Ta... ill give it a search... if anyone has the lastest and greatest news on oil coolers let me know
-
Does anyone know how expensive / difficult it is to fit an oil cooler to a VR6. I've always thought mine runs a bit hot... up to about 118 degrees on a pounding. Which ones are the best to go for and where from???
-
What cable would i need for a 94 VR6?
-
I don't think rear beam bushes are to bad on a valver, just drop the beam out. I had trouble on my VR6 as the rear brake compensator gets in the way... I know there's a good thread on here for changing the rear beam bushes. My C was very unsure when braking from high speed, the back end would feel very wondery... This is now perfect having replaced the bushes with OEM parts.

How much does a rolling road set you back at stealth? and where are they based?
-
Grant has my VR at the moment for a P & P head with bigger valves + cams + 6 branch. He is a little slow but maybe well worth waiting for.... in a rolling road season i saw him get an extra 25 BHP out of a TSR engine belonging to a friend of mine!!! worth waiting for me thinks

Speak to Grant Motor Sport... mailto:[email protected] based in bristol and will run rings around TSR

Trying to revive this thread for one last question... Does anyone know how to correctly set up the rear break compensator? My car has been lowered 40mm so i want to set it up correctly as i'm sure it wasn't altered when the car was lowered.
-
A bit off subject i know but i upgraded to audi TT 312mm front brakes. These have transformed the car... now very sharp under braking. Just a thought prob a fraction of the price.

Is the gear box mount tricky to change???
-
Theres three mounts... Front engine, rear engine and gear box. I've been lead to believe that the front one is really easy made even easier by removing the fans and jacking the engine up. Not sure about the other two but think the gear box mount might be a bit tricky. I'm planning to fit new OEM front and rear bushes gonna forget about the gear box one for now. Had mine rolling roaded too 200BHP a few weeks back and it was shocking how much the engine rocked back under acceleration. I was gonna fit uprated bushes but i'm sure brand new OEM bushes will be fine for a couple of years. Let me know how you get on if you attempt them before me. Cheers

I'd love to buy a new one but have been trying to avoid taking the old one off as the bolts are seized and have been completely shreaded... they'd have to be drilled out. How much impact does a brake compensator have? I suppose this should be taken into consideration when lowering the car. I'm tempted to just put it back together and see if its ok... what would indicate this?

Please Help!!!! have i broken the brake compensator????..... i've managed to pull out the arm from the bottom of the compensator. Can i do this? or have i broken it? was it just the rubber sleave holding it up previously or have i pulled it out of something internally??? I've pushed it back up now and pulled the sleave back into position but will this be ok??? Any guesses........ Also read that cars fitted with ABS dont need rear brake compensators.
-
If you find you need to replace them go to GSF not the $tealers. GSF have them at £20. ABS sensors are sat behind a slotted wheel behind the disk... easy to spot Good luck
-
So we're still in agreement then the brake compensator is virtualy impossible to get off unless its brand new. Which brings me back to the "flipping the axle bolt round fix". Can anyone see any problem with this, i've just got a new bolt from the stealers and there's no obvious reason that it can't be done.
-
I'm positive it doesn't unclip. Have you tried it on a vr6?
-
Just got off the phone to the $tealers replacement bolt is £1.50 vs £50 +++ for a new brake compensator.... hope this is a valid fix for all concerned.
-
I'm having the same nightmere... turning it around does seem to be the best way... whats everyones thoughts.
-
Phil, you soon change your mind if you owned a vr6 if only for the sound. Kev thanks for the help i'll be sure to post my bolts to you, i've heard they fry up nice with some gear box oil. I take it eating corrado parts helped you along the way to the ripe old age of 195. Thanks again
-
kev, am i right in thinking to get the compensator off its just two allen key bolts holding the compensator onto a braket? if so where do you cut the braket/compensator off? (surely in doing so you'd mess it up to fit a new one?) if the bolts come out i'm not goona need a new compensator am i? if the compensator doesn't have an internal thread, and is just bolted into the braket, could i grind away the bolt head and remove the compensator. This would leave me just having to replace the bolts @ £0.50 each. hope the above points/questions make sense
-
Kev, 8MM proud??? Something i've missed1 explain if you would mate. Also so any idea if the rear compensator has an internal thread?
-
Thanks phil, Got all the right tools. I'm slightly obstructed by the exhaust for hammer blows. Also the bolt heads are quite shallow and i'm sure if i start applying more force they will go round. Everything else if loose so i'm ready to drop the beam, just gotta get this valve out of the way.
