen a 16v set up!
  17. yeh know what you mean bout the insurance....we'll see, probly in time the itch for more power will get scratched no matter what the insurance think :) with the charger its guna be ported so more air can be forced out and its having a full rebuild and blasting so it will be better than new. dont need a chip or pulley for this but that will be the next power mod! it needs rebuilding anyway now, so if i get it ported etc now then ill not need to open the charger again for few years? makes sense hey....then in time can just slip on a pulley etc and chargers sorted :)
  18. fair play, glad its worked out then!!! yeh when you drill the box it does make the charger louder....my mate creases up and says its like a jet! would love to get a pulley but the insurers wont let me :( getting it ported to stage 4 spec instead then maybe a pulley etc in the future
  19. erm....dont know then mate if your air box is completely sealed? the bottom half should have an opening to let in air which is tunnel like in shape? also the cc should sit nearer to the front of the car, when your facing towards the car the cc should be on your left tucked in the corner? theres a hole in the metal work with a large cylindical object with a large tube and a samller tube going into it! also held in place with two screws. and also with the air box, your right that the holes should be on the wing side and bottom. make sure you only drill the bottom part of the air box tho as if you drill the top bit above the filter element the charger will be getting unfiltered air. i just drilled holes on the bottom and wing side. sorry havent got any pics but cant upload them! gives bit more freedom to draw air and makes the charger louder so you can scare small children and old people!
  20. keep the standard air box mate and just drill some holes in the bottom and the right hand side so that it only draws in air from the cooler areas of the engine bay! this with a green or k&n panel filter will be just as good if not better than an induction kit with a heat shield! imo, as your drawing mainly cooler air. also then if you wanted on a vr, relocate the carbon canister and that leaves a big hole for some ducting to get some proper cold air into the engine! heat shields are better than nothing but hot air just goes round the sides! an air box gives a complete seal and only draws in air from the holes youve drilled! many people probably have their own solutions but i think this has to be one of the best, but of course i could be wrong?
  21. hiya mate. the air box on the g should have a tube like funnel that sits in line with the headlight so air passes behind the light and into this tunnel and into the charger. ive just recently had a play with my box! i removed the carbon canister under the box, thats the big circular thing with 2 tubes going into it! as this then leaves a big hole for some tubing. as for the box ive drilled the bottom of mine and the right hand side of it, not the left as then youll be sucking hot air from the engine which is exactly what youll be doing with a cone filter. which is bad as hot air isnt good! the charger works best with cold air and the standard air box provides the best heat shield as with the holes in it, it will only draw in air from the cooler areas where youve drilled! to maximise this get a green or k&n panel filter (£50)and this will be just as good if not better than an induction kit. with your cone your just drawing in hot air and even with a heat shield, this does little as air can simply move round to the sides of the shield! you want as much cool air as poss as its denser there fore you can fit more of it into the charger = more petrol= more power :) im no expert mate but hope that helps a little.
  22. yeh just got a megs clay bar....was really soft and have only had time to do the bonnet...its come up smooth but doesnt feel hardly any smother than the wing which i havent done yet! the spray smells lush tho! what about stuff like turtle wax with a little paint stick thing that "fills in the large chips" just another cheap product or has anyone had any good results?
  23. just another quickie...from whats been said t-cut is a last resort but can you just t-cut the little section where the scratch is? you dont have to do the whole car or panel? think a clay bar is my next purchase along with wax!
