Having driven her when GradeA had her I know she is a well looked after car, but am I right in saying that the car was nearly written off by your insurers last year? This would pray on my mind.

I would love to know how much hot air stays under the bonnet at speeds above 50 mph, I would bet a fair amount that the diference between inside and out is not great enough to make a noticiable difference to power. I have a K&N and love the sound, It has done 40k and no damaged MAF so far.

Mine has been doing this for ages also. I thought it was after my heater matrix went and the car was efectively damp all winter. Father christmas looked on a scrapyard website amnd managed to find one for 30 quid delivered.

It was a big day for Porsche yesterday, with the Volkswagon law(which has stood to protect the company from takeover since 1960) being overturned. Porsche who now own a controling 31% and have agreement in principal for a credit arangement of 131 billion to take over the rest of VWs stock are free to take over the company. Dr Weideking has made his intentions clear stating that he wants to make VW dominant in the USA again and make the entire brand as powerful as Toyota. I am sure that there will be concerns with the future of WV as Porsche are renowned for their hard nosed profit driven approach to business but it can only mean good things for the future of VW. However a sneaky suspicion around the office feels that Lambo may well be broken up into little peices and sold off to competition :lol:

I feel now is the time to step in with my opinion. Ive been watching this thread closely, and Im sorry Kev but you are wrong. Modern 4x4 are not as light and nimble as a 60s landrover but have you tried to drive a landrover for any distance in either normal trafic or on a motorway? They are not the same things and you cant compare them. Also, how about the transiberian Rally, Cayenne absolutly stormed the rally setting a course record for the stages. You just can't say thay Cayenne is not a superior off road machine. It has a fantastic off road system with an aray of gadgets to assist with the demands of an off road obstacles. Having been lucky enough to drive a Cayenne on Silverstones off road track I was astounded what the beast can do. then to be driven in one round a rally course, it was enough to show me the light. Ok maybe i dont agree with them on a school run basis, and some of the arrogant to$$ers that drive such vehicles should have been drowned at birth but as a machine, and all round road vehicle and as a wide ranged sports car, they are awsome. Yes I am biassed but, who isnt?

My unipart battery has finally given up the ghost and wont hold charge. But Im buggered if I can find a way to remove the battery. Its in a battery jacket and Im not sure what or where it is being held down with. any ideas?

quaife dif, Wider wheels and better tyres, and you should be well on your way, but unless you get some uptodate traction control in there you will never overcome physics. more power than grip = spin

Dude, its all about throttle control. You cant just put your foot down and expect it to not spin.

My K&N went through the dishwasher, and lightly re oiled. All is good. Love the sound, dont care what people say about it being to noisy or the spurious claims about actually reducing the power, It pulled 202 bhp at stealth with it on.

there was a petition which I signed about putting up more gantry signs to ask people to move over if the nearside lane was free. I got a reply which basicaly said that it was dangerous to ask people to change lanes on our increasingly congested motorways. and the police patrols are actively gesturing for people to move over where they see incidences of lane ignorance. However Ive never heard of someone saying they got asked to move over by the police.

I try not to let it bother me, oterwise you end up geting angry and the ingorant fool who has pi55ed you off knows nothing of it. These help. one day I will get a poster sized print out and plaster it over lorrys and vans at a motorway service station.

Dont worry about it, I bent the contact back up and gave it all a clean up. Everything working again. :D

I have had a problem with my fan motor control, not the usual only works on 4, these only work on 3 and 4. I have just taken the controls appart and bridged the connection with a screwdriver on settings 1 & 2, and whatdaya know. it works! I am guessing the contacts need cleaning but am unsure how to do it. Is it a case of wet and dry with a bit of wd40 to clean it up? or do I need to re bend the contact? I only ask as I dont want to break it, these things are hard to replace. any ideas?

Must be the weekend for breakthroughs with Idling problems. mine has been erratic for a while, Ive cleaned the maf and isv, but still wobbly revs at idle. I cleaned the k&n filter and re oiled it when it was dried out fitted it back on, All is fixed and she runs smooth again.

I like the way the dials are angled towards the driver, cool touch. 8)
